I'd argue it's as much his brother, Simon, that has the knack for spotting players.
Nige can build a team though. Derby got to the play-offs after him (but he did completely turn the squad around), Sheff Utd a double promotion to the Prem with mostly the same team that he built (I thought they were harsh to get rid of him after taking them from the relegation zone to the play offs), he got Burton into the Championship, took Mansfield from the edge of the L2 relegation zone to the play-off final in 6 months... not bad to have on your CV however you look at it!

Indeed.  The fact that the vulture-buyers, i.e. doing it on commercial terms, have been overlooked suggests he is going out on a limb.  I suggest he is doing this to save the club as much as anything.
I don't think we can expect initial glory days.  He will likely want to get promoted, pay down debt, run a tight ship for several years - and then sell at break even.
I just hope fans don't turn on him for not turning on the taps.

hes skipping the politics and tyre kicking and is getting straight down to business

Sure. I’m just saying there has been no verified reason reported to suggest CK won’t complete the deal. Funds are there and have been proven. It’s just held up.

And during the time the funds have been held up, Q made the correct decision to allow others to bid.

So far nobody else wants to match or better CKs bid. So it’s still his until someone wants to beat his bid.

Pushing us nearer to the brink but yet again dressing it up as doing all they can to help us secure a future. They have done absolutely nothing to help us what so ever and are more than culpable for the position we are in.

Hello everyone.  Nice to meet you all.  Found this forum a week or so ago, and in the circumstances have been reading frequently.
I do believe there is, perhaps understandably, a mismatch between business reality and fans wanting to "save our club".  Some of the business people involved also care deeply about football, and some this club; but business comes first and their backers are not going to want to "donate" monies beyond the relative value of the proposition.
I work in financial services and investment.  I have previously worked at a global accountancy firm, where I for a while sat next to a company administrator - no, not Q - so have some familiarity with how these processes work in general terms.
My analysis: is DCFC has VERY large debts.  DCFC has virtually no tangible assets.  Those we do have are players (if very few!).  On liquidation, unlike with other firms in most normal industries, those assets can leave for free on liquidation - so valueless to a liquidator.  We have considerable brand value (30k matchday attendees), all those here etc etc.  That brand value dies on liquidation, if EFL does not allow re-entry at L2.  Unlike with most businesses, the name cannot simply be sold as a way to pay creditors.
There is an old maxim: if I owe the bank £10,000, I have a problem; If I owe the bank a £1billion, the bank has a problem. That applies here.  On liquidation, the creditors get nothing.  Think about it, the players have no value and we don't own the ground.  We are left with paying £100m or whatever it is from old replica kits from the Superstore.
Ashley knows this, too.  As do all the buyers.  The reality is someone needs to be screwed here.  Liquidation screws everyone, but the admins need to extract as much as they can.  And so along strides a wonderful American who will generously pay a nice amount to said creditors for a L1 club.  No points deduction.  Keep Rooney.  40 new players.  He might as well throw Bale in to the mix as well, and consider putting a bit in for Messi.  It feels - not saying it is - a little too good to be true.  He is offering to be the one financially screwed for the greater good of everyone else.  And on cue the money doesn't turn up... makes you wonder.
What, in my opinion, this club has needed since January is to have the real crunch liquidation point - the club will liquidate on x date without x monies.  At the moment, creditors are thinking "I can get a 'good' deal from some naive mug" and are not considering the real haircut they are going to need to take to get some monies back, maybe 5 or 10p in the pound.  Once a potential vulture owner decides to accept the points deduction, why offer the creditors any less than a completely derisory offer (you get them to their lowest point before they refuse on principle)?  The points deduction will be the same.
This is Ashley's strategy (and probably everyone else bar CK).  He is planning to screw the creditors.  But this only works if you are prepared to hold out to the very very very last minute; and you can act fast to prevent the reapers axe actually coming down.
The idea he will take CK's terms like-for-like is for the birds.

I understand folks are stressed, and as such grasping at whatever straws are available. However, it has been (and continues to be) fairly straight forward. Some key points below. It has to do with money. None of the other fluff matters. Everyone has had a fair chance to buy the club. And if they want to buy the club can do so now with little issue. Any team or group who are kicking up dust on socials, are only doing so for style points. Because the only thing that will close this deal now are dollars handed over.
    1. Up until the moment of this post (that we are publicly aware of), the only bidder who has made an acceptable offer has been CK. That is why Q gave him exclusivity.
    2. Any other party was more then able to put forth an acceptable offer...but no one else did.
    3. Now with the exclusivity over, anyone can again make an offer. But, if it is not an acceptable offer- they can do one. There are no deals to be had here.
    4. CK has passed all the tests (proof of funds/fit and proper/etc.), and the moment his money clears- CK owns the club.
    5. If any other bidder would like to beat CK to owning the club, they WILL have to put forth a better offer than CK's. As it is still CK's deal until he is out-bid. Which again is why all the bluster and fluff of anyone (MA) being such a shrewd business man means nothing. Either he pays for the club (an acceptable amount, which has a number attached to it- per the admins) or he stops whinging and walk away.

I've said it before, I don't really care who ends up owning the club. But The only person who has attempted to (and still likely could) close the deal has been CK.

Again, it's not 100% clear what the stadium situation is if CKs deal doesn't go through as I think the stadium deal depended on CKs deal (and CKs deal sepended on the stadium deal). If someone had simply bought PP we'd have heard by now "XX has completed the purchase of Pride Park Stadium, with an agreement in place to lease the ground to the new ownership of DCFC"

Having digested the events of yesterday this is how I believe it will play out (in my opinion)
I still think that CK will be the new owner of DCFC my guess by the end of next week. The money hasn’t been taken off the table, just held up and if it wasn’t sent (for the third time) until last Monday I can understand why we haven’t heard anything yet.
I can’t see any of the other interested parties stumping up the cash, they didn’t when we were a champ side with more sellable assets so I can’t see it now we are a league 1 team with 5 contracted players (the price hasn’t changed). I suspect they are chancing their arm at a lower price, hence whilst CK’s bid is on the table and not matched they are being ignored.
Don’t get me wrong I would much prefer a proven owner like Morgan for example, however, until now only CK is prepared to pay over the odds (in my opinion) and the threshold to prevent further points deductions.
CK is getting a lot of bad press at the moment but let’s not forget the guy came about his fortune by gambling and getting lucky on crypto, not through decades of hard nose business deals like Morgan, MA, etc. In my opinion he is only guilty of perhaps being a little naive, wet behind the ears, badly advised? I suspect this is the biggest deal he has ever attempted to complete.
So to conclude, if CK can get it over the line I won’t hold the delay against him, and will doth my cap and be eternally grateful to the bloke for saving the club I have followed and loved for all these decades and just getting back to watching a competitive game of football without off field issues hanging over us.
    (apologies for the ramble)

I’m probably being cynical, but I think the 5pm deadline was a means of taking the heat off the admins, makes it look like they are earning their fee. In reality nothing has changed, we are waiting for the funds to clear (which if you believe Nixon he’s seen evidence along with the admins that it has been sent)

Same as last summer where we will have a lot of triallists in who will want to join the club and play under Rooney. They will kmow what our offer is, just a waiting game, they have plenty of time to make a final decision.

Nixon stating he has see both proof of CK money and also proof of the bank transfer from CK on Mon which I would assume the EFL and Quantuma have seen. If CK has genuinely sent the money I cant see any other interested party getting a bid in & the paperwork etc sorted before this money lands (probably why he is still confident of the deal). If he sent it Mon just gone it could quite possibly land in the escrow account any day now, this Mon coming would be a week from the transfer, a lot of payments in general can take 5-10 working days.

After spending the whole day reading this thread I sit here on the toilet (the only place I get a bit of peace and quiet)
I've said all along we are going to get liquidated, I have a friend who knows a man who knows a man close to MM.
As my nagging wife shouts up to tell me to run the brush around the pan I look to the right and discover an empty toilet roll.  Kind of sums up today.

Personally I have everything crossed that CK pulls a rabbit out of a hat and completes the deal tomorrow.
We've come so far down this road that I've got used to him becoming our owner. I like the fact that Rooney seems happy with him, I like the fact that the people he is putting in charge are top drawer and I like the fact that if its done tomorrow I can look forward to the fixtures coming our and the season starting.

I'm not sure if it's a wind up, because when people what day is it on the 6th June, they should be ashamed.
Today is the anniversary of 'D-Day' the start of the liberation of Europe from the Nazi's. Without those brave Allied servicemen & women, my father, a Polish enforced slave labourer, based in Normandy, would probably not have survived the war.
The sacrifice they gave on that day and the next 11 months cannot be overlooked.

Nixon has confirmed that the players have been paid. The only party that could have put in the funds to do that at this stage is Kirchner. Unless he's the sort of person who likes burning the best part of £1M, I'd say he's still very much committed to completion.
I was once involved in a far less complicated transaction, with all the funding in place, but which also involved 5 sets of lawyers. The completion date got moved 5 times over the space of two weeks due to late interventions by one or other of the lawyers, on one occasion at 10.30pm with all of us poised to sign, and some parties wouldn't agree to complete unless their lawyers were 100% happy. This sh*t happens, and it would be foolish of Kirchner to say too much about what is the issue and who is causing it.
I'm still very confident it will go through.
