Following Gibson threat (as you refer to it), the EFL is now actually going against their own rule which states that member clubs cannot take action against each other with regards to breaches of P&S regulations. Only the League can take such action, which they already have done. So what has Gibson got on the EFL that they are prepared to break their own rules?

I'm really struggling to get my head around this as well.
Mel's statement suggests that with regards to breaches of the P&S regulations, there is an EFL rule that states "only The League can bring any action against a member club", thereby prohibiting member clubs taking action against each other.
Have I understood this right, because if this rule is as Mel states, then how are the EFL allowing Boro and Wycombe to claim against us as they have already taken action against us?
Could this be one of the reasons why Rick Parry is going away to consider his response to Mel's statement?

Whilst we all appear to agree that Mel's statement was very personal, and aimed squarely at SG, RP / the EFL, and that nobody from WW, surely Mel would not have been so stupid as to not take legal advice before going public.
It came across as a piece that probably took some time to draft, certainly not just a knee jerk reaction to other recent events.
It is possible, like others have said, that Mel has been waiting to step in for some time to allow others to 'show their hands', and has been drafting this statement during that time.
Some of the comments could even be libellous, so if he hadn't taken legal advice, he'd be a bloody fool.

Exactly. Add in CCTV, which I assume is always active on the away end during matches, and it shouldn't be difficult to identify the culprits.

Surely can't be right as Sky's Rob Dorsett said it was about 2000 ?. Looking at those pictures and videos I know who I believe.

Gutted I couldn't make today, so having to grab it on TV.
Sky really are a bunch of w*****s.
After 10 minutes talking about /with the legend Neil Warnock (God I can't stand that man) they then show Forest's goals against us from last week, then Rob Dorset suggests there were as many as 2k on the march. 2k! What a prat.
And who do they have as pundits today, Joby Macanuff and Robert Earnshaw. Is that really all they could come up?

I agree with posters worried about both potentially watering down / splitting the message, and about keeping any unruly elements away - as the last thing we need now is any negative press, but imagine how powerful a message it would send out to see fans from other clubs supporting the campaign.
The cat is already out of the bag, and the march has been widely reported. Indeed there are already some Portsmouth fans attending the match to lend some support, as reported on Radio Derby, so I'd be surprised if they've come all this way and don't join in. I bet there are fans of other clubs attending that we don't know about.
Fans from different clubs wearing different club colours marching together could actually make some strong headlines, especially as the Premier League is on it's winter break.
I would imagine if anything, that would increase the potential coverage.

With Barnsley, Peterborough, Reading and Cardiff playing teams in 3rd, 12th, 4th and 7th place respectively, and us playing Birmingham in 18th place, we really need a win to make up even more ground on those around us.
If results go our way, this could be a massive weekend.
