The forum equivalent of ‘I have a girlfriend but she doesn’t go to this school and you won’t know her’.

Why do you have to be so cynical?

It's views like this which scare these ITKers from posting up information.

FWIW I also know all of the players we are signing but I'm not going to tell you now until after they have signed.

What? Oxford look completely comfortable here. Derby on the other hand were lucky Wildsmith had the game of his life and we scored late on from a corner.

We were poor against Bolton. And if we play like that every game in the Championship we will be relegated.

The game of his life where he made 2 saves?

We were comfortable for about 89 minutes of that game. Let Santos have the ball for about 75 minutes knowing that he could do nothing with it.

Not sure what is lucky about scoring from a corner? Must be another modern football hipster concept.

I would be devastated if Derby played like Bolton have in a play-off final. They have absolutely no go in them.

It could of course be that a manager had followed Warnes blueprint and realised how to completely nullify Boltons threat?

Yes I am thinking in the adults game.

The reason would be to avoid billions in law suits (if FIFA continue to allow it in the face of evidence that shows it causes brain damage in ex-pros leading to dementia, then that would be a case for negligence I would expect).

If at some point the evidence becomes irrefutable, then FIFA will have no choice but to act.

Would be based on historical evidence when balls were different.

Footballs today are like wind balls!

Change happens. Wonder if the next stage will be to ban headers outside of the penalty areas. Those head tennis phases of play, often from goal kicks, add nothing to the game anyway.

    Headers are banned full stop?

Unless you are talking about the adults game?

The logic behind banning heading for under 12s is something to do with the skull not being fully developed, or at least that is what we were told.

I see no reason for implementing it into the adult game.

It's already banned in most u11 leagues anyway. Just seem to be making it official.

Interesting to see my son's age group (current u9) will be allowed to continue heading under this new ruling, and yet all the local an national leagues seem to have banned it already.

Saw a penalty awarded last week for a defender heading the ball. This new regulation introduces kick ins for that offence which I think is a good idea.

It has never supposed to have been a penalty.

It used to be an indirect free kick from where the ball was headed.

It's now a free kick from the nearest side of the penalty area to where the ball was headed.

  7. The game may evolve as it becomes the norm but right now its horrific watching kids who could head it up until last season now trying to play without being able to head it.

From this season they are also trialling kick in/dribble in instead of throw ins. Yet another problem that didn't need fixing.

It wouldn't have been our most important game of the season, without Cashin and Nelson performing to the levels they were doing, week in week out.

Nor without NML or JCs goals.

Probably not without the signing of Adams either.

Not sure what that has got to do with Wildsmiths performance in that game though?

People have used the number of clean sheets, to claim that Wildsmith is the best keeper in lg1. Clean sheets can be earned by the whole team and have been in Derby's case, I would imagine that our keepers made amongst the fewest top quality saves last season. I can't remember many times that we picked up points because our keeper was man of the match.

On the other hand, Cash and Nelson seemed to mop up most of the awards between them.

Not even the most important game of our season?

Finish 17th with the supposed lowest ever tally to survive

or finish 20th with the lowest points tally ever..

    I know what I’d pick.

Also, the PL has changed since the decades you were in it. This 40 points to survive malarkey isn’t needed anymore. 35 seems to be more than enough given the dominance of clubs like Arsenal, Pool and City.

The top are gaining more, the bottom less.

Me too, I'd pick going into a division where we could be competitive every single day of the week.

Not sure what point you're trying to make after that? Do you not think you should be expecting more after blowing a quarter of a billion pounds?

It’s almost as if coming up, spending some money, and actually having a reasonable go at it was worthwhile..

Having a reasonable go at it?

    😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I think there is a joke thread in the Jim Smith Room if you've got any more crackers like this one

Proof regarding my original point, that attendances won't change because of this. The world is changing, football as well, you only have to look at the women's game to see the journey that has taken and the part that TV money has played in that.

You don't have to agree with it, totally get that, there is lots that I don't, but imo there is a difference between that and not seeing the positive influence that the money pumped into the game has resulted in a massive growth in attendances.

The influx of foreign money has been anything other than positive for the English game.

The game has evolved over the years, fans have evolved over the years, attendances are on the rise and the days of 3pm KOs are a thing of the past.

Years ago we were having crowds of 13k at a decaying ground, where the environment was not welcome for families or women and often intimidating for away fans to the point they wouldn't come. Nowadays attendances are 25k plus and still owners make losses, an independent regulator won't stop more money coming in.

Also not sure where overseas bit has come in, do we really think that the championship is that attractive to that market ? PL fair enough, but I would guess that the change in our league is driven by the UK.

Ask people in the grounds if they think the game is changing for the better or the worse, I'm pretty sure the concensus would be the latter.

24 live games a season, 10 midweek, BH games and moving to another day will mean that it's probably a handful of home matches that KO at 12.30 per season. Many more changes than we had this season ? I also prob won't have a beer at 10, but would just stay on pub a bit longer to make up for it.

I'd disagree with that, the game has to be marketable, same as every other sport, T20, NFL at Wembley for example, football isn't alone, consumer demand drives change and that's what's happened. Times move on, blame sky for it, but if it hadnt been then it would have been someone else.

The game survived for over 100 years without it being marketable to overseas 'customers'. The game is nothing without the fans and its about time they were put back to the forefront of thinking as opposed to an afterthought. Hopefully an independent regulator will see to this.

Purely reading posts on here that have delved into our accounts, adding next season's TV money and what Clowes has apparently said he is prepared to contribute. IIRC we came out 12th. No idea where to point you too, sorry.

All historic information and we have no idea how Clowes will react now we are in The Championship.

  16. 14 hours ago, Returning ram said:

No it won't, every year someone says it will, yet attendances are rarely impacted. People enjoy going to games, it's often about the experience something you can't get on TV.

People moan about sky, but the money it pumps into the game is why we have the strongest leagues in the world, the best stadiums, the best league structure and a national team full of rising talent. I will follow the Rams everywhere, but still have sky, because simply put, I enjoy watching football, they haven't ruined the game, just changed it.

Part of that experience is meeting in the pub for a few beers and a chat pre game and then going back to the pub after to discuss the match.

Sky/EPL/EFL/FA are destroying the game for the fans that actually go to the matches.

Very true, although we reached 2nd much later in the season and stayed there, aside from 1 week I believe when Bolton overtook us

We pushed Bolton all the way, and pushed them fully over in March to overtake. Then we stayed there.

Peterborough were also around somewhere, making up the numbers.

We hit 2nd spot on 3rd February and, from what I can see, never relinquished that place between then and the end of the season.

Portsmouth hit 1st place on 19th September and were 6 points ahead of us at that time, the final margin was 5 points.

Bolton pushed us all the way, nobody else really

Nobody pushed Portsmouth, us included. They went top in September and never budged an inch. Nobody laid a glove on them, let alone Peterborough of all teams

People made fun of our runners up trophy but I promise you Darren old chum, they don't give out trophies for giving it a jolly good try

Have a nice season next year. Couldn't happen to a more deserving bloke and club. Really weird bunch over there

Might be wrong here but think once we reached 2nd place we were never overtaken either.

Valuable lessons there about counting games in hand as 3 points.

I saw Hull win away at Southampton and they were pretty impressive - high press, fast attacking play. Yes, lots of passing and possession but it was always forward. They could have been more than the two goals up at half time. Second half, defended well when under the cosh.

Surprised at their decision, as much as you can be surprised at anything in football. I still think Rosenior will be a great coach.

Football is now so short term in its thinking.

That's looking at one match in isolation.

If they were that good they would have finished in the play offs.

3 wins in the last 13 matches, dread to think what this place will be like next season if we return such poor form.
