You've fairly succinctly made my point for me here. Being included on the bench the following game after making your debut is 'taking note', it's not like he was instantly relegated back to the youth sides. Just because he isn't being launched into the deep end of regular first team football doesn't mean he's being ignored...
He's also likely sensible enough to understand the reality of professional football and how the transition into the first team squad is not necessarily an instant one, and comprises of continually taking your chances when they're presented.
The Bradley substitution was to alter the formation and try and push the wide players further forward. It was an attacking change involving a defensive player. It was not a direct affront to Weston and his personal development as a player.
''Warne has not sent out the right messages regarding the academy''- without speaking to some of the academy players on the cusp of making the step into the first team picture, I have no way of assessing how true this statement is. Have you had contact of this kind, or is this just a guess?

    Bringing the B4 positivity…
Ive only been to two matches (recently) in the last 10+ years but Collins is the player that has stood out for me. Five goals in the two matches out of the three matches in the last week isn’t bad going.

If you was an academy player at Derby right now, would you be thinking there was a real pathway to the first team?
The damage being done across the club is ridiculous.

me ? Very disappointed but I never went , no stream , just listened to audio so actually I’ve not really got a clue on the actual game and players performance 🤷🏻‍♂️

Totally agree with this, but on the flip side, you can't give Warne full credit for games like Barnsley and then not be critical for results last night. It all lands at his door, good or bad. That's the life of a football manager.

I'd much rather have beat Barnsley and lost to Crewe than the other way round. We were never going to win the cup, and is our squad strong enough for a cup run anyway? I honestly couldn't care less about this result, and I think the result at the weekend means far more.
It does feel a little bit like the anti-Warne brigade are just waiting for a poor result to set out their usual stall, and the results between don't factor into their thinking- maybe this is harsh? Any mention of ''luck'' or ''results in spite of the manager'' are getting dismissed outright as that's daft, you can't only credit the manager with the negatives and expect to be taken seriously...

As much as I enjoyed this last post I see that the last 3 pages of this thread have become political. Sort it out Mods, even if it hurts a little to come down on the anti-Tory rhetoric.

Many apologies but to quote somebody, maybe I 'have a life outside of this forum'.
I neither went to, nor listened to, the game, so don't really see the point in me commenting on it.
Its certainly no shock to see certain posters post count at much higher levels than they were on Saturday evening though.
    Barnsley matchday thread 22 pages.
    Crewe matchday thread 32 pages.
Clear what situation some people revel in most.

To me, that looks like a team that were feeling all billy big b******* after beating Barnsley comfortably
Crewe at home on a Tuesday probably looked like a doddle to them and I do wonder if some of the current squad think they’re above our current fixture list. The amount of no shows against teams we should be beating can’t all be down to Warne. We have a lot of players who’ve played at the level above, are they hungry enough?
Think Warne is to blame for not rotating, we’re not winning the cup but you need to give youngsters opportunities to play. Now it’s just the ‘no pot to piss in cup’ left for the youngsters to get game time in because Warne admittedly seems married to his senior pros, which may be part of the larger problem
How he’s not given Weston and at least one of the other youngsters a start is beyond me

However, I think there is a massive focus on Warne which is letting the players get away with murder. As a group they need to come together and stop this happening so regularly, we really need a run of results here.
Five more games before Christmas, all against teams lower than us in the table. Can this manager and team get themselves up for these? You’d like to see us get 10 points from those as a minimum, it’s the time of year you start studying the table and the aim should be to get within touching distance of that top three of Bolton, Oxford and Pompey. Getting clear of Barnsley, Stevenage and Pboro goes without saying, we need to be buried in that top six ASAP
Dreading the January instability, Cashin and Bird leaving could be disastrous if we’re not careful

At least I can say I care, I was there, and after the Barnsley game, I felt confident going to the game tonight, oh how wrong was I, but on the 25th I will be back getting behind the team, and driving them onto victory, and hope the good Derby turn up, like we did against Northampton and Barnsley. It's in our DNA youth.

Tonight was largely the same players though, 9 of the 11 starters were in the team last season. How can the team play so well at Barnsley under Warne's instructions, but seem unable to play with any tempo at all tonight? I'm not a Warne apologist, I've openly stated in this thread I don't believe he's the right man, but the players are **also** the problem.

It's so easy to just blame everything on Warne. And lazy. He picked a side that should be beating Crewe comfortably, but the players didn't bring enough quality or effort, the grown adult footballers we employ should have enough professionalism to be able to perform better than that, even if the tactics are suboptimal. Warne isn't faultless, but why do we let the players off the hook?

I don't think we learned anything new about Warne tonight really. I'm still of the opinion that he isn't right for the club and is a limited coach and tactician. What I did learn however is that our players are extremely spineless and not capable of putting in back to back performances. The core of this team really needs ripping out, ironically for a squad built on "character" we have absolutely nobody with any courage in this team.

Pep Guardiola couldn't coach these lot to a win tonight with this level of performance. It's not always the manager. Sometimes I get the Warne criticisms, but tonight it has to be on the players. Not good enough.

Tonight is on the players. The team was comfortably good enough to win tonight, and the tactics and set up won't be radically different from the weekend. The difference is application by individuals. They need to look at themselves in the mirror.

I’m not a huge fan of warne, but do agree with a previous post who said they’d be very surprised if we were set up any different than on Saturday? A couple of changes shouldn’t make this much difference.
I get a good coach should be able to counter things, but I do think we’re letting a lot of players off with some really rank performances.

In Warne's defence, I would have to conclude the latter. I can't believe he has massively changed the way he's set up his team within a few days, the players are just completely inconsistent.

I don’t think that’s the case, surely we’d at least be able to start the game with energy and then run out?
    Think we’re just inconsistent

Oh wow, that is truly awful news.
He was one of the first posters I ever interacted with on this board, and he was always guaranteed to put a smile on my face.
I never met him, but I feel like I did, and his positivity in the face of a lot of life's crap that he faced was always inspiring and remarkable.
He will be sadly missed and my heartfelt condolences to his family and those of you who knew him personally.

I hope he wouldn’t mind me saying this, but he did tell me the reason when I was standing with him at (I think) Plymouth away.
He said he didn’t like pink because it’s a “girl’s colour”, but he didn’t want to say it publicly out of fear of offending @angieram!
