I don’t think we’ll be playing him there any longer than we need to. He is doing an admirable job outside his comfort zone. No complaining, just helping the team out as asked by his manager. When chester/Davies/Roberts are back it will be Fozzy/Roberts out there.

He may have deserved criticism for some past performances but to be critical of him today is incredibly negative…

The important thing for me is he’s willing to learn. In that interview he talked about practising his crosses because they haven’t been good enough. It has been a poor aspect of his game but today he put in 3 or 4 very good crosses. If he can use these different positions to learn new aspects of the game, it will be to his benefit in the longer run.

What’s an analyst do under Warne? “Kick it long”?

    It’s more nuanced than that.
The first team coach trains them to kick it long.
The performance analyst feeds back on how far it was kicked.
The fitness coach conditions them to kick it longer.

I think I might just have completed my application for Director of Football!

Stearman played on 3 players for the goal.

I mean when the first ball came in. It then went back out and back in again. But you can’t have 3 players offside in the middle of the play and just ignore it.
To be fair I don’t know if it was one of those who then scored.

I do, so my opinion on him is that his pace and directness can be an asset for the side, he’s got a bit of skill too, he needs to work on his composure in front of goal and that will come in time with more practice and confidence if/when he does score some more. He can be wasteful and frustrating at times, which I think is your observation, that doesn’t make him “the most wasteful striker we’ve had for years”, especially when he’s only played a limited number of games in comparison to others down the years.

I’ve been frustrated with him and wondered what he offered. Today I’ve tried to look at the good and there’s a lot to like. The criticisms about his finishing are valid, but he’s getting into those positions. Hopefully once he gets a couple, he’ll relax and the goals will flow.

Hmm, now I've typed that and thought about it a bit..

...this is actually all Liam Rosenior's fault! Like, all of it. Everything

Rooney was a miracle worker having to put up with this chump as his assistant, dragging him down and causing all the problems with our play.

Warne's now going to have a massive job fixing all of the problems Liam has left him with, the useless little s***!

Crikey. A pat on the back for me. I knew I'd get there eventually!

And to think I worried that sarcasm was a dying art. You’ve restored my faith ?

It's not a stupid question but I'm not sure there's a sensible answer.

I've often wondered why playing at home is such an advantage in the lower leagues at least. The pitches have to be within a certain size and, I think, they are mostly of a reasonable standard. Also, when you're only playing in front of a few thousand, the crowd shouldn't really make that much difference to a professional footballer.

I wonder what would happen if LR approached the Cambridge game exactly the same as if we were playing them at home? Of course there is the variable that Cambridge will set up differently.

I can't help but think, often,it's just a psychological thing but then, I've never been a professional footballer or a coach. ?

I’ve seen somewhere , and I’m afraid I can’t remember where or I’d reference it, that it pertains to pitch size.
Where the pitch sizes are similar, the away record tends to be a much closer match to the home record.
While pitches must be within certain limits, the permutations within those limits can be quite diverse. Some pitches are long and narrow, others almost square. You can see how that would have an effect on a team.
The layout of the stadium wasn’t mentioned in that analysis, but you can see how that could have an effect too on perception of distance that might affect passing accuracy/weight.

there such a place as second world?

    Not really any more.

The original definition was based on First World being US, Western Europe and democratic countries aligned to them. The Second World referred to the communist-socialist, less industrialized states under the influence of the Soviet Union. The Third World was everything else.
