Please don't blame Mel and Pearce? Seriously?
The sooner these two are out the door, the better. Road us to ruin.

I agree the EFL are a joke and we need to stick together but I fail to see how Morris and Pearce should be exempt from any blame ( and that’s coming from a Mel supporter). They have allowed the club to find itself in the perilous financial position it’s in and tried to avoid sanctions with an accounting practice that now seem to be against the rules. They gambled and lost.
As for Wycombe, as others have said, they’re not the enemy here and I’m not sure what they’ve done wrong. Yes, they benefited from the points per game ruling that saw them promoted and may yet benefit from Derby receiving a points deduction but, none of that is their doing.

This saga now just comes across as a vindictive face-saving exercise by the EFL and payback for all Mel's sniping at them over the years. We've made it easy for them by streching and bending the rules - giving them a convenient stick to beat us with.
You're not telling me that we accidentally used an accounting practice that no other club uses and then failed to highlight it properly in our submitted paperwork.
Mel & everyone else at DCFC thought they were cleverer than the EFL, which probably is the case but if you continually tread on the beast's tail, you're gonna get bitten at some point.

Chris wilder was a joke David.... thought that was clear with the winky face.

Evatt, Cook, Adkins, and Critchley all have more experience than our current manager with Adkins and Cook doing a good job at this level of football in the past. Cook just winning 4 of the last 16 still means he's got a better recent record than our man...  Critchley and Evatt are more of a gamble in the sense they've not managed at this level I guess?

I believe Evatt is well known for playing attractive football as his Barrow team were nicknamed 'Barrowcelona' and he set up a possession orientated approach at Bolton as opposed to the more traditional direct football at the club.

I think the big problem with sticking with Rooney because you don't fancy anyone else (even when you don't know the way they play) it's not exactly much of an endorsement of the current management structure. Rooney is currently an indefensible choice on the 'positives' of his reign, all that is left are apologists for our abject performances under his tenure and the fact he'll cost us to get rid of him.

    Why is that relevant?
We all know a lot of fans are incredibly fickle & tend to change their opinions after a run of 4/5 games either positive or negative. And anyone who seriously thought Benitez would look twice at us needs to adjust their perspective drastically.
The key criteria is getting the right man for the job based on prior experience & then sticking with him. Ian Evatt has a) a successful track record at two clubs & b) has demonstrated he can deliver teams that play good football. Look at the managers at successful clubs in this division - Daniel Farke, Valerian Ismael, Thomas Frank, Steve Cooper - who had heard of any of these before they started at their respective clubs?
As to your last sentence, Rooney is 11 games off a complete season with us - more time than Phil Brown got, more time than Nigel Pearson got, more time than Steve McClaren second time round got, more time than Paul Clement got. Whilst I totally accept there are some mitigating circumstances as to why Rooney has done so badly, the idea that we're not allowed to call for his removal because everything wasn't set up perfectly for him makes no sense. Phil Brown had a similarly grim time here off-field with players sold over his head, a thin squad & unlike Rooney, with a genuinely awful Board/owners - no-one bemoaned Brown's departure or thought he had more to give though. Why does Rooney get special treatment?

Barrow and Bolton is more than Wazza has on his CV.....and Evatt's record is a tad better.....just a tad.......well, actually a big, massive tad if we are honest about it.....

I was making the argument I think Rooney gets a bigger benefit of the doubt than other previous managers because of his playing record. I'm wondering when was the last time a manager got 1 win in 16 and survived at this club?

35 games isn't a chance? The guy's won one in the last 16 matches it's ridiculous he's still in the post and if it was anyone else people would be screaming for him to go.

Most concerning for me is the mentality of the squad, there was so little fight and backbone to the performances, conceeding late goals, no bravery on the ball to try and make anything happen going forward.
For all Lampards tactical flaws, he managed to create the best team spirit Ive seen at the club in ages. Rooney seems to have sapped any energy and fight from the players. I cant think of any player that really improved this season as a footballer.

    ?
'Committed his future to us?' Thats good of him. This is as good a gig as he's getting at present given how dismal his record is. That's like celebrating Ikechi Anya committing to us for the 4 years he had a contract here.
If Rooney does improve, you're in for an unpleasant surprise if you think he's intending on staying at Derby any longer than necessary.

It's not panicking it's legitimate concern at this point. The club is six weeks away from the beginning of the season, we have an absolute threadbare squad that couldn't compete for more than a month at this level before putting us bottom (yes it is awful) little idea about future ownership of the club and we're under embargo with an inexperienced managerial team. If this isn't enough to make us concerned about the club's future what is?

No, Wisdom and Davies are not contracted to the club for the 21/22 season. We are in talks with them but no doubt offered them substantially less wages.
If we are going into next season with Wisdom as a first choice CB, we're in trouble.

I feel like this is cherry picking stats a bit. Brentford can afford to spend more off the pitch because they used their money very well on it.
They also built a new stadium which I imagine contributed a big chuck of that spend.

Because the academy model is Mels antidote to the issues with recruitment. If the problem is with recruitment and we are looking to the academy for a remedy, then we can call it into question, despite how well the academy is going? We still havent really sorted out our recruitment at all in the same 6 year period that the academy project has been running.
I feel like it has been less 'thank god the academy has been there' and more 'recruitment hasnt worked, the academy is the way forward' I guess it depends on whether you see it this way or not.
Had we got our recruitment right as Barnsley, Norwich, Brentford have in the last few seasons then we might not be falling foul of financial fair play now, of course getting recruitment right is easier said than done but if other clubs can do it why cant we? Academy player sales still havent produced enough funds to save us.
I think this is where we differ, I am perhaps more sceptical of the academies ability to produce players consistently, but that is just my own view.
I havent said at any point that having an academy is wrong, we need balance but i dont think that the way the club is being run is particularly balanced, but again you might disagree.
I accept the view that it isnt either/or and that recruitment is part of it and this is my point. I havent seen any evidence (bar maybe Jozwiak) that we are trying to sharpen up our recruitment, instead we seem to be expecting that sibley, bird and co. can save us both financially and on the pitch. Does that mean the academy was a bad investment? No. Is this a bad plan by the execs and the owner? I would argue yes.
You might also disgree that this was the plan but I am taking Mel for his word.

And as has been stated before, it's almost impossible to create a Champions League side from a single academy (Ajax?) whereas producing 4 or 5 ex academy players who can compete at Championship level is a far less daunting task.
Folk (general observation, not yourself) also need to grasp that it's not necessarily an either / or scenario. Far from it. There's no reason at all we can't look to sharpen up our recruitment of senior pros at the same time as developing young talent in-house. In fact, I'd say that's precisely what we should be aiming for.

A portion of our fans have scoffed at Brentford for a long time when others have said we should be doing everything we can to replicate what they were doing.
In the time Mel took over and ploughed 100 million, 200 million or a gazillion pounds (depending on day of the week) into the club, Brentford went from the brink of financial ruin and being a non-league team to being a well run premier league club.

No-one is saying completely gut the academy and do it completely brentford's way though are they... but asking about the realistic output of the academy into the first team in the long run as opposed to do something different. Personally, I just want Derby county to be successful and for us to consistently use our resources in the likeliest way to make it happen. It's great if we can do that via the academy but if that can't be done then changes need to be made. Personally, i think we've overestimated just how good a lot of our recent graduates are from the academy.

Brentford have gone from a small time 3rd division team to leapfrogging us into the premier league and consistently earning big returns on players they've recruited. The last thing I'd be doing is scoffing at them but trying to see what elements of their model can be integrated into our own.

I'm not sure you'd get more than 12 million for those 4 upfront especially in this market. Sibley hasn't cemented his claim to first team football, Buchanan was also increasingly being left out as was bird and this was in a team that if everyone had started at 0 would have been relegated from the division...  Hughes, Hendrik, Bogle and Huddlestone (our best recent academy graduates) were consistently in the first team by 18/19 years of age and making a considerably bigger impact than these 4 in the division and producing much better performances.

I think if we can be successful via the academy great but how many teams actually become successful by integrating numerous academy products into the first team at this level? Currently, our integration process is not producing results i.e., points on the board and that's something we've got to look at long and hard.
