Nice. Looking at his wiki page, I realised that I got his career the wrong way round. I would have sworn in court that we got him from Port Vale and flogged him to Wolves.

    The passage of time...

Swapped him for Van Der Laan.  Didn't seem the best business at the time with his goal output.  Turned out alright though.

Normal service resumes. Forest lose and it’s all the ref’s fault again!! They really are getting tiresome. Roy Keane’s view on the Yates incident was spot on, he needs to toughen up. Sending Maddison off wouldve been soft. Danilo was a lucky boy also but I think that was the right call, case of slow Mo making it look worse, it was a natural movement to win the ball and not intentional.

Saw about 30 minutes and was amazed by that forcefield that stopped any Forest players getting over the halfway line.  A couple of them found a breach with about 2 minutes to go but Clattenburg really must investigate.  Hope he flags up that red card Forest should have had for a knee high tackle.

Unlucky guys it’s always tough to lose a final even in this competition but to be fair you made the final which we didn’t and hopefully most have had an experience and a good day out. To be fair it was close and when you equalised late on I really thought the momentum would be with you and you’d go on to win but sadly not. Anyway I just hope you remember to do one for all us “Wanderers” including Sharon of course and take any frustration out on Derby on Wednesday? 😁

We will try! Beating Derby would be a highlight of the season, especially if it sent Bolton up instead.

Good job every manager he has had since has brought this out of him then?

I've seen lots of players with flashes of quality and who have looked good at one time or another. It takes more to be consistent. He didn't have it in him.

He had 1 amazing season at League One for Posh, 1 or 2 "okayish returns" seasons, and the rest has been dross. I'm sorry, that's Conor Sammon territory in terms of return, with none of the tenacious workrate

I liked Sammon for his aggression but he was a crap finisher.  I've seen a lot of strikers at Derby over 40 years.  He was in the top 10 finishers .  In my opinion we ruined him by Lampard treating him like s***.  All opinions.

If they lose to Portsmouth they could be 7 points behind us with 3 games to play, and we could wrap up promotion at Cambridge. Wednesday is obviously massive for us, but next Saturday's swing could be pivotal.

We need to win Wednesday, can't have another performance like we did at Northampton after a big result.  As we're playing a similar team, albeit they have a bit more up top, we'll see.

That superior goal difference disappeared quicker than my pay packet!

I mentioned that port vale and Bristol Rovers should have been totally tanked from the position we were in as goals could be important.  Unfortunately, they've clawed back 4 goals over two easier fixtures than we had. I'm surprised as they were working with water pistols and only had a million quids worth of signings up top with more on the bench .

Don't make excuses for him. He was completely workshy and nowhere near as good as he thought he was. His career since demonstrates this

He scored 3 goals in the equivalent of one match in the playoffs.  The one against Leeds under that pressure was fantastic as was the one at Norwich away.  Scored three in three against premier league sides as well.  Grossly underused and confidence damaged by a manager who had favourites and blamed him for not having the same goal output when it was clear he stopped scoring when Mount was out for about 2 months and he had no service.  Then he didn't fit Cocu's system and was constantly going wide to collect the ball to facilitate a lumbering weeble on 90k a week..  We mismanaged a quality finisher.

I would imagine that whoever is in 2nd place ahead of the final day will be the team to go up, I don’t see anyone in that position slipping up even if it’s Bolton or Peterborough as the other would probably have nothing to play for in that scenario.

This can happen but my gut tells me that there will be two-three points between 2nd and 4th going into that game, maybe a couple on the goal difference and everyone will be trying to win.

  9. I seem to recall him smashing in two beauties against these lot last season.

I don't really understand why he get's slated playing as a tracking and holding midfielder which has never been his game whilst Bird had a shocking season till he got his move had 3 good games then reverted to type.  At least Hourihane has another 350 games in his legs.  He's basically suffering from a very good reputation as a top end championship/ competent premier league player.  He was never signing for a recently bankrupt team in League 1 if he was still that good and I don't believe he was ever or would ever sign for a manager who expected him to gas out for an hour then be replaced.  He was never that player, even 10 years ago.  We don't use him in the right way which is making sure he's occupying defenders 20 yards from goal and pulling them out to make space.  That's not his fault.

He was happy enough to sign a £350k a week contract though.

Rashford is another talented player who has a huge spotlight on him because he plays for Man Utd.

He is paid far above what his ability represents because he is at Man Utd, and he is regularly talked about as some kind of elite player because he is at Man Utd.

He is a decent player, but no better than say Raheem Sterling.

Only 30 years since Kitson demanded 250k a year to sign for Newcastle becoming their highest earner and they said no.  Deal was off then on again .  The greedy kit headline was back on the Sun as I remember.  That's quite an inflation over 30 years.  Wonder why the games heading to oblivion.

Are Leighton Orient one of them tribute football teams? I imagine a heavily moustached Peter Kitchen lookalike posing out on the wing.

They're playing the Derby Doppelgangers next week.  Bloke who looks like Steve Cross still the utility man  and still equally crap in all positions.

I see James Scanlon’s little brother has signed for Man Utd too.
another case of little brother joining big brother after being forced to leave Derby for the money in previous years.

I think the 3 youngsters went to United before to facilitate the loan of Mengi who played about an hour.  Seemed ridiculous at the time and still does.

DRobinson will need to learn not to pick up so many cards if he's to get some first team involvement. It feels like he picks up a yellow almost every week at the moment, and this time it's resulted in a red. He'll quickly learn when loaned out next season.

It's been a tough game for our young team. Other than Weston, all of our other players who finished the game could still play U18 football (5 first year scholars and 4 2nd years). Most of West Ham's players were 19 (including a 22 year old CB and 21 hear old CF).

Had a feeling he was out of contract and Villa were on the radar.  Has he signed up again.

This fella has us sussed, to be fair.

Why would you want to live within 20 miles of some of the finest countryside and stately homes in the UK when you can have Slough and Reading on the doorstep.  I can see why Wycombe get such dogshit crowds as well with this Smorgasbord of entertainment elsewhere in the town at the weekend. 😂

    Adams Park Stadium

    Wednesday, April 10th – Kick-Off: 19.45

Still a full week to go before another match to savour, this time against a club who can sensibly lay claim to having the greatest car park in all of football. So, what is there to say about L1’s perennial not-so-nearly men? Well, they have a fantastic chairman don’t they! Who else would be magnanimous enough to name their ground after our legendary midfield destroyer, Ebou? More to the point, how did he even know Ebou was coming to Derby? Clever chap, I suppose, which is probably why he now owns more ambulances than the NHS. As for Wycombe the town, well some brief research shows that Wycombe is notable only for being surrounded by places that are not dumps. Also, for weighing its mayors to see whether they have been getting rich on the public pound. Oh, The Cornetto Trilogy too, for any Hot Fuzz fans out there.

Moving onto Wycombe FC, well what can I say?

No, really, what can I say?

Oh, alright then! Their Wiki bio states that Wycombe Wanderers Football Club is an English professional association football club based in the town of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Founded in 1887, they entered the Southern League in 1896. Despite being around forever though, they’ve won the square root of feck all and in 137 years, have only managed to accrue around 7,000 supporters. I’m no maths whizz, but by utilising my trusty abacus, I’ve calculated that at their current rate of growth, they will hit Derby levels of support in only 508.86 years. Something to look forward to, then.

    Key Threats
Well they are two-fold and to be taken seriously; firstly, there’s the threat of legal action and secondly, there’s a very real possibility that they’ll attempt to hoof half our team into the stands. Fortunately for us, we’ve already paid them out, so they’re now feasting on the bones of other clubs in financial strife. Also, their stands are tiny and their team is rubbish, so if any Wycombe player does attempt to half-volley Liam Thomson into the North Stand, he’ll probably miss it altogether.

On the pitch, after a seriously deep dive, the only threats I’ve come up with are Luke Leahy who has amassed 8 goals and 6 assists this season from @40 starts, Dale Taylor with 5 and Joseph Low with 4. I was going to visit their forum to try to discern some interesting insider titbits for you lot; team strategy, injuries, pie quality and the like, but I immediately realised I’d rather eat my own vomit, so I didn’t bother. Feel free to have a gander yourselves though.

    The Team
I think we’ll likely see the same starting 11, or very close to it. Fortunately, we now have the aforementioned Ebou Adams, so when they kick us, he’ll kick them back. Several times each, probably. That said, I think if we play our own game and don’t get sucked into Wycombe’s peculiar brand of anti-football, we may well win and win well.

And sadly, that’s all folks, as the pub beckons and in truth, I’d not really counted on us getting past both Blackpool and Pompey and have nothing else prepared. A final note though, for away supporters looking for things to do before and after the game, might I recommend a trip to Henley, Marlow or Windsor instead?

    COYR
    BE MORE B4

I clicked on most popular discussions.  They are currently carpooling and the traffic on match days.  A day at Wembley and these are the main topics, I s*** you not.  Seems like the most boring fanbase on  earth need more parking spaces to serve their car bothering fetish.
