He can sign a pre-contract in Jan with clubs outside of the English football pyramid (clubs in Scotland, Europe etc.) if his contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

For clubs in the English leagues they cannot pre-agree deals with other England based players on expiring contracts until the May or June (think it’s something like the 3rd week in May) before the contract ends (typically June 30th).

I’m not sure how the contract clause affects either of those scenarios, whether it has to be activated by a certain time or something 🤷🏻‍♂️

So he could possibly sign a pre-contract with Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise, who are owned by Brighton owners…. Unless that has changed.

Warne doesn't seem to know what to do with technical forwards though, just wants crosses and big men then use a small man to to stretch things when required (Washington).

… and how’s that working out for us…?

I watched the game and most of our play was counter attacking. We are fine when we can counter attack teams it’s when teams sit back we struggle under warnes tactics to break teams down.

just never thought I would see the day we had to rely on counter attacking and worrying about what the opposition does. We should be at least having a different variety to our game

A lot seems to be made of our play being mostly counter attacking.

Whilst I agree that we don’t seem to dominate possession, there is an art in forcing mistakes and being quick in transition.

Perhaps this might not suit the  ‘purists’ eye or those who perhaps watch too much Sky coverage of the Premiership, however Leicester City managed to runaway with the PL relying on just this style of play.

Again, I’m not condoning it however, I do think we have the players who can play both possession based and also counter attacking football at this level. If might be part of PWs masterplan or then  again perhaps not.

  4. On reflection only one of the goals four goals conceded could have been prevented by better positional play/ coaching

Mistake 1 - Howler by Bradley with an off balance backpass

    Mistake 2 - Error/Misjudgement by Wildsmith

Mistake 3 - Elder not hearing LOUD shout from Vickers

Which leaves the one goal last night that had 3 centre backs in touching distance of the scorer who all failed to deal with the situation.

  5. A game decided by two gifts…

Lots of pressure and half chances created by us.

Warne looks to be getting what he wanted in terms of more quality crosses but we didn’t win enough first or second balls from them. Whether that was down to us or the fact that  Wigan were resolute and crowded their box.

It’s a bit of a reality check but I’d rather have it now than later in the season.

Oh… Didzy on the score sheet for Notts County but not the fairy tale return he might have wished for

  6. Give it a rest with the Warne bashing… whilst we had full squad available selection available we looked half a yard off the pace all over the pitch.. that is not down to Warne, the players are likely to be more fatigued than than other squads.

We need to avoid defeat against Peterborough and then recharge, regroup and emerge energised with drive, purpose and desire after the international break.

Dobbin’s exhilarating runs look completely out of place in div 1. If his finish/final ball improves as much as the rest of his game has, he‘ll soon be on Dyche’s radar screen

Genuine but random and stupid question….If we started a gofundme page to subsidise wages/ agents fees how would this sit under EFL rules ?

I’m relatively happy with his work rate and nuisance factor but he earns his money as a forward not a midfield player.

I can’t believe with all the technology at their disposal that the coaching staff haven’t analysed his attacking positions.

He so often takes up positions that make him impossible to find.

Just correcting that would make him more likely to score.

..agree 100% with this. I find it frustrating watching him invariably taking up positions between defenders and rarely does he seem to gamble on getting to the near post or in front of the defenders when we have the ball out wide.

Perhaps he needs showing the replays of NML recent goals where he attacks the near post and scores.

You've got me with this one... we're talking early-mid 90s? Released or joined another club?

Edit: you don't mean Martin Taylor?

    Russell Hoult..??
