There are lots of reasons i have a problem with Boro's fabricated claim, but a key one is that they reckoned they were good enough as team to get promoted via the play offs in the 2018-19 season.

They missed out to Derby by one point.

Boro were not good enough that season to beat Aston Villa, West Brom or Leeds.

Aston villa beat Boro 3-0 on both games that season.

In my opinion Villa would have easily beaten Boro in the play offs, so they wouldn't been promoted.

And of course by Boro raising this argument, any team that just missed out on the play offs could go back and make a nonsense claim about them being the team that missed out on promotion and should therefore receive millions from the team that stole their place in the play offs.

In the 2014/15 season Wolves missed out to Ipswich on goal difference, but Wolves were level on points to Ipswich, under Boros mentality, shouldnt wolves receive 50 million for decisions that went against them during the season. Decisions which meant that they didnt get enough goals to be promoted via the playoffs.

… here’s a thought… perhaps Gibson is using us as a test case.

If successful against us, a precedent would have been set and  he may then be able to bring a case against Villa too…

There needs to be a  rule to restrict how many players can be loaned out from 1 club

Totally agree…. I’d go even further and say that the number of players registered to a club needs to be capped at a sensible level. This will prevent bigger, hyper clubs ‘hoovering’ up all of the potential from younger levels and also prevent them on ‘stealing’ players already in academy developments.

The fan of today would say, terrible marking for their goals. We only got a draw because of two lucky breaks. The players should do better. They need better coaching.

How very true…. Too many expect our level of football to be of equal quality to that which we are accustomed to watching on TV and have become unable to grasp or acknowledge the chasm in quality and consistency.

It has been mentioned before, if a Championship quality player didn’t make as many mistakes, then they would be in The Premiership.

I have to resort to guessing on this one. The most logical reasons to me are:

    1. The wages fall outside the allowable limits under an embargo (following the non-payment of wages in December)
    2. The wages fall outside the allowable limits of an agreed P&S plan (set for non-compliant clubs, ie Birmingham)
    3. Marriott lodged an appeal to the extension

1 doesn't make sense to me as to why the extension wasn't approved when agreed (September/October?)
2 doesn't make sense to me given the wage bill in proportion to the (non-covid) revenue.
    3 sounds plausible.

It is rather intriguing… yet not surprising in the life and times of DCFC… ?

If the player objected, then I would expect the PFA to intervene but I guess we would not get to hear of this.

  5. Football has been broken for sooooo long.

Totally agree that parachute payments should be structured for one year only.

Other issues are what happens to current subsequent parachute payments should a relegated team be promoted? eg Watford this season. Currently that will get redistributed amongst the EPL teams... surely that should be shared amongst the Championship teams that had to play against them whilst they were in the division?

Again, I agree 100% on caps... but more from a squad size (including youth set-ups) The wealthy teams simply hoover up potential talent and use them as ‘asset banking’ starving the lower leagues of quality and then charging loan fees for them to develop their talent..!!
