Like Odergaard for Arsenal against Villa?

Even world class players miss easy chances, remember Collins is a lg1 player and if he was more reliable, he wouldn't be playing at this level. Having said that, he contributes all over the pitch and always puts a shift in, unlike Bielik on Friday night.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on Collins. I accept that he's a L1 player, who does get involved, and runs around a lot.

I don't think we need to worry about this for now though its fun to speculate I suppose. We need to put one foot in front of the other and see where it takes us. My personal hope is that Mr Clowes enjoys his project and at some point gets his money back and then some. That will happen naturally I think when we get to the position of challenging for promotion to the Prem. I say 'when' because we are one of the biggest clubs outside of the Prem and its the natural order of things. Its just a question of how long, it could be 2 years it could be 10. In terms of Mr Clowes planning, I think that will evolve as we evolve. We just don't know if he would want to carry on owning the club if somebody made him a really good offer, but my guess is he would sell provided he felt it was also in the clubs interest

Yes, at some point a wealthy Arab Sheikh turn up and make Mr Clowes a very generous offer.

    Oh hang on.........

He had a decent game yesterday.  Playing much better recently in general. He did miss a very good chance but he's playing that role of a battering ram so much more effectively and confidently.

Two chances that he should easily have put away yesterday. As it happens there were 3 goals scored to win the game, but on another day those misses are crucial.

The international break, League Cup, FA Cup lower rounds and the Pizza Cup have seriously disrupted the only competition that matters.

Totally agree, I'd previously said that the only positive of being in lousy L1 was that we would be playing every Saturday at 3pm. Crazy that games in the 3rd tier are postponed for international breaks.

The record is ours. Suck it up and live with it.

Don't suppose there's even the slimmest possibility that Rotherham might miraculously end up un the PL for a season .......

  6. The modern day footballer is motivated by money rather than any sense of passion for the game or club loyalty, never mind giving a second thought to supporters and their opinions. Irrespective of the scripted cliched nonsense that they may trot out to the media, footballers consider playing football as a job, nothing more.

Wasn’t that Paul Jewell’s problem? He thought he could spare us some blushes by buying a bunch of has beens in January. Why would Sheffield Uniteds owners bother with spending money on the team when the writing is clearly on the wall. Literally the only thing they have to play for now is to try to beat our 11 points. Which they will with their current players. So there’s no need to invest. The time to invest was at the start of the season, so if they weren’t going to do it then, they’re not going to do it now.

Agree most of that theory, and Sheff Utd will probably scrape past our miserable 11pts record. Heckinbottom a decent manager, but completely 'thrown under a bus' by useless Sheff Utd owners, who might yet be stupid enough to make things worse 🤞

I wouldn't mind all evening matches starting at 7. Let's face it, the amount of extra time these days, you need it to finish a bit earlier. Maybe a compromise would be 7.30 for league games? Is there extra time or straight to penos?

For all its worth, they could go straight to peno's from kick off 😉

  9. If we can avoid a collapse in December, and get some really good additions/replacements in January, theres no reason that the November form can't be replicated. A few sustained periods of good form and we have a chance to get out of this dreadful league.

Good evening ladies and gents. It’s going to be another chilly night on 5th December for Derby v Fleetwood.

Difficult to raise any enthusiasm for this rather meaningless event. Wonder if the gate receipts would even cover the cost of switching the floodlights on ??

Main thing we need in my view is JJ to somehow stay fit and we extend his loan/sign him. He’s a serious player.

We need another striker and a winger, along with a left back if Elder isn’t fit, we need to address this area in the summer as I think Fozzy’s level has deteriorated this season and I no longer think he’s good enough.

Other moves depend on outgoings. Potentially would look to try and move Barkhuizen Sibley and Collins on if we can get replacements.

Always a problem dealing with injury prone players and Derby have had their fair share. It's a pity about JJ and his injuries, as he could have been the ideal player for us. I would prefer a new 'goal getting' striker in January, but the club won't be able to spend the big money to attract such a player. However, we definitely need some sort of upgrade on Collins.

I believe a successful team needs a strong captain. One if not leading by example, has the personality to cajole, bully, encourage his team mates to give of their best, when things are no going right in the game.

Hourihane's team mates voted for him to be captain but he doesn't seem to be able to do either. Tonight we desperately need that strong captain but one never appeared.

Who from our squad has the right qualities to be the leader and captain, I'm not sure. That problem needs to be resolved by the manager, not by a player's vote.

It was actually a big mistake by Warne to ask the players to elect the captain. No one knows what might influence the votes. Some players might vote for the guy who they think won't get on their back, some might vote because it's a mate who buys the beers. Very naive of Warne, to actually  assume that all the players would vote with the interests of the club/fans above their own personal interests. A good manager knows who is the best man in the squad for the captains role.
