  1. The modern day footballer is motivated by money rather than any sense of passion for the game or club loyalty, never mind giving a second thought to supporters and their opinions. Irrespective of the scripted cliched nonsense that they may trot out to the media, footballers consider playing football as a job, nothing more.

Agree most of that theory, and Sheff Utd will probably scrape past our miserable 11pts record. Heckinbottom a decent manager, but completely 'thrown under a bus' by useless Sheff Utd owners, who might yet be stupid enough to make things worse 🤞
  3. For all its worth, they could go straight to peno's from kick off 😉
  4. Tend to agree. 'OK' a fair reflection of the players performances so far. More to come in the long run, hopefully.
  5. If we can avoid a collapse in December, and get some really good additions/replacements in January, theres no reason that the November form can't be replicated. A few sustained periods of good form and we have a chance to get out of this dreadful league.
  6. Difficult to raise any enthusiasm for this rather meaningless event. Wonder if the gate receipts would even cover the cost of switching the floodlights on ??
  7. That's my concern, and I'm really hoping that Warne has a plan (other than Bradley) should Cashin be on his way.
  8. Always a problem dealing with injury prone players and Derby have had their fair share. It's a pity about JJ and his injuries, as he could have been the ideal player for us. I would prefer a new 'goal getting' striker in January, but the club won't be able to spend the big money to attract such a player. However, we definitely need some sort of upgrade on Collins.
  9. Astonishing that Pearce survived. Can't imagine that's happened in many businesses that have gone to the wall.
  10. Presuming Warne is working to an agreed remit, either the club owner agrees with the strategy, or will be asking some serious questions.

Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Football is run by corporate gangsters after all, governing bodies and club owners included.
  12. It was actually a big mistake by Warne to ask the players to elect the captain. No one knows what might influence the votes. Some players might vote for the guy who they think won't get on their back, some might vote because it's a mate who buys the beers. Very naive of Warne, to actually assume that all the players would vote with the interests of the club/fans above their own personal interests. A good manager knows who is the best man in the squad for the captains role.
  13. Problem is, the owner (allegedly) stated that he has confidence in Warne, long term. So he can't really not back him in January (subject to available funds)
  14. I would agree with the 'square pegs in round holes' suggestion. Also to be considered, too many of the first team squad just can't perform consistently. They probably raised their game significantly for the Barnsley game, but the Tuesday cup battle was too much, either mentally or physically (perhaps both).

  16. Some people get older and wiser, others just get older 😉
  17. Not sure about the MM rumour but I hope there is nothing in it. Like most genuine fans it's hoped that the guy is completely gone and forgotten. As for Ashley, buying a business on the upward trajectory for a large sum is not really his MO. Ashley goes in as the clock strikes midnight, just as the axe is about to fall, and the price is rock bottom. That's what he was perhaps waiting for with DCFC, but Mr Clowes stepped in. That's where we are for now, and the foreseeable.
  18. Very sad news about B4. The most popular poster on this forum, without question.
  19. Yes that was a very strange way to (not) announce a vote of confidence 🤔
  20. I doubt many supporters wish to accept that this season is a free hit, however the current management team is a barely quarter of the way through a 4 year deal, and the owner has stated that the manager has his full support despite uninspiring performances and results. Promotion this season looks highly unlikely and unless the Rams totally bombed and finished bottom six, Warne will probably be in charge at the beginning of next season and beyond.
