Regarding the flags....If it was just the club doing this then it would seem a tad gimmicky and contrived.
The fact that it is a bunch of ordinary fans who give up their own time to raise funds to get the flags made then turn out to place them round the stadium makes it unbelievable support.
Great work from the 1884 Group, Nick the flagman and all the other volunteers who get up off their arses to try and help our club.
Keep up the good work fellas, its really appreciated by the vast majority of us. Its an added bonus if it annoys the gumps!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, you're right though, nobody talked to me like that, everyone just assumed I was happy. Not easy at I just hope it clicks with one person as losing years like that still drives me mad today

What you are saying , in a nutshell , is to act . Take action. . . Make the change etc etc . You are absolutely spot on of course . But you know full well, that it's never that simple when you are in it. I know you understand that . Your lost five years . Would they have been avoided by someone saying that to you some time in year one ? We've been in similar states . 
Your post is brilliant . You're writing it now . You wouldn't have written that in the middle of that lost five years . Thanks for posting it. I understand it , because I'm the right side of it at the moment . Well most of me is. Regret is a bitch to deal with though . 

Oh I agree that there are big social problems in the country and a real review of capital expenditure should be made to see if it is really worth it against other priorities, however working in the transportation industry it just irritates me when people say 'oh it only saves 20mins what's the point.' 
It is a fantastic album... just wish they toured the UK a bit more as I missed the last couple...

If it weren't for them then many people would be suffering and the Government wouldn't be able to get away with murder.

The proposed peak district road tunnel from Sheffield to Manchester and also HS2 just so some impatient people can shave half an hour off journey times.
All at a cost of multi billions.
Meanwhile councils are skint, services are cut and hospitals are in deep trouble.
Priorities.
People first, other playthings for politicians after.

I had little knowledge of the actual 'laws of the road, when it comes to cyclists and what they are legally entitled to do and not do so it's good you pointed a few things out. Perhaps most motorists don't know either and better education and understanding between the two would help matters.
I am very patient and courteous when it comes to cyclists. I in fact was knocked off my bike by a lorry in my younger days and the driver left me and a mangled bike in a crumpled heap at the side of the road so I'm in no way pro motorist.
I think like most things with me I just expect to be afforded a little bit of consideration as I do to others , regardless of 'entitlement' and to be spoken to properly and in a non threatening manner if I have a perfectly well delivered and polite question to ask.
Maybe it's not a case of cyclist v motorist after all but just another example of how nasty we've all become in society. Just that incidents involving these two parties inexplicably bring out the worst in folk when really we should be giving and taking and getting together to improve relations.
There clearly is a 'them and us' attitude on the roads and it's from both sides.

The 'them and us' split is put into focus though when you consider the motorist is annoyed cos their journey is taking several seconds longer than they want....the cyclist is on danger of getting knocked off their bike and seriously injured, maimed or killed ....

I hope you give them the same room as you do a car when overtaking as stated in the laws of the road.....just a wild stab in the dark, i am guessing you don't.
Cyclists are not supposed to "hug the roadside" they have just as much right as a moron in a car to ride in the centre of the carriageway.
Car drivers.....rudest, most selfish people on the planet, that they are slowly gassing to death with their toxic fumes.
Fact. Of all the car drivers that have ever commented on my cycling every single one of them has been a ******** of the absolute highest order and should be lined up against a wall and reversed into with a truck load of pig poop.

Even more annoying is when you kindly point out this transgression they get all defensive and abusive and staggeringly they fail to understand your (perfectly reasonable ) point of view!
I wonder what cyclists think when it's them driving the car and they get idiots cycling three abreast.
Sometimes it's only the one cyclist but instead of hugging the roadside he's halfway across the bleedin' road! How stupid are these people?!!
Fact. Of all the cyclists I have politely commented to during my motoring escapades, I have not yet encountered one who responds in a civil manner. They all gave me abuse and hand gestures. All of them.

One day I might just get out of my car and give one a serious pasting. For now though I try and chill and just ignore them. They aren't worth the hassle.

Cyclist are like the left wing of politics. A lot of them are decent people with a method of getting from A to B and would like everyone to share it. It might not be all that practical but the intent is good and sound. Then there are the militants who hate everyone who isn't like them and give no quarter regardless of circumstances.

I know what you mean though, everything seems to pile up at once sometimes and it's tough. You're not alone, it happens to us all if it's any consolation. Hope things pick up for you jono.

Sunday morning Tour De France wannabes who insist of sitting three abreast of each other so you have to sit behind their day-glo, lycra clad arses for a mile while they practice their slip streaming.  Utter tossers!!!

With all the woe in the world I am almost embarrassed to add things to this moan thread but Inam going to.
All at once moments .. Murphy's law 
currently ... Boiler on the blink, new heat exchanger needed and just out of warranty even though it's already had one replacement .. So a war with manufacturers is on the cards. Dishwasher on strike and repair man been twice and can't find problem. New specs collected today but lense is wonky even though it seemed OK when fitted. Wife all fretful because we found a rucksack in the back garden full of pilfered tablets. And this is a week after the dog lost her collar and then we found it in the garden sliced through 
none of these are that serious or life threatening but bloomin eck we need to beat forest to reset the safety valve 

I'm complaining about it purely based on the fact that a bit like the London Olympics, there are higher priorities that need money chucking them than HS2.
Such as homeless, the hungry, the ill, the disabled, the poor, the hard working but poor, the schools, the hospitals, local services, mental health budgets that bizarrely have been slashed despite mental health certain to get worse as social media takes over the planet.
