    Two weaknesses with the argument

    - they haven’t yet done "it" despite operating the system for some years

    - their "way" may have been completely scuppered by a combination of brexit and priti patels "foreigners not welcome, I is Essex innit" policies which makes it v difficult on the face of it to bring in promising unproven youth.

But let us see how they do.

Personally don't mind either club so good luck chaps to both.

New stadium tick, Operating within FFP tick, succesful recruitment tick, sell players at vast profit tick, PL tIck. You are hard man to please. I'd settle for less personally

France seems to be forum's favorite, but the winner will be Finland.

    Final: France-Finland 1-5

If our B team can win them 0-2 away, our first team will beat the poo out them on a neutral ground.

England has a catasthropic tournament and will be third in their group.

Personally, I was looking forward to go Russia to watch some games, but decided not to when Putin sent his green little men to the border of Ukraine again. Personal little boycott, but seems like I'm not the only one doing so. My boycott will apply in Qatar as well, different dictatorship yet there's multiple reasons to continue doing so.

We were rubbish against Finland and Pogba was abysmal if i remeber correctly. But that loss was probably the best result we got last year, no matter how much talent you got if you dont turn up, you get turned over, simple as that. DD was livid the following day on tv.

    1 - 5 are you sure ?

  3. Didnt lower league clubs furlough playing staff last year ?

And i nearly forgot Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool putting non playing staff on furlough.

is it the same Stoke owned by a billionaire who tends to pay herself c250M a year in dividend?

Rotten to the core from top to bottom

Freedom of information responses from 29 councils (that have thus far responded) asked how many burials and cremations performed in their cities over last five years have revealed only 978 extra deaths over the average in 2020. In correlation with increases in population over that period and in those cities, the data doesn’t add up to the narrative.
I have had both doses btw and I’m not a foil helmet wearer.

Or may be it does correlate...take flu. More or less disappeared because of lockdown, self distancing and hygiene measures. So thats probably a few c20000 deaths spared. Deadly car and work accidentsare most likely down as we stayed at home.

  5. I like what i am seeing so far but we (froggies) got a really tough group. This being said DD has recalled Benzema and that could be the difference.

    Winner:France

    RunnersUp:England

    Scotland to score a goal

    Top scorer: Benzema

That way if we dont win it England gets it, It would be great after a year of complete and utter merde to have something to lift the spirits and celebrate. Social distancing and masks may be forgotten for a few hours.

Last but not least, it would reward the fans and british media for their massive  part in the collapse of the ESL (bankers)

I'm yet to venture into a pub (over a year now) but next week - oh yes, it will be done.

Tonight, I started with a Tynt Meadow and finished with a Trappistes Rochefort 10.

    Both sensational.

Managed it for the first time in blody ages last night. Head a bit sore this morning but man that was good. Good to see people having a good time, felt very safe and very civilised.

Absolutely with the media. Something is rotten with it in the UK. In their utter desperation for the next "story" to keep the desperate 24/7 news agenda rolling and maintain ratings, they continue to try to terrify the public. Everyone who is vulnerable has now been vaccinated. Inevitably the virus will mutate and different versions will become more prevalent every year from now on, but it doesn't matter as people will no longer get seriously ill. And it doesn't matter as we are the most vaccine-friendly country in the world so everyone is being jabbed and transmission will continue to fall away.

It's easiest to give the figures for England only as they're immediately finale today. Out of a population of 56.3 million (2019):

    • 818 people are in hospital and have tested positive for Covid.
    • 115 of those are on ventillators.
    • The rolling 7-day average of people dying each day (within 28 days of a positive test) is 8.7

Your chances of dying from Covid on any particular day are now in the same ballpark as winning the lottery. Now everyone who's in any danger is vaccinated, there's no mechanism for it to get worse.

Yes, in the future it's possible there might be a virus mutation resistant to the vaccines, just as in the future we might discover an asteroid on a collision course with Earth. If that happens we can deal with it. We've shown we can develop, test and roll out vaccines quickly as required.

This. The problem is if the media say something like  now COVID risk is like the flue (and i am not saying it is btw!) then a) it is no longer a news story and b) the government will loose control of  the public. Numbers are looking pretty good at the moment, indian variant is a concern, granted, but is it so bad that BOJo can put into doubt the full release on the 21st June?

Duck me , it’s come to something when I’m looking in this thread desperately hoping for something to lift the spirits ,,,,,, what a humdinger of a crap year , life down , Derby down ??‍♂️

It's been said in another thread that if we go down, it is the governments fault so you are in the right place.

The pubs are kind of opened & shops are opened. Vaccine is going well (mostly) so reasons to believe we can have a good summer. There you are i tried!

Still here, just not a lot to be bothered commenting about; I am by and large a lurker on here.

The UK's vaccine rollout has been very competent, and while there's still some nutty stuff being spread about, we've all heard it before. I could go on about the comedy of errors that is Australia's vaccine rollout, emphasising my point that the Australian federal government has handled the crisis here pretty poorly, but lucked out on the states actually doing something, but it's not really relevant for this forum.

We will probably never know why and who was really responsiblè for the initial response to go so spectacularly wrong, the promised public enquiry might though. But i also  wonder if we will find out the who and the why the vaccine roll out is going so well.

It may be a day late but yesterday was “time to talk day” so I thought I’d give this a nudge to the top of the list.

2020 was a tough year for everyone and I struggled for one reason or another.  A few times I’d typed a post in here to get things off my chest and ended up pressing delete.  I don’t know why - shame, embarrassment, worried my problems weren’t real issues or because I’m a bloke?  Who knows.  I ended up taking some time off work in December as I was struggling so much.  I felt trapped, stuck and unable to think clearly

I have to say having the time off was one of the best things I’ve done as most of my anxiety/stress was caused by work.  And that in itself was tough - just like I’d deleted posts, several times I put the phone down whilst waiting for the doctors receptionist to answer.  For the first time in years I was able to switch off, think about how I’d got myself to that place and, importantly, think about what I could do to solve it.  I’m now starting to see the wood for trees and I’m having CBT sessions for anxiety.

It’s a journey but I think I can now see a way forward.

If you do look at this, thanks for taking the time to read my post.  But most importantly, every day should be “time to talk” day.  And this time I didn’t press delete!!

Great post, I thank you for postiing this and very pleased for you. Take care.

That trend has changed significantly in the past few years. These players have been used this season by those clubs

Man City - Foden, Garcia, Harwood-Bellis, Delap, Doyle, Palmer, Nmecha and Barnabe.
Liverpool - Alexander-Arnold, Jones, RWilliams, NWilliams, Kelleher, Phillips, Clarkson, Wilson, Elliott, Koumetio
Man Utd - Rashford, Pogba, McTominay, Greenwood, Henderson, Tuanzebe, Williams, Lingard, Fosu-Mensah
Chelsea - Mount, James, Abraham, Christensen, Gilmour, Tomori, Anjorin, Loftus-Cheek

Very good point and likely to get worse as a result of Brexit. Big clubs were able to bring in good kids from the continent now that will not be the case anymore. As a result If their age group is not great they'll need to get young British kids and good category 1 academy like ours when the club is inot in the PLwill be the first port of call i would have thought. It stinks but money talks.
