Ashley supposedly has all this cash so if he truly wanted the club so much he would have been the preferred bidder ages ago.

Can I therefore just say that this newly-revealed talent, your 'Mike Ashley in a fight' rhetoric and your devotion to all things EFL has inspired me to try my hand. Squeezing all these elements into a humble limerick proved challenging for a novice, but unsurprisingly I found iambic pentameter beyond me.

Ebiowei, yes - talented, young and probably hitherto very cheap.  Rooney has raised it.  His wages are high, and whilst he does bring considerable value, you have to temper that against his cost.
A new owner might want a cheaper coach, or their own guy.  I think Rooney leaving makes us more valuable.  
 

That was when Morris was trying to sell the club, not in an administration scenario. Why would Clowes want a "silent partner" who clearly doesn't want to invest any more money into the club? 
I think some folk might have the bogie man stuck in their heads.

Regarding Rooney’s leaving, I remember when Brian Clough left. I was distraught. Thought we would be relegated, never win anything again. How wrong was I? So Rooney’s gone. Tough. But we’ll have a new manager. Who knows he might be better.
