EnigmaRam got a reaction from DCFC1388 in Summer Rumour Mill
Signing waggy as a 4th or 5th choice striker as an option off the bench and to cover injuries wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Low cost, low risk. I wouldn’t be against it. There’s better out there for sure. But they’re alot more expensive. But who knows who’s actually available once the dominoes begin to tumble

Really enjoyed that. We looked much better balanced. Some brilliant goals scored. Thought smith looked good, Bradley was a colossus at the back and Ward really looks a good player that will get many assists.
Was impressed with Collo for his goal. Came deep to the half way line then ended up in the box for a header.
Was also a great day for Fozzy and loved seeing Bryso, Nuge, Waggy and Jonno back in a Derby shirt at Pride Park.

Feel free to move or delete this admin, not sure if its already been posted, just couldnt see it.
Thought the big man deserved his own thread for his game and not just have it crambed in amongst all the other meaningless pre season fixtures.
10 years is incredible in this day an age, two horrible injuries and when u think, “ thats fozzy done - thinking that sheff wednesday game when he had a pig of a game… he bounce's back better than ever.
Will always be remembered fondly but “that” season under mac mk1 he was absolutely sublime. His first time low crosses were an absolute thing of beauty and is half the reason chrissy martin got as many as he did. He must have been a centre forwards dream to play with
hope it goes well for him and theres a good turn out
thanks for the memories foz 🐏🐏

EnigmaRam got a reaction from Caerphilly Ram in Is our budget any bigger than last year?
I agree to an extent. But what we don’t know is the running costs of the club and academy. We may get more in, but we probably pay more out too.

To be fair, Wednesdays top scorer has 16, 6 of which were penalties. Plymouths top scorer had 13, 4 which were penalties. Increasing our goals across the team is just as good as a 25 goal striker.
Peterborough, Derby, Portsmouth and Cheltenham had strikers scoring more goals than both Wednesday and Plymouth yet none went up.
I 100% agree we need more firepower, but the sum of the parts just needs to be better than last year

Seems to be down to Warnock needing to recruit more attackers before he will let Rhodes go.

sounds like Huddersfield want a replacement through the door first, which is understandable. Rhodes is on good money at Huddersfield £20k+ a week and I can't imagine we're taking that contract on. I think he will be very well compensated, of course, but not to the tune of £1m+ a year.

I ducking hope Collins scores and shuts up some of the vile, primitive nobs on here that masquerade as fans. Just find someone to hate why don’t you. He scored in The last preseason, he hit double figures last season in a make shift team. He isn’t a genius but he’s a good lad and doesn’t deserve the total garbage coming form some quarters

EnigmaRam reacted to MACKWORTHRAM in Jordan Rhodes - gone to Blackpool
So it's not done then is it.
If it was that close or "done' there's no chance Derby would agree to letting him play in a friendly.
Nor would Huddersfield play him in the friendly and risk a player that are getting rid of get injured.

We haven’t addressed one or two specific issues with the squad from last season…yet!
We have however added wing backs where we had none, meaning we don’t have to play central midfielders out of position.
We’ve added younger, more mobile options at cb with Bradley and Nelson in place of Davies/Chester/Stearman.
We’ve added a permanent second choice keeper when we only had a loan option last year.
We’re about to have 3 central striking options if we sign Rhodes when we finished the season with only 2.
We’ve got a couple of capable players in the u21s with Radcliffe in particular catching the eye so far.
We’ve added height and physicality too.
For those mentioning age profile relating to Rhodes, he’s one example. Elder is 29, Ward is 27, Vickers is 27, Bradley 31, Nelson 30, Wilson 23, Washington 31. They’re closer to that peak age than some of who they’ve replaced.
Rhodes is only one player, it won’t make or break the season if we sign him.

EnigmaRam got a reaction from McMuffin in Jordan Rhodes - gone to Blackpool
As much as I think he’d do a good job for us and score goals, my main disappointment is that we’ll be spending money we’ve just got off selling knight and Bielik on an over 30 player with no sell on value.
Id much rather we invest in some youth who’s values will potentially increase.
We can get a Lucas joao or assombalonga for free if we want an experienced player up top. No need to spend money on one.
