I like Paul Warne and am desperate for him to succeed at DCFC. I like his style, his honesty and feel he has integrity and moral compass. However, serious questions to be asked following yesterdays performance which was too similar to previous performances:
    - why is there such a lack of creativity in our play when he has had such a long time with this squad?
    - why do we not impose ourselves on weaker opposition, especially at home?
    - why does it take us to concede a goal in order for us to display energy and desire?
    - why do we never have any runners beyond Collins, when our tactic is so often hitting the ball directly towards him in the air? Seriously, what are we achieving with this tactic without runners around or beyond him?
    - why do players not appear more motivated when you consider our position and the opportunity we have, especially in the earlier parts of each game when we are far too passive?
My opinion is that if he and the coaching team can resolve the 5 questions above, we can and will make the automatic positions. If we continue not to, then the best we can hope for is a play off lottery, and I wouldn’t fancy our chances over two legs against anybody if the issues have still not been resolved. Quality coaching and leadership now required for the remainder of the season. 🐏

Totally agree , I would much prefer to see us playing a different style and a more ( we will score more than you attitude ) too many times seemingly holding on rather than taking the game away from opponents ,regardless of what happens this season this season I won't be doing the miles i do next season if we are still in L1 and if Warne ( who I like as a person ) is still in charge as I don't like how we play
When I start my journey to games from Kent I always start off with enthusiasm and  optimism ....that soon starts to diminish as soon as the game starts lol

hate the fact that we are set up so defensively
3 at the back and then sitting back yet again after taking the lead
similar to Southgate does and always bigging up the opposition
it’s good to be respectful but I hope he doesn’t talk to the players like that
Collo put in a decent shift apart from the offsides
Fair play to sibs - he’s stepped up whilst fozzie is injured
Max put in another decent performance in - I hope he continues like this for the rest of the season - I suspect as someone else mentioned, that Adams liberates him somewhat
Hope CBT can start contributing soon - NML could do with a hand

Absolutely. More idiocy from a truly inept tactician. Rancid football - predictable and ponderous in attack . All the clapping the fans and trying to become the next Ian Holloway with media friendly antics  cannot hide the fact that he is a truly terrible coach . We should wipe out Shrewsbury ( themselves an appalling team ) with the players at his disposal .What does he actually do all week ?

Most of it would have been ok if only we weren't so damned anxious. Attack attack, attack and the opponents in L1 would have a hard time. Now we show such respect for the away team that you can believe that it is Klopp's Liverpool who are standing there sooner than Shrewsbury.

Clowes won’t part ways with Warne. He will give him until 10+ games of next season before even considering a change.
It will definitely hit the attendances next season though, either way whether we’re in the Championship or League One.
It’s not good when I enjoyed our relegation season under Rooney more than this season. I genuinely came away from that season happy with performances on the pitch.

It's hardly my own metric. At the end of the season, the league table catches up with points per game to reveal the "true" positions. Effectively we're all close to 2 points a game, so if we'd all played the same amount of games, Bolton would be 3 or 4 points ahead of us, and Portsmouth 2, and we'd be a point ahead of Posh. That's the best way of objectively viewing the table right now, to judge our position.

Spot on pal. I’ve been watching us for 50 years and have seen some dreadful sides in that time, but I have rarely been so bored at games. Yes I’m grateful we still have a club and all that. I don’t particularly expect to get promoted from where we have been the last 12/18 months. But I DO like to enjoy my Saturday afternoons which I’m not watching Warneball. The football is negative and totally uninspiring. We have the players - despite obvious deficiencies up front - to play better but are constrained by the limited and under ambitious approach of our management. Yes we are second etc etc but I’m not enjoying this and I’m sure I’m not alone. Cue the happy clappers telling me to stay at home….

I wasn't surprised by the result nor the performance.
No control yet again against a really average side who we should be dominating against. Sat on a 1 goal lead for some bizarre reason. Our only saving grace was Adams coming in and finally stopped midfield from getting bulldozed, he's a great player for this side. Exactly what we need.
Every point we have picked up since the turn of the year feels like "that'll do." The standard football is "that'll do." Unimpressive, turgid guff with no confident platform to build on if we gained promotion. Winning or drawing purely based on a team which happens to have some quality when needed, absolutely nothing to do with the manager and his setup. It's deflating and I can't believe I feel like that in a promotion race. We did get unlucky at the end with the header that somehow ended up hitting the bar. But then I'd argue we should have been 1-0 down when Bradley yet again fluffed his clearance and their lad hit it wide.
Thought the crowd gave everything for the team today and did well to put up with more horrible football on offer. It's definitely déjà vu of last season but we don't have McGoldrick to bail Warne out this time.

I work on the basis that if I'm confused about all the positional changes from in front of my TV, the players must be absolutely baffled. Warne has won games with his subs recently, but he cost us two points today. Nobody seemed to know who they were marking or where they should be and it descended into primary school kick and chase at times.
Adams is fantastic though. Once he's fully match fit, he'll eat this league up. Perfect mix of nasty, ratty b****** and actual footballing brain (exactly what I thought Fornah would be).

    Sorry to read this Rev.
I have been like it for months. Can’t be arsed to pay a tenner to watch the tripe being served up; the 3 or 4 games I have actually seen since Stevenage on TV have all been underwhelming.
I still enjoy this forum, and find it far more entertaining to follow than actually watching the games. Logged on at 2 to see @Caerphilly Ram put the team news up, posted a few things, and decided with a 3 at the back not to hang around and simply checked the score at half time and full time.
Flicking through here tonight I read that again we played poorly. It was of course always going to be a difficult game, with Warne letting us know on Thursday that Shrewsbury had such a good midfield that we couldn’t try to go through them, just over and round them. The bloke is an absolute clown, and it continues to be my view that he is holding us back. No surprise that game management was a problem again in the final few minutes.

The thing is, PW knew how Shrewsbury would play, he talked about it pre match and yet he still got the tactics wrong. The lack of nous is soul destroying at times, it really is. We barely won any second balls, kept playing head tennis and the number of risky passes at the back was terrifying. We were playing a team in the bottom six who have been beaten by every one of our promotion rivals this season and yet they have taken 4 points out of 6 off us. Why does this stuff keep happening?

Well I had a few extra today to anesthetise me against what we were about to watch, but it didn't work - it was still painful!
The match officials were awful, yet again throughout the entire match, with the frustrating things being the consistent offsides for virtually every time we seemed to have broken through their lines. It would be interesting for forum members who sit in the East and West stands who may be in line with the play to tell us just how many times we really are offside. Are we just that bad at beating the offside trap? Especially s the first time Shrewsbury break clear the player is 4 or 5 yards offside but Eddie the Eagle-eyed linesman didn't see it! But the biggest issue is the holding and wrestling at corner kicks. Twice the ref gave a warning to Bradley and his opponent for the day, the second time signalling  "I'm watching you", then watched Bradley being bear-hugged over 8 or 9 yards but gave nothing, followed by Barkhuisen getting the same treatment, this time with his shirt being pulled 2 feet away from his body. All three times the ball was in play, so should have been penalties. Then Adams got hauled to the floor, and no he wasn't wrestling back, just trying to move toward the ball. But the ref proved he'd got n o balls by carding both of them. And while Adams was lying on the floor he was deliberately kicked by another defender, which in the days of real refs and real football rules is a red card. Although Hourihane was very lucky to not get a red card for that stupid challenge in the second half
So we could, and should have had two penalties, but it wasn't the ref who cost us the match. It was Paul Warne. He admitted to getting his line-up wrong for the first half, and the changes for the second half turned the match on its head. We were "tearing them a new one" for the spell up until the goal, and suddenly the league positions weren't lying. "Oohh this looks good" I foolishly thought. "Carry on like this and we will win comfortably"! Not thinking for a minute that having looked like a tactical clever man we wouldn't follow through. But Warne "Billy Davis'd it and got us sitting back defending the lead. And as ever, it only takes one bit of poor defending and the points were down the lav. HOW STUPID! HOW ABSOLUTELY STUPID!!!
And apart from one bit of bd defending, I can't fault the players today, apart from being forced to do what Warne says. The loss of points is purely down to making the team sit back once we've scored the one goal, because we have done it so many times, and we have paid the price far more times than we should have done. In terms of late goals alone, someone has posted that we have thrown  9 points away. We could literally be several points clear in first place. And that without having really turned up for mor than a few minutes all season, its just that this league is so diabolically bad even a team that is playing as poorly as we do can still be up near the top.
Listening to Warne's RD interview on the wat home, he did admit to getting his team selection wrong for the first half, but then put the blame for not going for the jugular on the players not being clinical enough. apparently it wasn't because he got them sitting back. He's dumped blame on the players before now, several times, but toward the end of the interview criticised them for not "Seeing the game out and taking our time". To me that is a giveaway that the players didn't fail because they weren't ruthless enough, but failed to "see the game out", which is another way of saying "sitting back on a 1 - 0 lead. Sorry Paul, this one is entirely on you.
And before Paul Warne or the happy clapper moan about the fans turning on him too easily, think again. The support was stupendous today, probably the best its been for a while, because it carried on for the full 90.
Sorry guys - its automatic or bust this season. We are capable of winning the play-off final, but for that we'd have to turn up, Warne would have to use the right tactics, and crucially, having got those things right, we'd still be in the hands of the match officials. With decent refereeing our useless tactics wouldn't have mattered today.

While driving to the ground I got the biggest bird poo ever land splat on my screen. I wasn’t going to risk a “this is a sign” comment. Looks like I was right. It wasn’t. The lucky scarf from last week failed as did resolutely sticking to the same turn style. If we are going up it isn’t going to be via mystic portents.
Meh game, didn’t create enough. Momentary lack of concentration cost us. They were speedy and worked hard, we were ok but didn’t create enough. We were the better side but cracks are there and we need options. React against Exeter and all will be well.
They were a bit keen on the man handling and ref was less than helpful. 45 points up for grabs and no one behind us made any ground. Adams looks the business, he will make a difference.

We are second in the brimming league shouldn’t it be the opposition that worry about us. Stop making us mentally into an under dog team and start taking the game to the opposition

That game was Warne all over - poor disjointed first half and go ahead in the second with one moment of quality.
Sit back and try to hold on then acted shocked that we don’t.
Why don’t we ever push on and try to score more rather than sitting back ?! Why not take advantage of the twelfth man ? Look how much the crowd get behind you when we do attack ? Why can’t Warne see this ?
People will scoff but his tactics are woeful.
