plymouthram got a reaction from jimtastic56 in Need an owner and quick, a total reset and build for League One
And that's still to be proved, in the year that he's been in charge, it's been transfer embargo's, free transfers, loans, points deductions, covid (no fans in stadium to urge the team on), Injury to key players (Bielik, Knight etc), loss of fitness coach and the list could go on. If Messi was to hang his boots up this season and become coach of Notts County, the investors would also be knocking at the door even though he would be a novice coach.
Famous footballers attract sponsors/monies. Qatar are paying Beckham £150m to be one of their ambassadors for next years world cup.

Why should we start the reset in League one. If we get a result this week with the appeal on the 12 points. We get new owners in place before January all bills are paid, embargo is lifted, Bielik is back and at his best, we have a natural goalscorer smacking them in from January until the end of the season. The 9 points for FFP does not materialize during this season, the team have still have 30 games to play.

The question is, is he in the position to rehash the recruitment/scouting team due to monies etc. He may have put this to Mel and the CEO and was told NO (we've got no money). I'm sure Rooney Knows like the rest of us, if we had an out and out striker we would be a better team. Lets hope a new owner and January will be good for us

You can moan and pick fault, but the problem with Derby is obvious. We do not have an out and out goalscorer. This was a problem with the club for about 3 seasons now and you can't blame Rooney for that. Lets hope we get bought and the new owners can supply some monies for the January transfer window. Rooney being a prolific scorer should be able to identify a young striker possibly from league 1 or 2 because i don't think we will be in the market for a Premier or championship standard player.
Then in March onwards will be the time to judge him and his coaches

Yeah, I think it's hard to envisage outside of football manager what could be done to try and secure our survival. It would be interesting to see if anyone has a useful hypothetical but I'd generally agree I think that the deduction along with the threadbare squad makes relegation almost an inevitability. I do feel our best results would naturally come earlier on when the small squad would be under less pressure from fatigue, injuries, suspensions etc. and that this could get much uglier around Christmas and January time.

No, we can't sack him and he should at least stay until the end of the season as you say it's pointless sacking him now and wasting money for a hope of survival that's unlikely to come to fruition. I'd imagine he'd want to be rid of us by then at that point anyway instead of hanging around in the third division.

It is a reasonable question. Personally, the way I view it is that Rooney took over a team that was in crisis last season, and stumbled his way to the end of the season. It wasn't great, and it was pretty fortunate. But we did get there.
This season I think we've been ok. With the intangibles such as the impact of the club going into administration, us training with players we had no idea if we could sign, and the large points deduction, I think the results have been acceptable. In certain matches we've looked good. Certainly at times we've not had the rub of the green this season so far.

How exactly could he have "brought his own people in"? With what, monopoly money? He brought 5 players in on loan in January : before the end of the season, they'd all gone back to their clubs injured bar Roberts. We all know what happened over the summer.
What exactly has he had the chance to do that could possibly have been on his wish list?

Let's be honest, last season isn't relevant is it? So why you're dragging that up is just to push your agenda.
We've been on the whole tough to beat, had too many draws probably but been competitive in almost all of our games. We've been doing reasonably well for a team without a good level striker and with two ancient centre halves.

I don't think for one minute a reputable firm of Administrators would come up with the answer "why not". Everything they do with cutting staff, wages etc is done with lots of planned thought. The appeal is probably not solely based on Covid, also nearly every other club were given a loan from the EFL. The other possible points deduction for the FFP is down to the appeal being won by the EFL. Lets not forget the finding by the independant board was resubmitting 3 years of accounts and £100k fine (which Rick Parry was not happy with), hence why they appealed against it.
Yes, the priority is for the club to survive and become sustainable. I don't think a business fom USA are going to use us like a toy, most Yankie companies are very successful and look at Derby being a good viable asset to make money from especially if the club find on field success which would attract bigger sponsorship etc. Stating the yank (I am assuming you mean Chris Kirchner) having no evidence of being able to fund us, the administrators have already stated that he is a creditable buyer. You seem to be basing your assumptions on the fact the adminstrators are a bunch of cowboys.

It's our Administrators that's pushed an appeal through against the 12 points, so they must know we have a good case to appeal. Surely they would'nt be wasting our miserly funds on a case that does not have a chance of coming out in our favour. Looks as if the EFL want to lock the gate firmly shut knowing that we might make ground on this appeal. Stopping any others winning appeals and making them look unprofessional (which they are).
