Probably wears them out dancing on Tik Tok videos.

And what's this thing where players, Cashin is one, tear their footy socks? Are they too tight? Get a bigger size. Sheesh.

I think it’s got something to do with helping blood circulation…or he’s been watching a lot of fashion TV and likes the ripped jeans effect

  2. I was frustrated and disappointed leaving the ground on Tuesday. It sounded slightly better yesterday - a win fixes a lot of problems. However, I actually think Warne’s team looks better set up away from home. The 5 at the back can play slightly more defensive, and look to soak some pressure (3 CB’s who want to win the ball and get rid by nature).

At home, where we’re expected to have the ball more, it looks clunky and doesn’t work. But away from home, his style probably suits it more. We’ve only had 1 test run, and it was against a poor Burton, but we’ve got a 100% away record. Got to be worth something!?

Ok, to split hairs..Rooney is a defender..right backs are defenders!

Forsyth played most of last season as a CB..and did very well.

Elder has always been a left back, not a LWB.

Waghorn has played most of the last few years either wide or as a second striker...

My round pegs fit pretty well ta..just Sibley who isn't quite fit yet..

No worries mate. As I said, was just putting it across that the pegs aren’t perfectly circular. Best we can do at the minute though

Who’s to say Thomas and co have been brought it to start working on next summer when we can are not tied up by the EFL and we can start spending a little more? Clowse is a good business man he’ll be looking into the future more than just now

Also been suggested that Thomas is the one recruiting for the academy/U23 squad, including the lad from Rangers etc. they could turn into solid players in a season or 2

Try: Round pegs in round holes!

                          Wildsmith

    Rooney   Forsyth    Cashin      Elder

              Thompson Hourihane

    NML              Sibley            Waghorn

                          Collins

Just to play devils advocate - you’ve suggested a central player at RB, a former left back at CB, a wing back at full back and a forward on the left wing! Not exactly all round pegs, more hexagonal pegs that fit in the round holes but not perfectly. But then again, maybe that’s the best we can hope for!

Don’t agree with those saying he’s watching a different game to the rest of us. Rarely in an interview post match has he not called it right in my view. Wigan wasn’t bad just wrong result which can happen, Blackpool was horrific, and last night was poor and I don’t think Warne was denying it wasn’t, especially the first half. Second half we built some pressure for about 15 mins and it was much better, the fans also responded at this point. But then Cashin mis-plays a pass they nearly score and we just went back to the passive performance of the first half.

Some neutrals were sat behind me saying “3 games in and they’re already booing, wow!”, which I thought was interesting.

Seen a lot of people slating Bradley and Nelson and id agree they haven’t started their Derby careers well, but Fozzy was just as awful last night, Cash and Bird were poor also. As a collective the players should be doing better. We also desperately need some pace in the team and some players back from injury. Elder still isn’t fit. Seen enough to suggest Waggy and Washington will do a decent job for us this season we need others to step up around them.

Its only 3 league games, I’m trying not to be concerned, I would be less concerned if i could see improving performances which I can’t see right now. If this goes on for another 6 games and we don’t pick up points then both Warne and Clowes will be under severe pressure.

My first game this season last night, and I’ll sadly disagree. Second half was just as bad as the first. In fact, it was probably more disappointing. Oxford stepped off us a bit, but there was a passage of about 5 minutes where we didn’t have the ball, apart from 3 times…and all 3 times we played it forward to their midfield and gave up possession.

It was embarrassing. We got lucky to get our goal (good finish from Waggy) except it wasn’t. I actually think their goalkeeper looked poor, but we didn’t test him at all. He constantly fluffed or nearly dropped high balls, and kept ripping things over the bar that weren’t that close to going in. I think Warne tried to look for positives, but worryingly saw some that blatantly weren’t there last night

After a night of reflection I don’t think Oxford was as bad as Blackpool. What stood out last night was how much quicker they were than us.(Warne agreed). I got pelted a few weeks ago for saying the signings were poor. If we could just add a speedy young striker and a midfielder that could tackle - we may just scrape into the play offs.

It wasn’t just pace and youth that made them quicker though. Theirs players wanted the ball more. They beat us to most first balls and nearly every second ball. Our players were on their heels far too often. They were in our faces as soon as we got to their half, not giving us time or space. And then they sprang forward when they got it back. Whereas we lacked any ideas about how to get forward when we got it, short of kick it long.

Unless you know more than me, how do you know he didn't prioritise that? It is likely just a very difficult position to fill given our circumstances. But hey, blame Warne in the absence of any evidence.

Let’s be honest, I don’t know more than most of us. It’s purely my frustrated view.

As I said, it was obvious from last season that we needed to bring in defenders to fit the system if we wanted to play 3/5 at the back. We also needed something more up front, with loanees leaving. Warne prioritised the defence, as he got those in first.

If the club are unable to spend much, as even Warne has intimated in recent reports, they spent the bulk on defensive reinforcements. That suggests priority, at least in my eyes.

Good win today, helped by a steadier defence. I’m less frustrated now

Youve started with a false premise again. How do you know that Warne didn't make replacing McGoldrick a priority this summer? I don't like too think that Warne would need to be told that he will have to think about replacing his leading goalscorer.

What you have done is then jump to the conclusion that because in your opinion we haven't adequately replaced McGoldrick then this wasn't seen as being important by Warne.

We were hellishly lucky to pick him up last season for nowt and also his previous season ls didn't exhibit the same amount of goals scored as we saw last season.

Maybe it's because the bargain basement bucket is now running dry of players we can get in for free and score shed loads of goals. That are the right side of 30. That have oodles of pace. For nothing.

And what you’ve done is look for opportunities to argue. I think he prioritised defenders to fit his 3/5 at the back. He said he wanted to, we needed to. And we did. I’m happy enough with the players he got in.

However, that means he didn’t prioritise a striker.

Warne was having conversations with McGoldrick as soon as the season ended. He’s said as much. He also intimated that he was aware of McG’s desire to return home. So that tells us that he could have started planning then. That’s June. 2 months ago.

I'm glad he got defenders he wanted. I understand that the striker market is slow/empty/whatever you want to call it. But you can’t tell me he didn’t focus on the defence over the attack.

Also worth adding I appreciate any and all money that Clowes puts into the club. I’m simply sharing my frustration. Not sure I need your input, as I’m not demanding anything other than a chance to vent. Which is what the forum is.

Warne said he hopes to get a striker & midfielder in next week as well as Sibley & Barkhuizen back training.

He mentioned losing Didzys goals & Knights energy in midfield & they need replacing.

The frustrating thing is - he’s known about these departures for a while. Didzy was earlier in Summer and interest in Knight had been around for a while. You prepare for that. You make that a priority. Instead, we’re left chasing our tails! So frustrating

  11. I feel like Warne has to start with the Nelson and Bradley again, just to build up minutes and cohesion. They’re not going to improve without game time, and gives Sonny the opportunity to make amends for past 2 games.

Ward has already cemented RWB, while Fozzy at LWB may be better than Elder until he’s fitter. Waggy and NML either side of Collins, then 2 in midfield.
