I agree - nothing wrong with criticism that's constructive. Equally annoying though are the posters who use every thread possible to work in their obvious anti-Warne diatribe - it's tedious and boring.

How strange, the football is so much better when you use the midfield instead of bypassing it. Who would have thought 🤷‍♂️

I will always go to games but this season is a struggle to get the motivation to go tbh. It’s like being invited to a relatives party you don’t like and you need to show your face for a bit. To not have a single shot on target since Peterborough apart from 2 penalties is criminal.

what the hell he has done in 2 weeks training is beyond me. In fact we might aswell scrap training because all we are doing is getting players injured and practicing kicking the ball 60 yards.

Warne’s style is predicated on chaos - catching the opposition out of shape and moving the ball forward quickly. There isn’t much more to it.
The reason we look so out of sorts at times is that there just isn’t a controlled progression to our play, it’s zero to a hundred. Individualised system. We beat bad teams, we struggle against organised teams. We lack simple game management, anyone who would slow the tempo is told essentially not to do it. They play to the manager’s beat.
Warne hasn’t helped himself with recruitment. We haven’t signed players suited to percentage football, we’ve carried on signing technical players but we don’t play the ball to feet - they are categorically told to pass into space, not to feet. I get the feeling the players are a little disillusioned with how the club is run, both from coaching point of view and from the top down. How many of our out of contract players are going to want to stick around? Fans too are a little disillusioned. I don’t think the approach/mindset is much different to that under Mel Morris, but just run on a sustainable budget.
It needs to be said that we are paying people footballers wages, £5-10k a week, whereas teams in this league pay about the same as what a good car salesmen earns - £1.5-2k a week. The disparity is massive. Not in pound and pence, maybe, but definitely in marginality.

Exactly I mentioned this a couple weeks ago. Before we hired Warne the first footballing thing Clowes should have done was figure out what style of football should this club adopt and what will fans enjoy and then hired a manager who fits that or a director of football to implement this from a wider club standpoint so therefore we are impenetrable from the manager merry go round. Currently we have a plan in which if Warne goes by sacking or if he gets snatched by being successful (if pig's fly!) then what? What direction do we go next?
It's so counter-intuitive to not have every single age group playing the same formation because you have potentially a talent in the youth who could never make his breakthrough because the first teams tactic's are so alien to them. Max Bird is an early example. He's been moulded by playing 4-3-3 learning off Thorne/Huddlestone. From what i've seen of the Under 21 and 18's they both still playing 4-2-3-1. How are we ever going to find out if there is a wing back in the youth for Warne's 5-3-2 if that's the case.
Arguably i think the majority of us enjoy a possession based 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 because that's what we've been used to over the last 10 years that's why Warne's football is so grating to a lot of us because we have not been used to this style of play. You could say patience and time could help it but I just see clear gaps in the future progression of the club on the pitch.

Was going to like the post until this point.
It's not really a 'choice' as such for most to go and watch Derby,  it's ingrained from a very young age and a habitual act, and many find forums a way to release those emotions and reaction, positive or negative.
"If you don't like it go and watch that lot down the a52"... errr, no.
It's far easier for someone to continue watching the football, but keep off reading the forums when there's so much they clearly hate about the way people react to what's on offer.

It was if Eustace went to Rangers.
Wayne is not doing so well in the US.
Someone put it brilliantly on this forum the other day:  "Rooney wasn't a great manager but he was a great figurehead, at a time when we needed a figurehead more than a manager".

If after a year people are still asking “have we even seen Paul Warnes style of football” there’s obviously something not right.

It is a interesting point you raise.
I think with LR at least you could see the improvements and progress within a short space of time, in terms of entertainment and creating good chances. Was it Fleetwood away where we absolutely destroyed them and somehow we couldn't hit the ball in the net. 30 plus shots or something ridiculous. As a supporter I came away thinking we were highly unlucky and you can see a plan and pattern of play being created.
With Paul Warne there is no plan. There is no pattern of play. He is trying to turn technical footballers into 15km a match athletes. A polite term would be clunky football currently. Today I will give him a pass because he nearly beat a very competitive Portsmouth team. But the football was hideous, we looked like the away side, he is so lucky how many supporters still turn up every week to back him and the team. This squad has so much more to give in my view and yet they are being hampered by a manager who still has not got his head around managing a bigger club. When you come to a larger reputation team like ours, the manager needs to adapt and evolve his ideas. I'm not saying play Pep slick passing football every week. At least if you want to play a counter attacking style, identify and recruit players with pace and energy and not lads in the twilight of their careers.
Lovely chap off the pitch, he could talk my ear off in a pub. Watching his dreadful attempt at football is becoming embarrassing. And I'll cheer the lads until the 98th minute at the ground. If we was an underdog team in this division I could accept the Warne way. With this budget and caliber of player, surely we can play much better than this?

Not for this one . He's useless.
They're professionals of many years on the whole who'll be plenty fit enough or too old, won't get any fitter and they shouldn't have been brought here in that case.
You don't need to be fit enough to run a marathon in 2 hrs if you let the ball do some of the work and retain possession.
His fitness obsession just hides his own shortcomings.

I would make an argument that these are all quite valid things to critique a football manager on in fairness.
He makes this jovial personality into a big part of his management style, if some fans are against it, I’d hazard a guess that there would be players that would be as well.
There’s a lot more to football management than tactical nous.
Personally I think Paul Warne comes across as a decent genuine bloke. I think  a few times this season he’s let his openness and passion get the better of him, but I don’t think he’s a bad person at all.
However, he does come across as a bit of a people pleaser, and almost trying too hard to do so. Says all the right things but really fails to deliver on a lot of them.
I genuinely wish him success, that said I don’t think it’ll be at Derby, and if it is I hope it’s playing a significantly different style of football.

Agreed, it seems odd but  I think it’s probably circumstantial. I guess the question Warne had to ask himself was does he start NML who has travelled and is possibly fatigued but in theory is match fit? Or start a Sibley/Barkhuizen/Wilson who are returning from injury and a risk because of that?

Today wasn’t a good performance, but it wasn’t terrible either, we got a point against a side in good form. The minutes for Sibley, Barkhuizen, Wilson and Embleton are a plus, and whilst I don’t wish injury on anyone, Hourihane’s could end up being a blessing if it means Warne has to start a Sibley/Radcliffe/Robinson.

Most damning indictment of the whole thing was Dom Dietrich interviewing James Collins afterwards, he asked what directive Warne had given him before going on: “be busy, put yourself about and if a chance comes, take it” (probably a slight paraphrase there). If run around and try and score a goal is the extent of the tactical guidance they’re being given, what hope have we got.

We should be looking at automatic promotion this season no excuses and the way we are going we look worse than last season and are miles off from looking like a top 6 side in a poor division.

As soon as we scored, the instruction went out to play 5 at the back - despite us being pretty solid with a 4.

Barks, playing in his 4th position in 30 mins, wasn’t close enough to stop the cross…..but he isn’t a LWB.
Fozzy hadn’t given their winger a sniff and had been super tight to him in a back 4.
Stupid negative tactics should be blamed for loss of 2 points and not Barks.
Thought ref was excellent 1st half and pretty rubbish 2nd half…..for both sides.
Draw was fair result but so disappointing….Pompey nothing spectacular

It’s because there’s nothing to get excited about going to watch games mate. I dread it if I’m being honest because we launch it up to a 5’7 striker who is too small to win anything. We play far too many defensive players which is why we lack creativity. I’d sack him now but I know Clowes won’t. Cambridge would be the game where if we don’t win it, with players coming back to full fitness then I think he’ll go.

Unfortunately when there are posters around who exclusively wish to (rather ironically) pick other posters apart for their views picking apart the management team, or their method of expressing them, and offer bugger all else to the discussion, there will always be disharmony.

Im still fuming we got rid of Rosenoir. I wasnt happy at the time and im even more so now. Why was Rosenoir sacked?? I could really go in to depth on some stuff...but can anybody argue we looked a better side and with a plan under Rosenoir? Rosenoir hardly had McGoldrick either did he? The football now is woeful. Its boring and toothless.
