Bald Eagle's Barmy Army reacted to G STAR RAM in The coronabrexit thread. I mean, coronavirus thread
The only really relevant stat you have quoted in that is the number of people being told to isolate.
I guess the Government will continue to act on things when they continue to be pressured by people quoting completely irrelevant numbers?
As of yesterday:-
3786 people in hospital (capacity 40k?)
545 patients on ventilation (capacity 30k)
67.1% of adults have had both vaccinations
87.5% have had one vaccination

Will wearing masks on trains and pub table service save them 73000 lives then? Hasnt seemed to over the last 16 months.

Wayne's speech ... blimey that really has disheartened me.
I hope I'm wrong, but I cannot think of a good manager who is not a good communicator.

Why is it not always going to be possible to stay away from me?
If I see someone wearing a mask I will know they are still scared of the virus and will be able to make sure I keep my distance.

Got pinged by the app today & told to isolate for 3 days instead of 10, so the exposure must have been when I went out for a few beers in Lincoln a week ago.
Double jabbed and negative lateral flow result this afternoon.
Isolating? Bugger that.

Light at the end of the tunell?
For the last 5 or so weeks, since Delta variant took hold, infections have been rising at about 70% a week. But over the past week that figure has been dropping day by day.
Today the figure is 30% week on week growth.
So infections are still increasing, but at about half the rate they were last week.
Maybe, just maybe, the vaccination rate is getting to the point where the virus is struggling to find new people to infect.
Fingers crossed we are in the end game.

Do you have a family? A nice house? A reasonable lifestyle?
What about someone that lives in a noisy flat in a crappy area? Or someone in an abusive relationship? Or someone that lives alone miles from any family or friends? I could go on...
Its strange how many people there are that can sit in a nice house, surrounded by family, drinking Belgium beer that don't seem to be able to understand that for others the social interactions of mixing face to face with real people is what keeps them sane.
Sure for some people working from home is the future - personally I've done it myself for 10+ years and can't imagine going out to work for someone else ever again but I appreciate that I have a great family, a nice house and all the luxuries I want.
I always think back to the early days of the first lockdown when Sky News ran an article about covidiots, showing a picture of a park full of people - a park that had several tower blocks in the background. The writer obviously had no clue about anything other than his own lifestyle and the fact that for some people getting out of their home for an hour was an essential part of their day.
For others lockdowns/working from home has been akin to solitary confinement - or worse. Whilst productivity may have not taken a nose dive the need to get back to normal, to get out of the house and talk to real people again is paramount.
To me its seems that the middle class twitterati minority and media classes moaning about Boris opening up again can't see beyond their own privileged lifestyles, which is why they have lost all connection with the working classes.

Anyone watching BBC news?
They've just had a woman who must have been 20 stone, and used her as a plea to get vaccinated because Covid made her really ill.
Do they really think people are going to take any notice?

You mean like this?
Picking up sniffs and sniffles etc is part and parcel of life and makes us healthier as a species in the long run.
Living behind a mask, avoiding coughs and colds, constantly sanitizing will eventually lead to more people struggling with illnesses in the future.

Covid is very very much like colds and bugs ,in fact it’s from the same family as the common cold,
we are robust creatures who build our immunity s to illness through catching stuff ,, if we go down the route you propose we will become very very fragile and many many things ( not just covid ) will become dangerous and killers , but hey just ignore everything that science and medicine has learnt over hundreds of years , the immune system of humans is a fantastic piece of kit ,your kind of thinking will ultimately destroy it and us

Sorry but people have lost the plot ,,, or rather scared out of and bribed out of the plot,
we get colds , we get bugs , we get viruses,it’s a massive part of what keeps us healthy and robust and if we go down the route of this madness being pushed we are going to evolve into a species that is vulnerable to and really endangered by the slightest every other thing that touches us ,
but hey let’s just destroy the way we build and keep resistance to illness and let’s make it legal for everybody to not work at the slightest sign of a cold and grind the country to a halt ??♂️

But people with limited income often won't/can't take that chance, how will they survive until a new job, or will they get a reference? They'll probably be unable to sign on, etc.
I think the best you could hope for is that workers with 'sniffles' wear a mask, as often occurs in other parts of the world?

Bald Eagle's Barmy Army reacted to Ambitious in EFL Verdict
I just went back in time and wanted to see how our spending stood up against other teams in the league. Surprisingly, in three of our last four posted accounts, the wage bill of Derby County was HALF of the team spending the most in the league. We have only ever been in the top 6 spending clubs in the division once - 15/16.
Not bad for a club RUINING football with their reckless overspending, eh?
2014-15: Wage Bill - £21.8m - 33.5% of the wage bill of the highest spending team in the Championship
2015-16: Wage Bill - £32m - 78.04% of the wage bill of the highest spending team in the Championship (most competitive year, 5th highest in the league).
2016-17: Wage Bill - £34.6m - 30.83% of the wage bill of the highest spending team in the Championship
2017-18: Wage Bill - £40.5m - 42.63% of the wage bill of the highest spending team in the Championship
