Frankie Beverley has died aged 77. Some may think "who?" for which they'd be forgiven, but the music he created and played with his band Maze was an important part of my youth, going way back to 1977 with the release of their first album. Prior to that, I'd come across a few tracks from his earlier solo work that were popular on the Northern Soul circuit. To British Soul fans, he was a cult hero whilst, to black Americans, he was like one of the family. Soulful, reflective, spiritual and funky, he covered the whole genre. RIP Frankie.

Since my meltdown on this board 2 or 3 years ago, I've had a couple of slip-ups, but I am currently on day 292 sans alcohol.
The first few days were tough and a couple of holidays were challenging, but other than that, I don't miss it and I'm a LOT better off financially.
I'd be foolish to say I'll never drink again, but I feel reasonably confident I won't
