Met the man himself today, picking up his new Bentley Bentayga W12 from derby....had a good chat with him about derby and Birmingham.

He said he's happy to come back to derby after the world cup if derby want him although Brum are doing their best to hang onto him.

Says he's a fan of our new style of play and reckons we will do better under a more experienced manager and coaching staff.

What a lovely guy by the way, just loves football (and cars!)

Not a dig at the guy but more football in general

But it's mental that a player that's yet to really break through massively (albeit an international), are already made in terms of finances.

Its today's game I suppose but players have it good these days even if their career takes a sideway step

Comments like "I've never been more embarrassed to be a Derby supporter" and "we can't win consecutive games" are what i had in mind, just as 2 examples. Allot of the stuff goes much further than merely 'raising concerns', or at least come across to me that way. The counterpoint views have mainly been posters pointing out that we weren't playing against any ordinary U21 side and our own selection had an element of 'training game' approach which produced a poor performance that many felt others were reading too much into.

I expect negative comments after any defeat but these, coming after a good performance on Saturday seemed well OTT to me.

I am finding a new breed of fan rising from ashes of admin, that seems over the top with comments.

If we lose, worst game ever, sack the players, talking like defeats aren't a normal part of the game. It's so frustrating it's like they've not watched football before.

Maybe I just missed them before but especially online at least, some of our fans are becoming very intolerable at times.

And that isn't a dig at anyone in particular, this forum is by far the best for reasonable debate and opinion. FB makes me want to just quit football at times

  3. Didn't see the game unfortunately, but I think it was important to get that first away win for Warne early on, so for me this is worth more than 3 points.

If we'd looked average, even above average and failed to win, the worry about will we ever win away again would set in. It could easily become this annoyance in the background for Warne and his team.

That's out the way now though

Just out of interest, does anyone know if there have been any formal investigations or challenges made in to Quantuma’s practice, relating to the Administration process ?

    Who will make the challenge?

Rightly or wrongly, how it ended will be how they were judged I think, not the faff before that. I think every party involved is happy with the end result and would rather draw a line under it and move on

More than twice the number of Rams fans have voted not to call off Saturday’s game. It seems like showing Respect is a thing of the past. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and perhaps an  “Away day bender”  is more important.

Not a royalist either but it does seem many are unhappy at being inconvenienced...

Personally I think any formal sporting/entertainment occasions should have been cancelled.

The Queen has died, this is a huge event in history.

  6. And onto the window

    8

    At least

I think with what's gone on, a 9 or 10 were probably unachievable, but the squad we have assembled should be challenging for promotion.

They get a pass this season because of how late it came together, and the time it takes to gel as a team. But with our budget (even with restrictions), we should be at least in the playoffs. We are defo in the top 6 biggest clubs and turnover

Yes, he also implied that Sibley hadn't got that sort of role model last season, which tells us all we need to know about Tom Lawrence and Ravel Morrison.

I think we already knew that about both of them, I love Ravel and how he finally found his feet, and I've no doubt he has grown up from what he was.

But... its hard to have underachieved as much as he has and still be taken seriously as a role model.. He's at best a lesson in how to not let it go to your head.

Same with Lawrence, I didn't want him to leave, or was one of those anti him. But its hard to look upto a drink driver, that potentially on another day could have killed someone.

Sibley was probably more grown up than both of them ?

Stuff like this needs regulating. If there are no trains back after the match it shouldn't be allowed. It's a crap journey by car anyway let alone having to do it on a Friday evening.

Skysports (or anyone moving it), should work towards making sure cheap travel is available to and from the game.

For how much they pay, would it be that much of an inconvenience for them to work with train companies making sure a subsidised train service was available etc

i am not going to stick up for roy hodgson

but he is right in the comment that he didnt have the physicality for the prem at that time, that is why he went austria and no other prem team took a gamble on him straight away. i am sure plenty would have been watching him.

i dont think anybody saw him becoming the striker he has become when he was at molde. but then he grew into a physical monster. look at his goal records as a player both internationally and nationally, he really exploded as a player when he had the growth spurt in 2018/19

    Also

If they had taken a chance, one good season and he'd have been poached by the big clubs, for a reasonable profit. He wouldn't have shot them to greatness

I'm just trying to think of players who didn't make it because of the physicality. It seems like it's something you can work on if you think they are good enough. Look at Ronaldo when he came, he was a scrawny teen

being fair to roy he was probably right at that time

haaland was a small striker up until he had a freakish growth spurt. that is probably why he is so well rounded as a player because he played like an agile forward.

he is only a few cm's taller than solskjaer here when he played for molde

Who has bags of talent, succeeded elsewhere but didn't in the prem? And the reasoning down to not being physical enough?

Surely if you have undeniable talent, physicality can be trained?

Took a look but the questions are fairly daft, take the first one. If you're going round fan forums like this, is there not a reason why we are all here?

The rest are similar in daftness and not sure how interesting this could ever be.

For what it's worth, it's unlikely the results will ever be shared with us as it's a paste a link and never grace this forum again.

    Have to agree

I started it and thought some of the questions were a little... odd

I also found it a bit long winded, so many questions that I answered without much thought (maybe that's better as its instinctive), just found myself clicking the same thing a lot.

I didn't go to uni though, so maybe I'm just a thicko that doesn't know what he is talking about

  12. I'm enjoying it so far, but that wouldn't last if we start to struggle, and there's unique circumstances.

With whats happened the last two years, I'm just glad to get back to football, on field talk not what's happening behind the scenes. Its nice to see some different faces after so long in the championship as well.

But as much as I'm enjoying it, going up won't fill me with overwhelming joy and emotion, it will be more relief and job done type thing. And I dont expect to go straight up but if we are here in two years getting ready for a third In this division, any novelty will have well and truly worn off.

Watching this boxing event tonight with KSI, before I go on I would like to add that I have not paid for it...ahem.

The fact he's even taking 2 fights on in one night is making a mockery of the sport, ok the first opponent has 2 weeks experience and was more of a chase me Daddy type fight, but still.

The other fights have been atrocious and they are filling 40k seater stadiums with it and selling huge PVP numbers for these nights!

I just can't wrap my head around it all, sure you can argue the entertainment value in just how bad it is, I mean I still have it on now for that reason, but those paying money for it need to give their head a wobble.

Massively making a joke out the sport, when it was the odd fight between two non fighters, with a grudge to settle then I could tolerate it.

The money in boxing isn't great, you don't really make much until you start getting on decent undercards on PPV or bigger fights. Even some really good fighters struggle if they aren't on the Eddie Hearn bandwagon. It must be so disheartening to put your life into the sports, winning fights, making your way but barely earning a wage after your expenses. And then you switch the TV on for some you tube celeb, cashing in on the sport. Part of me doesn't blame them though, they are looking after themselves but something doesn't feel right for me
