  1. Nixon reporting tomorrow on a player we like…think we can all agree on it being Ebou Adams even though the last time he mentioned us…he linked Ebou with us already. Be nice if it was Rodak or a player Warne has been looking at in a different country.

My guess is that we’ve sent a contract offer to Jacob Murphy but so have other clubs if it’s not to do with Ebou Adams

  2. We announced Ward and Vickers last year on the 20th June. I wouldn’t expect any signings until late June/early July. It would be nice to start off with a signing like Rodak who Warne knows very well. He’s been sat on the bench at Fulham for a couple of years now and will want first team football. I can see the majority of our signings will be frees and loan signings but it would be nice to see us splash the cash on some good attackers.

  3. Ben Hamer has just been released from Watford and I think he’s worth a shout….only joking I’d rather have Rammie in net.

Anyway, Daniel Iversen is an upgrade on Joe Wildsmith and arguably the best keeper out there in terms of who we can afford. Very good reflexes, his kicking is not the best but he’d definitely be one of the best keepers in the league.

  4. Looking at players who have been released or who are yet to sign new deals I hope Warne will go after a few of these players:

    Goalkeeper: Daniel Iversen

A player Warne knows well, had a good loan at Preston a few years back and at the age of 26 will want to be a starter

    Centre Back: Josh Knight

Similar situation to when we signed Ward last season, offered a new deal at Peterborough but hopefully he comes to us instead

    Centre midfielder: Herbie Kane

Good track record in league 1 contributing 15 goals/assists. Decent age as well

    Centre midfielder: Shandon Baptiste

He’d be my top target but I can see a club like Burnley or Sheffield United going in for him. Would be a very good signing

    Attacker: Tyrese Campbell

Had some bad injuries over the past couple of seasons but is still a very talented player.

A list of players who would command a fee:

    Ebou Adams

    Joe Taylor

    Adam Phillips

    Sorba Thomas

If we’re going to spend a million or 2 I hope it’s on a striker.

  5. With Warne supposedly being ruthless, it’s quite good in the sense he is then able to bring in his own players. If Wildsmith keeps turning down offers from us then it’s best to let him go and get someone like Iversen in who wants to be a number of 1. As for other players, it’s time for likes of Forsyth to leave. The championship has improved since the last time we were in it and we can’t have another summer transfer window like the last.

Some good talent available on frees this summer

    Herbie Kane

    Nicky Cadden

    Marek Rodak

    Paddy McNair

    Marcus McGaune

    Tyrese Campbell

    Alan Browne

I think we will see a lot of free transfers coming in but I think the centre midfield situations certainly needs addressing. My ideal players signings for fees would be:

Adam Phillips and Joe Taylor who are both easily championship quality.

  7. I reckon Warne in his presser will mention how close we were to signing someone which will just infuriate us even more. This business plan needs shoving up someones a**e.  I’m sure a few fans agree that if we don’t go up this season then it’s time we say bye to Warne coz there is no way I’d trust him with actual money in league 1.

  8. People saying not to blame Warne need to give their head a wobble. Two Sheffield Wednesday outcasts as targets…one injury prone (there’s a shock). Extending TJJ’s contract when he is made of a glass, so many players show their ‘quality’ in training but I didn’t see any potential in him. CBT is a very good signing and I hope Adam’s is. Warne’s style of play will put players off from joining so it doesn’t surprise me we didn’t get anyone in. There’s still no structure with this club either and there won’t be until Pearce has gone. We need answers and I don’t think we will get the serious stuff from Warne in his presser tomorrow. Clowes needs to answer some of the questions.

Can't wait for Warne's presser tomorrow.

"We tried all we could but just couldn't quite get a striker over the line. At least Wash is back soon and he's a great lad

  9. With Sheffield Wednesday bidding for a striker I can see them letting Smith go if they are able to get their man. It will probably be a minute before the deadline but that’s what I can see Warne waiting for. It will be utter madness not bringing in a midfielder as well. Hoping Ward and Smith both leave.

  10. Gonna get my crystal ball out here…I think we will eventually get Smith but it may come down to the final minutes of deadline day. Wednesdays mad owner is in Sheffield to discuss with their manager about incomings. Already brought a striker in as well as being linked with a striker from Arsenal who has now moved on. I can see Wednesday signing another attacker and then will let Smith out. Smith wants Derby and player power will come into it eventually.

  11. Apart from the Peterborough wingers who would cost millions for any club, I would say CBT is definitely one of the best wingers in the league. A mate of mine is a season ticket holder at Tranmere so went to a few games with him and you could tell CBT had talent but wasn’t the finished article. Stats wise he is having a quality season and I think he’s the kind of player Warne will get the best out of. Look how NML has been since the first few games and Barkhuzien has really hit form recently.

What I’ve noticed recently in games is how we’ve been decent on the counter attack. For example, Birds run for the Barkhuzien goal against Fleetwood. Another goal on the counter is Barkhuzien’s goal against Leyton Orient. Apart from heading and kicking this league is very much counter attacking and he’s perfect for that. A very very good signing.

  12. January is a tough window to get players  that will strengthen as we did the opposite this time last year. Don’t think there will be any movement until the last week of the window. You can look at the likes of Charlton who are strengthening but look where they are in table. We aren’t in the position to throw money at clubs and players.

My hatred towards Stephen Pearce will never go but David Clowes will know the position we are in with Portsmouth faltering and Peterborough likely to lose a couple of players as well as their captain, patience is needed with signings. Extending Nyambe Cashin and NML’s contracts have been clearly outlined as the first objectives this window.

As for transfer movement..CBT has to be the top target as Warne has identified and described him in so many post match interviews this season, needing more ‘pace’.  I wouldn’t be against Michael Smith on loan as Warne gets the best out of him. A loan player from a PL club would be my guess if we fail signing CBT. A midfielder like Arblaster is exactly who we need as well.

A very small positive is we are being linked/interested in the right players who would strengthen us, the hard part is obviously getting them in. No more Springetts or Harvery Whites. The club HAVE to get the signings right which is the why they are being patient and rightly so.

  13. Not been in the play offs positions so far this season. Yes, it’s still early on the season but there’s been no progression since he came. His interviews gives me the impression that he’s very good at cricket as he loves batting every question away. The sooner the dinosaur is out of the club as well as Pearce then we can move forward.

  14. Have to agree with a lot of comments on here. A victory over Exeter wouldn’t change my mind. Players like Cashin Bird Sibley Hourihane will leave as they won’t want to play for this dinosaur. The interviews he gives are beyond embarrassing as he says the same things ‘well if we scored in the 85th and the 87th then fans would be happy’ but we won’t be now Paul as you’ve sucked everything good out of this club. Attendances will plummet and rightly so. I’m glad the fans expressed how they felt telling Warne how dreadful the football is as it’s been going on for far too long. I don’t agree with arguing with Hourihane but Warne needs to realise how he can’t keep deflecting terrible results. I’m not a fan who cares too much about style of play but the tactic just to cross it is something you’d see on FIFA or football manager. Clowes must sack him now with the costs covered when Cashin leaves in January.

  15. Looking at the comments on Warne’s interview yesterday it’s clear more and more people want him out. With pundits even questioning him now, it wouldn’t surprise me if Warne got the dreaded ‘vote of confidence’ which we all know won’t end well. My ideal replacement would be John Eustace as it looks like Rooney will take over him. John knows the club and has Birmingham playing very well. Worked wonders last season. I’d rather us not go for another dinosaur that has won promotion from this awful league. There’s huge expectations at this club and the results have been poor overall but it seems like Warne is running out of silly answers and is tactically inept. He got it right against Blackpool/P’Boro but got it wrong too many times already this season. To get 2 points from Cambridge/Cheltenham is nothing short of embarrassing.

  16. Was very telling from the guys at BBC Radio Derby on Warne. Normally they are reserved with but with Dominick questioning Warne on being one dimensional and not bringing on an attacking player while Colin and Eric Steele suggesting it’s simple not good enough… they seem fed up as a lot of us do now. Dom’s questions towards Paul were spot on and the overall assessment from the guys was refreshing to hear. Warne couldn’t answer it properly. In terms of tactics, I don’t think I’m the only one who struggles working out what an earth the tactical strategy is. Bird moving from holding to attacking is, not bringing Sibley on, playing out an out of form NML who must be shattered. Only positive is Elder TJJ and Ward will be back with us after the break. It’s too much for Warne to handle. As for the booing, it’s something fans are divided on but we pay good money to watch football and instead I feel like I’m on the verge of keeping my hands up in the air just in case I get hit from the amount of long balls we do.

  17. Going to have to be negative here but I can’t see it being Nyambe who would be a very good signing. Doesn’t fit into Warne’s age group of over 30’s. I’m guessing it will be Fisher or Naughton who are both injury prone players so fits the bill. If it was Nyambe he could play in the right centre back position in a 3 or right back or right wing back and I was impressed with him at Blackburn, seemed to be one of their key players.

  18. I think Warne has got too many things wrong already this season to signify any positives/improvements that could happen. I’ll just list a few problems we’ve faced:

Max Bird in an attacking role- 142 games 3 goals. His creativity abilities forward are weak and the fact he looked better playing further back on the odd occasion shows it was a terrible experiment.

Playing 3 centre midfielders=  A flat midfield is the main reason of our creativity issues so far. If you play so defensively with 3 centre defenders, why do you need 3 central midfielders?

Consistency using 3 at the back: You need 2 of the wider centre backs to be able to carry the ball which we don’t have.

Playing players out of position- Mendez Laing left Sheff W because he didn’t like playing the wing back role.  Elder didn’t have a clue where to position himself yesterday.

Youth players-Nothing to be excited about in terms of players at the moment. Brings in Rooney/Thompson who gave the team energy and a lift. I’m sure he’s reluctant to play youth. D.Brown should be on the bench and at least playing a part. I’d rather see him play than a former Rotherham player run about.

Obsession with set pieces- Yes, we didn’t score from many last season but he goes on about it. There are other ways to score Mr. Warne..how about working on players passing it forward rather than launching it

Tactics/Style: The worst til last….we can’t be hoofing it for the next 39 games otherwise fans will have enough of the terrible style. Attendances will drop and we will be behind the top teams come November.

Couldn’t believe how flat the atmosphere was outside and inside the ground. I don’t know if fans can take another 3 years of this , but I am not for Warne leaving. I am pinning my hopes on Sibley but wouldn’t say No to signing Lyle Taylor.

It’s because there’s nothing to get excited about going to watch games mate. I dread it if I’m being honest because we launch it up to a 5’7 striker who is too small to win anything. We play far too many defensive players which is why we lack creativity. I’d sack him now but I know Clowes won’t. Cambridge would be the game where if we don’t win it, with players coming back to full fitness then I think he’ll go.

  20. Some of the comments on here are spot on. Realised how this forum is much better than some of the nonsense I’ve seen on twitter. Anyway, to put it bluntly I think he should be gone if we’re not in the Top 6 after the tenth game. There’s been no progression for a good while now and I don’t understand why we don’t revert back to 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. Playing this 3 or 5 at the back is shockingly bad and as someone pointed out, it just means crossing it consistency. 4-3-3 with a sitting midfielder Bird/Fornah with 2 centre midfielders in Hourihane and Embleton is the way forward  with pace out wide in Mendez- Laing/Sibley and Barkhuzien with Waghorn up top. He has 2 weeks to get injured players back and change his system with pace out wide. Sick and tired of Korey Smith constantly moaning while pointing the finger at everyone apart from himself but he’ll have to play right back. I’d love to know the reason why he started off Bird who doesn’t score as one of the attackers but get him back in the holding role. A fully fit Embleton in this division is like a cheat code, he’ll be very good for us.

Only excuse for Warne is the amount of players who will be returning soon still gives me hope we will go up but he needs to change his stubborn ways and get back to 4 at the back.

I know that one came out of nowhere! It makes sense due to Warnes good relationship with Klopp though

Yes JCH is serious. Been in contact with Pboro the past 2 weeks. Money wise I don’t know how we’ll be able to afford it unless we use the Knight/ Bielik money which I suspect wasn’t originally meant to be used on transfers but due to injuries and lack of depth etc, it’s now being used. I think he’d take us from a top 6 team to a top 2.

Completely agree with you here BT. Is the JCH talk now coming your original source as you mentioned about someone being in the agency world the other day. Are they both saying about the interest now?
