There'll be lots more slagging Management/Players/Ownership/lack of investment etc. Then if anyone signs they will be "hopeless, useless, too old, too young, he's no good on Football manager " etc.

Unfortunately, that’s the reality of where we are currently. People need to get a sense of proportion and get behind what we have currently. We have a chance of getting promoted and things improving financially but at this critical stage we need to show support, not be so highly critical towards the players, owner and staff.

It is all starting to look a bit bleak, I did say they were looking to get rid of Smith a while back, hopefully he is the one leaving. We need a striker as well as to recall D Brown.

Fair enough. I think you’ve raised some perfectly solid and valid concerns about Warne, I really don’t get the picking apart of every single thing he says though.
He’s shown regularly (as you’ve pointed out) that he speaks without a filter, do you really think he’s made a calculated comment to shift blame away from himself when it comes to transfer dealings? Or could it just be that he says too much and has once again not thought before speaking a little too honestly?

I've heard that Fornah is going to Wycombe on loan, possibly permanent at the end of the season.

There's a difference between 10-20 minutes at the end of games or 1/2 starts over a season versus starting every week.
The likes of John O'Shea and Wes Brown were good squad players for Man Utd, but were only good enough to be regular starters in a side battling relegation.
Fabio Carvalho was playing infrequently for Liverpool last season, now he's on loan at Hull to play regularly. Freddie Ladapo from Ipswich to Charlton...Springett from Norwich to Northampton... the list goes on...
Other Cat 1 teams like Reading are using players in their first team who I wouldn't even put in our U21 side. If I were manager, I absolutely would have used Brown and Robinson a lot more than they have been. Weston would have had a few appearances following on from his good form in the U21s and brief appearance in the first team 9when he grabbed a goal and an assist). I would have given Cox a few outings at the end of games as a LCB in a back 3 - he's much better suited to that role than Cashin who would be better in the middle of a back 3 than on the left. However, I wouldn't expect them to be starting a run of games unless their perfomances when given a shot meritted it.

The U21 squad is deplated due to a couple of bad years in terms of scholar year groups passing through and not making the grade as well as 4 players who would have been good enough being snapped up by PL clubs. The U18s have stepped up early to fill that void. We also had to recruit lower potential players to help boost the numbers - Ridd, Oduroh, Bartley, Jeffcott, Radcliffe, Lindsay, Gibson-Hammond, Nto, Nunn, Weston, Oseni...
In terms of 1st year scholarship groups following on from Cashin, Sibley, etc in 2018, there is only Delap and Bardell who are at our club or a higher level from 2019, Gordon and Williams from 2020. This 2020 groups would ordinarliy be our senior players in the U21 squad now, however the rest of them have been released. From the 2021 group, Ryan moved to Brighton, Eze to Norwich, Ebiowei to Palace, whilst 4 others were released at the end of their scholarships (after 2nd year at U18 level). This is a big reason behind fewer U21 players being ready to step up than we would have liked.
In summary, there are a lot of youngsters coming through, but it's a bit soon for most of them. A few of them are ready for infrequent game time in our first team, but Warne doesn't like taking risks. If they aren't getting game time here, then loans out to clubs where they will play regularly is important.

Funny, you get a load of posts on various threads criticising Warne for not playing academy players and then when people in the know are asked who’s good enough, the answer that we have a few who might be good enough for Non-league, maybe league two or bottom of league one.
I bow to the knowledge of people who see the Academy but doesn’t necessarily sound like there’s a lot coming through who are good enough (assuming of course people consider our 1st team players to be good enough for too if league 1!).  Obviously chucking some of these kids in might be the making of them and we’ll never know if we don’t try them, but I guess Warne is less able to take risks - particularly now we’re in a stone’s throw of automatics (and - as per - making a bit of a pigs ear about it).

Is the bigger question why we don’t seem to have the kids coming through at the moment, or is the obvious answer administration and bigger clubs coming in a nicking all the talent.

DRobinson's the only player who I think is ready for regular football at this level (lower end L1 level). I would trust his ability to play (and start) the odd game for us at this end of the table. He isn't yet ready for several starts. However, infrequent appearances throughtout the rest of the season would be enough to earn him a loan move for next season. He needs to improve his end product, but otherwise he's another safe and reliable player on the ball.
DBrown is next in the pecking order. He too would be good enough for seeing games out and the rare start. His level (in my opinion) is L2. However, the benefit of a National League loan is our ability to recall him in an emergency whilst a L2 loan would be fixed until the season has ended. The exposure to men's football will be a big boost from him, as I think it could be the difference between him mentally beign ready to play regularly for us next season.
Radcliffe and Weston have shown at other clubs that they are capable at handling themselves in men's football. Radcliffe played in the National League North last season, so a step up this season would have been a fair assupmption - he's been injured since October. Weston played infrequiently in the Scottish Championship last season for Partick and Cove Rangers. He's National League North or even National League level.
Oduroh, who spent the first half of this season in and out of a National League side, is a bit behind Weston.

I don’t know. Warne probably doesn’t either as he barely gave any of our academy lads a chance in the EFL Trophy. A big opportunity missed to check if these players are ready in a non pressure situation.

Now that it’s becoming apparent that there isn’t as much in the transfer kitty as we’d all hoped, it asks the question whether we have anyone in our Academy at the moment who could make the step up to the First Team?
Is Tony Weston or Dajaune Brown the out-and-out Number 9 we so desperately need? Granted Brown’s been loaned to Gateshead but we do have the option to recall him after 28 days.
Would Adebayo Fapetu be that Ball-Winning Midfielder that we hoped Fornah would be? Dare I also mention that we also have a certain Bradley Johnson as an overage Academy Player who could do that role…
Are Carlos Richards or Ben Radcliffe an option out wide or are they either not ready or not good enough?
Personally, I would much rather us take a chance on our Academy Lads that have another over 30’s lunk on a bloated salary with little or no resale value. We need players at this stage of the season who are hungry and want to fight for the shirt which seems to be missing at the moment.
For me that would be Weston & Fapetu both of which have looked good in cup games, definitely worth a gamble if we can’t get the players we want.

Agree 100% with @iRam that Warne, or any of the players do not deserve abuse.
I think for any manager, the key thing is to try and make a team better than the sum parts - simple as.
Is Warne achieving that? In my opinion no.....but I hope he does achieve that.
If you are not making the team better than the sum parts then other aspects come into it, like ......Are you winning games? (We are) Are you playing an entertaining form of football? (In my opinion, we're not) and Where are you in the league? (In my opinion, doing OK but not great bearing in mind the squad).
So, when we lose a game against lesser teams, playing unattractive football and our league position suffers, it's no surprise that criticism comes in.
But.....Having listened to the BBC podcast with Warne and Karl Robinson and heard the latter's abuse/bullying of players, and having seen Deeney binned for slagging off players in public....after a 4 game ban for abusing officials, I'm pleased we've got a decent bloke in charge.

To answer the OP, no he doesn’t deserve the vitriol, although I suspect there’s more of that on Twitter.  There is the odd comment about PE teacher, etc on here and I do think that’s uncalled for.  Does he deserve criticism, yes if performances and results don’t go to plan.  Preferably constructive rather than a one-liner with no substance.
Now we’ve lost a game, we’re again seeing the odd comment about his why wall, good people, etc.  Again, I think it’s uncalled for.  I’ve done leadership training led by a lot of sports people and tools and techniques such as why walls, belief walls, etc are common in sport.  Most sports, individual and team use these provide purpose, confidence, etc.  And as for good people, I watched an interview with Thomas Frank on Sky and he was asked what he looked for and first of all it’s good people.  Gary Rowett has a podcast  and he discussed the transfer window.  Again, he came back to good characters and people.  If it’s a weakness, Warne is probably too honest in actually talking about these in a way other managers don’t so it be ones a stick to beat him with.
Most posters are balanced but occasionally it goes over the top.  As someone said to me a few years ago, don’t go overboard with the highs and don’t get too down about the lows.

    Absolutely not.
We are a top six side with a fighting chance of automatic promotion. While that is still possible, we should get behind the manager and the team.
We always knew we would probably have to finish above at least two of Bolton, Barnsley and Peterborough to get promoted this season and as the season has progressed, that is still the measure and still the challenge.
However it was never going to be easy or straightforward. Teams rarely stand still. Bolton look solid and efficient as ever. Peterborough are arguably better than last season. Barnsley are starting to collect themselves again as they did in the second half of last season. Add Portsmouth and Oxford who were the fast starters and are still in the mix and that adds another layer of difficulty.
I think we have seen some good and some bad when it comes to Warne and the team.  Games where it clicks and we look good and games where it doesn’t. We have seen a mixture of each within one half and within one game too. This is typical of all teams at this level, no matter the style of play or the philosophy.
Peterborough - arguably the best footballing side in the league - have dropped points in 11 games, only one fewer than us. If they win their game in hand, they will have won one more than us, only one greater than us.
So as much as people want to talk about style and talk down the manager and his supposed lack of tactics and suggest his philosophy is uncultured and unrefined, there is nothing to say a different manager with a different philosophy would be far more effective.

I must be a bit odd (according to some views on here )
I actually like his summaries post match. Honest realistic, doesn’t want to slag players but will always drop a hint tempered by recognising players are human. As to results, we aren’t running away with as some think we should but we are at it and serious challengers. Then you get to style of play. Sometimes quite dynamic, sometimes a bit predictable. We don’t have a midfield balance or a general. That said, the hit it wide is because that is where our line breakers are strongest. If Wash and/or Waggy were fit we could well see more from the middle or the channels.
another poster suggested we only had good results because we have batter players. I disagree. Some of our players have elevated natural skills that come out on the best of days but the rest of the time misplace passes, fail to control like so many others. Those leading lights have all passed their peaks and face a match by match battle against younger legs on average. I like Warne. Can’t stand the vitriol, don’t think he’s a genius but he’s a good manager. Derby need a hot shot in the front line and a dominating midfielder. We aren’t failing or playing bad stuff because of Warne. I reckon he’s doing a good job with what he’s got.

Awful performance. No sense of responsibility from many members of the team. Simple short passes, not sprinting, lazy offsides, tame tackling. In short, a team devoid of ambition. Warne needs to have a serious chat with them.
Mendez-Laing papered over the cracks for a while but his dip in form has left us without drive or inspiration. Collins is back chasing shadows.
Bird, Hourihane, Thompson and Sibley all tried in midfield and none of them deserved a 6/10.
No need for panic, but we need to get back to neat passing.

As a few have said, we need to make sure we dont expect too much too soon from him.
One thing fans & journos have said is when at Charlton, teams used to have to double up on him. Currently they try to do that to NML, so with CBT in the team they wont be able to double up on both of them meaning 1 will be in space to cause some damage....or if they do, that will create alot of space for others....so this may mean he doesnt have the impact we may think he will in goals & assists but may play a part in an increase from other areas.
