Imagine if we sell all our best youngsters, sign a bunch of 30+ year olds with no resale value, flop, then we would be in proper poo Street 🤣 you gotta laugh.

This is the problem. We did OK against Burton but it was more of them being rubbish rather than us being exceptional. We don't seem to be fluid or have a style other than the rigid system we play atm

That should be I was a Warne fan, I'm thinking he's now out his depth. I don't care how many times we hear "it's football, we will lose games"

It wasn't just mcgoldrick though.. it was Hourihane, NML, Smith, Barks, all players that had genuine class.. I just don't understand how we managed to get them last year on no budget.. yet these types of players have somehow disappeared even though now we have money on the table..  I think it's more down to the top players not being convinced by Wayne's "be my buddy and go home" mentality. Even our loans last year were better!

You could see Oxford knew exactly what we were going to do from the 1st minute. They doubled up on our RWB and put 2 or 3 players between the cross and the goal to block it. After that our entire game plan disappeared, that's all they had to do.

Exactly..  but the problem is, Warne has gone all out to try and force us to play the system he likes, unfortunately for him, we aren't Rotherham and it just doesn't cut it. We should of signed a proven target man/striker and built around that. Right now, we are literally relying on out RWB to provide our only service, it gets predictable, even in league 1.

Exactly. And I said this in relation to Warne and his credentials. He seems like a lovely fella outside of football, but apart from players he already knows or has some kind of connection with via someone else (Collins), how many players can Warne attract out of this bracket? So far, not anything that is an improvement on what we have imo.

but so many of us could see it. SK 47 is right, why sign both waghorn and washignton? loads of people were saying it at the time

Exactly. Warne can say "I don't really have to sell the club to players.. it sells itself..  but if I don't think the player will be my mate, I don't want to sign him" 
He used to make tongue in cheek comments about DM after he scored, along the lines of, "Yeah he did well but I don't like to tell him that" - why not? Jokes or not, I just feel like Warne doesn't like the individually brilliant players and just likes 11 mercenaries.

Either way nobody wants to sign for a pub team manager with a pub team coaching staff. No reputation in the game, non of them played at a decent level & other than having some success playing kick it long at Rotherham they have no reputation or respect in the game. Get them all gone & start again

Didzy, Hourihane and Roberts were all signed by Rosenior. The club had nothing to do with it.
Why would any potential signings choose us over another club when we play such horrible football? 

the warning signs were there all summer for everyone to see, we never replaced mcgoldrick and there is a fat chance we are spreading his goals around the team because nobody else can score either just like last season
 
 

Haven't had a string of foreign  players since Burely and growing up, apart from the 96/97 team, it was my favourite derby team. Rasiak and Idiakez in particular were absolute class 👌
Idiakez was that class, I can even remember the boots he used to wear, White Joma's lol 

Our problem is we are trying to get NML closer to Collins to do the things he can't do, ie getting beyond defenders. We just need a direct striker and a combative tall CDM and it will give us a proper spine because we're lacking genuine prowess in the middle of the park and someone to either play off or stretch the defence, at the moment, even though we're winning, that's where we are coming unstuck imo

If I see another striker with a blue badge and a bus pass I'm gonna fall over.
 
We don't need another work horse or slug, we either need mobility and pace or an out and out target man that actually holds up the play, wins headers and someone our 10s can get beyond. So far we have neither, but we have those that are a jack of all trades, master of none.
