San Fran Van Rams got a reaction from JustOneBiblicalKazim in v Huddersfield (H) Match Thread
Good to get a point today given the turbulence over pre season. Was impressed by Roos, Bird, Shinnie and Forsyth today, and Sibley changed the game when he came on with his forward runs and confidence. Pretty sure Sibley had half our total shot count. Shinnie won the ball well, Bird played fairly positively and recycled the ball well and Forsyth's crosses we're quite dangerous. Roos looked composed, great shot stopping and sucked up pressure with his catching.
Davis and Stearman looked ok together but there were a couple of nervy moments. Defending set pieces and the odd down the channel balls causing issues. Not sure how much of that comes down to Roos, but as experienced CBs I want them to step up.
Typical CKR performance. We need an alternative though as he won't be able to do that all season. Lawrence and Watson put themselves around but didn't create enough for me and Byrne was up and down that right side but again didn't really do anything of note.
As others have said, with the ball at his feet, Joz looks great but end product just doesn't seem to be there. No killer instinct today and multiple shooting or final ball opps were not taken/wasted. Not sure whether he needs more time off or more freedom in a Derby shirt but he needs to show a lot more.
Didn't think Ebosele or Hutchinson did much when they came on but glad they got minutes.
Add some creativity from Morrison, give Sibley more time and get Bielik back and we're not half bad.

San Fran Van Rams got a reaction from LeedsRam1999 in Ravel Morrison - signed 1 year deal
It's all still subject to international clearance so even if he had signed yesterday, its unlikely that'd have come through in time anyway.
Welcome Ravel!! Let's see what all this hype is about. Excited to see him in a Derby shirt.

Whether or not Ravs had agreed terms yesterday after we had got the all clear to offer a contract, hes still subject to international clearance so wouldn't have been able to play today anyway.

Funny cus I thought a forum was for voicing opinions and discussing related topics. Not everyone on here has coaching badges, yet here we are discussing starting line ups and tactics. Plus you don't even know what knowledge and experience people are speaking from. Give it a rest.

I don't think we did do that. I thought that was a misunderstanding the EFL had and that we actually accounted for players having a residual value of 0 at the end of their contracts. It was just the non straight line depreciation which was found in non compliance?

Let me try this again, I was forwarded your post and just online replying to say thanks, and I appreciate the concern. Posted and the topic was merged and my post lost as I submitted it. Cheers mods.
I have an apology and what exactly has happened post which will follow the report from the meeting, I don't not can't want to go into detail now.
What I would say is, this is not the clubs fault, anyone using it as a stick to beat the club with are doing so without the full facts, which is unfair and not helping myself personally as I try to fix the situation and get the information out to you.
I, David, has handled the situation poorly, been naive and been busy working my hardest to get back to you all with what you want.I would like to think that over the years we have built up some mutual respect, if you don't want to believe me that's fine, but please just stop until you have read what I put out.
You must also all understand that the club staff are ridiculously busy right now working long hours on other important issues, whilst I feel somewhat in limbo, I'm more happy that we have an extra 2 defenders in the squad than missing out as they need to read through my emails.
As for tomorrow, I am excited more than you will ever know, football is back, Derby are back, fans in the stadium, perfect.
I'm just gutted I can't be there, but I'm doing the next best thing, taking a flight out of here so I can watch on RamsTV with a. few beers that are chilling in the fridge.
Those that are going, regardless of your thoughts on the ownership, club, put all that to one side and get behind the team, we have a young team that doesn't deserve to play under a negative atmosphere.
Drop any protests, Mel chants, anti EFL or anti and sarcastic Rooney chants, focus on positive support for the team, this is when they need us the most, the atmosphere is all on us nobody else, if we crush those lads with booing and all that baalocks, we will have to shoulder some of the responsibility.
I'm sorry for the lack of communication, I just didn't have anything to add and felt it would be best to stay offline. But please, regardless of what you think of me, the club, just read the above and take it from a fan that loves this club and wouldn't be saying any of this if I didn't mean it.

no they were carrying an estimated value at year 4 but wrote the rest off in year 5 down to zero

We were doing things like £50k for 4 years, then £800k in year 5. With the exact amounts depending on the player (age, usage, form, injuries etc). But they always ended up at £0 when they left.

do the job responsibly or resign, it is really simple

Interesting - I watched that but don't recall that point, although it's undoubtedly true for them.
Ironically, I'm working in a private equity backed venture now and my job (CRO) is to do just that. Let's see if I last till Christmas..... ?
But seriously, the point is not to avoid taking any risk, but to be aware of the possibility. So you get "no regrets" decision making. From the snippets of the meeting reported so far, it sounded like Mel was full of regrets.

Bizarre isn't it?
In my business life I'd be looking for a risk and compliance director now, and previously probably the chief operating officer to design the control framework.
For a 30m + turnover business worth a couple of hundred k investment. We had a COO who seemed to be responsible for papering the players contracts and nothing much else.... ?

My takeaway is the apparent lack of a rudimentary control framework at the club.
Where were the budgets for playing staff?
How much challenge and scrutiny did the amortisation method actually get? Any consultant opinion would usually include a benchmark analysis against the market so that you can see if you are an outlier and hence more likely to be challenged.
Most recently the seeming lack of control design around messaging and communication. Looks like it is made up on the hoof.
