It's just not even comparable to the signings we were making a few years ago.
Under Mel we payed extortionate transfer fees for over the hill players with no re-sale value on long term contracts and massive wages.
We are in league one and we've just signed a good player on a free transfer, two year deal and minimal wages. Hourihane is a good character and has never let anyone down. We fought off championship interest to get him. It's not even close to being the same thing. Some fans need to wind their neck in.

Yes but are we REALLY?! Because signing all these players on top of the 6 experienced pros and kids from the academy seems like maybe Mel Morris is wearing a David Clowes mask and continuing his reckless behaviour and therefore we must be spending way above our means as there’s no other possible explanation for these players joining the club.

Edit - I am only joking.

You do know we are still under a strict business plan don't you?, so how can we offer more money than Boro???.
Have a day off will ya.

We clearly are working to an agreed plan (aren’t all transfers subject to EFL consent?). Maybe Boro just didn’t offer enough but I agree with others posters and reasons he may prefer Derby is because of location and likely playing time. I really think you’re worrying unnecessary and looking for issues that aren’t there. If you’re looking for clarity on how much Derby and Boro offered then I’m afraid you’re going to be disappointed.

Give it a rest. We can't offer stupid wages or long contracts. You know this.
It will be because he is local and doesn't want to move. Especially to a sh*t hole in the arse end of nowhere.  And the fact he is guaranteed playing time.

Correct, I assume it's because of the clubs recent change in status, access to credit, that sort of thing. Hopefully resolved soon but probably will have a small impact on sales.

I agree that so far Ryan's bits have been excellent.
At the time of appointment I believe Cocu was the best name available, so i was happy that we got him. However, i never really took to his style and obviously this was compounded in his second season where we looked terrible. It' sad that a genuine nice guy hasn't been able to lead us to glory but that's how it goes i guess.
Very much looking forward to Ryan's next article.

Gonna give these their own thread because Ryan Conway has written some great articles so far Including this one.
I think sums up everything id like to say about Cocu’s reign but with some really interesting bits of info. I liked Cocu a lot and I’m very much in the camp that he was the right man at the wrong time, it’s a shame it all started to come together just as the world shut down.
Anyway, keep up the good work Ryan!

Also - their entire grievance is linked to the timings of punishments, which were in the hands of the EFL, not us. The damage was done because they never submitted that argument to be tested in court, which muddied the water for our administration and potential liabilities. Now that we’re out of administration, they can either file papers or not - knowing that we can do what an ownerless club couldn’t do, and that is defend ourselves. Just feels like he’s playing to his audience of WW supporters and desperately trying to seem relevant.

It's the same as too many youngsters at Derby, including Gordon and Delap over the last couple of years.
The difference between Derby going into administration and not Birmingham is that they had a loyal youngster called Jude Bellingham who waited until his 17th birthday, signed a contract with Blues, so they could sell him next day for £25M. In recognition of his loyalty Blues have 'retired' his shirt number.

Poor show from the lad really, after the Joiners Arms incident where the club kept his involvement under the radar, gave him his opportunity and this is how he repays the club.
I have no issue with him wanting to leave, anyone that isn't committed to the cause is can go, but go about it the right way.
I'm sure this was his agents idea, but the lad should no right from wrong, this is clearly wrong.
Silence from the club on this departure tells us they are not accepting this.

We are not the only club to go into administration, just currently the last of many.  Ipswich went into administration in 2003 owing £35million after redeveloping their ground, they ended up coming out paying some as little as 5p in the pound.
There will be more clubs to come and the fact it is says something has to change.

I’ve only really read a few of his comments today but wow, he’s obsessed with us. Comes across as a crazed stalker or spurned lover who’s partner left him for a Derby fan.
As someone that rarely ventures onto other teams forums, how someone could spend so much of their life, rambling on about a team they don’t support baffles me. Bristol city are hardly a rival either.
Can’t some other clubs fans accept we’ve been punished for years as fans, through embargo after embargo, it’s hardly the fault of fans what Mel spent, he’s history we have to live with, as he nearly wiped us out, let alone presided over our demise to league 1.
What a saddo he must be, stalking our every financial move. Most Derby fans just want to watch football matches, I really couldn’t give a monkeys about Bristol city nor their balance sheet.
