Daughters wedding on Thursday at the villa Levens near Kendal. Absolutely fabulous day. A very proud dad. Son in law a Man Utd fan. So of course I had to mention the mighty rams beating united last season in my speech.?

Sort of. My sister is getting wed next Monday so just making sure I squeeze into my suit. Don't tell the veggies but I sneaked some smoked bacon into that too. 

Guacaroni, inspired by the veggie book Bosh recommended by @BathRam72. Have to say it's far tastier than it looks. 

I worked a season at the Island Hotel on Tresco which I believe has been knocked down now.
I'm not sure if I've ever been anywhere as nice as the Scillies.

I’ve only really explored the old port (which is most people’s impression of Marseille) and I quite like it. It’s a lively place with plenty going on, and the port area itself couldn’t really be described as a poohole. think I actually walked past the hotel that the Napoli players are staying at before tomorrow’s game.
I also went a bit further on past the port to look at the beach area. There’s very little beach but plenty of rocky bits to walk around (I took my photo here) and a few bars. The sea is a lovely colour.
The digs I’m staying at are a bit rough around the edges and they’re in the middle of some narrow, quite smelly streets (probably to do with bins in the heat), but I feel quite safe. There’s a big Asian (perhaps Pakistani or Kurdish?) community here and it’s got quite an interesting vibe.
From what I’ve heard, the more dangerous parts are a bit further north.
Oh, and it’s bloody boiling.

22 at the moment, 6.00pm. Sitting here with the heater on sweating ?, but then I’m half cut from a big session.

Nice winter dinner, steak and Guinness stew served in our best Royal Derby bowls. Not bad since I’ve been drinking G&T’s all arvo.

There's a plane crash and a man gets washed up ashore on a remote island in the pacific the only other person that makes it is no other that Kylie Minogue .Well this guy can't believe his luck ,they learn to survive and get on together and in due course become an item .
After a while they are sitting there discussing their predicament" are you happy " ? she asks .
"What man wouldn't be happy stranded on a desert island with you  but I miss my mates and lads banter" he replies.
Kylie trying to be helpful says "look this island is only 6 miles round I'll dress up in your clothes and start walking one way round ,you go the other way and when we meet you can pretend I'm a mate and tell me what you want".
So they set off in opposite directions ,after a couple of hours he see's her in the distance ,as they get closer he starts to walk faster and then breaks into a run .
He runs up to her and yells " hey mate guess who I'm shagging:

He's overnight at the vets. Just spoken to them and he's breathing through his tracheotomy OK, and he's even stood up a bit. They've given him a huge dose of steroids (her words) to hopefully bring the swelling in his throat down. Next 24 hours will tell. Off to bed, clinging to hope.

Sorry to pull you up on this, but there is no age restriction on being human and having emotions. I'd be more embarrassed/ashamed for not having an emotional reaction to family issues. You've quite concisely stated how much and why your dog is very important to you, and how he represents a link to something (a time) and someone (a person) that you don't want to forget.
Never be apologetic for being true to your feelings. That said, I do hope your fear turns out to be unwarranted x
