Do we appear to be in more of a mess after this program, about the same or do we now have a better understanding what is going on without being in more of a mess. What will EFL think of this. Who knows.

The P&S position is going to be affected by how much capital Mel injected. If he's put an additional £8m per season in on top of the loans, we can lose a rolling average of £13m. If he hasn't we could be down as low as £5m allowable loss.
That's where it could get sticky. That audio is going to be used as proof of a deliberate attempt to act outside the spirit of the rules and will thus trigger the the extra points deduction for aggravating factors if we're even a million over the limit.
Hopefully, Mel is far too cute to get caught out like that, but I'd be a lot happier if the accounts had been published.

I've just listened to a bit of the advanced audio. I thought it was interesting that clearly A) he appeared desperate to sell given they contacted the 'interested party' even after he pulled out but b) is it just me who thought the asking price was a tad high? 100 million quid including the stadium for a second division club?  I might have heard it wrong as was doing some writing as listening but maybe this is why we haven't had serious buyers as of yet because he's sticking by a high valuation for a club that's in the toilet.
I'm not a financial expert of any kind either but the part about Mel wanting loans being paid back over a long period of time rather than in one go, doesn't that contradict previous interviews where he's stated the money he's sunk in he's never getting back? Or is he simply discussing writing them off over time as opposed to one go?

This is going to go down well as we attempt to “build bridges” with the EFL.

Yes I am, but, we are circumventing the FFP again when is he going to learn?
Also which investor is going to buy a football club without placing into writing that Mel is going to be responsible for the debt which he is suggesting.  That's like me selling you a car that's not HPI clear and saying don't worry mate, I will keep paying the loan....  Would you buy the car?
I think we know full well why investors keep pulling out of deals now!

Even the most junior lawyer on the purchasing side would put that in the SPA

The whole "this can't be put in writing" bit regarding Morris writing off loans doesn't sound too good in isolation.
I would imagine that anybody willing to do a deal of that size would probably want some kind of written guarantee that they wouldn't be stuck with £140m worth of debt.

I know he's not popular, but Keiran M's comment was "what Morris was proposing doesn't break the letter of the law (in terms of EFL regs), but it is clearly not in the spirit"
Seems things got as far as an initial meeting brokered by the middelman, who presented Mel with a potential buyer and that included discussions on structuring a deal the benefits club in FFP matters to the best effect. It's perhaps sitting in a grey area, but is also Mel not going "ta taaa I'm offski it's your problem now"
Just going to listen to part 2 now.

Investors are not purchasers, for your further information they are investors, also any SPA would have a clause that the club was debt free at the point of signing that SPA.
Selling the club does not circumvent FFP, in fact if it was sold debt free that would render FFP non applicable.
Your faux outrage at everything to do with the club is very boring.

For those who don't have Sky or don't live in the UK, it looks like you can watch Al Jazeera live for free on their website and on Youtube. Not sure if it will cut out in time for the documentary.

Do we know if David sent his draft to Derby out of courtesy before publishing (to maintain a good relationship), or was it more of a legal obligation? Seems odd that Punjabi Rams were free to tweet their own words hours after the meeting ended, yet David still can't post his notes. If Derby are the ones holding this up, I'd be tempted to just post! (if that's even an option)
