Remember that one.  Might have got two free kicks that day.  Second was a beauty.  Not seen any other Derby player get a free kick in from that angle.  Before him we had Idiakez who was worth 10 goals  a year from worldy free kicks alone.  Don't know what you've got till it's gone ?  Another 12 years till we got Wilson on loan.  Not as good as Idiakez though for me.

    Was 1 nil

We ended up signing him in 2016, apparently he was a Wednesday fan, he was tripe.

Most consistent free taker I've seen for us was Hinchcliffe

Think you mean Jones.  Thought he was decent for the price.  Got promoted With Wolves who we sold him too, then had about 7 years in the prem with Burnley?.  We sold him then spent the money on Ellingtons loan fee.  Mears was decent as well.  Till he nicked his boots and fecked off.  The rest, including those he spent 10 million on in the pre prem summer were absolute crap apart from maybe Earnshaw. Never really got to see a lot of him to judge despite the fact we had the turning circle of the Titanic at both ends.

Jones scored a winner late on at yours from a wide free kick v us the season you went up

Supporting this club  you realise net spend can get you point's deducted.  Gross wages will send you to the administrator.  They have a wage bill over the last couple of years that will give them a serious headache if they don't go up.

Mate you're preaching to the converted. Post prem we didn't have a pot to piss in, when we finally do get a wealthy owner the efl adopt some rules that aren't fit for purpose.

Clubs with failure pennies from the PL can splash the cash and clubs could either have a go themselves or let the pl be almost a closed shop with the same sort of clubs swapping leagues every year.

Over 3 million last season and brought in players like Aluko, Carroll and Piggott all who had championship interest on frees.  Loans from QPR, Boro and Brighton for players with first team games in the mid 20's.  Not the kids with potential you normally get in this league.

Over 2 million this summer, plus Luongo, Ladapo, Ball, Keogh on frees but as championship players good salary I'd wager.  Another 1.5 today and 2 mil more expected.

I'd say that's fairly heavy and wage wise very heavy as they regularly bring in more than those listed. Probably not on similar salary granted Sure they've had other players like Will Keane drop from the championship to join them as well but they have since been binned off.

Their net spend was 300k or so last season.

Their increased income has helped fund this seasons outlay.

  5. The stand should have gone in 89 but the FA refused to pay for it as they would be seen as taking the blame, remember the ground was basically hired to them for the game.

The stand was 66% capacity on both tiers so not a chance of overcrowding, the issue was idiots blocking the entrance.

The stadium is dated but the concourse is less of an issue than say at QPR. The corner end of your place gets a tad snug I'd full on the concourse.

Partially on the wind-up - I wasn’t actually given a name, just that we’re working on signing a striker. Lee Gregory fits the description given, so thought I’d see the reactions ?

If he signs, I’m still claiming ITK though! Even if it was mainly guesswork…

More chance of signing Gregory Peck

Arguably our two best players so far, NML and Wildsmith, couldn't regularly get into a L1 Sheff Wednesday team last season. It's all about fit and a manager trusting them and making them feel like they are wanted.

Joe is a very very good keeper and was unfortunate to have Keiren Westwood ahead of him when he broke through,  he was trusted in cup games or if KW was absent, his form earned him a u21 call up.

He sadly suffered a bad injury which set him back and did his confidence.

He was kept last season ahead of Dawson who we loaned to Exeter but for reasons known to Darren Moore alone he brought Bailey Peacock Farrell in on loan.

I'm absolutely delighted Joe is thriving, I watched him in a youth cup game years back and rated him.

To be fair, he had hardly played any football in the 18 months before joining you, but still had 1 goal contribution every 217 minutes.
Now he's had a consistent run of football, he's at 1 every 155 minutes... his best since playing for Rochdale in the 16/17 season (1 per 135 minutes)

    True.

He doesn’t need to score, just beat the fullback, cross it into the box for McGoldrick or Osula to score, surely that would get a round of applause from your fans.?

    McGoldrick is ex Wednesday.

Yeah like Wildsmiths not a good keeper.

To be fair I have always and still do rate Wildsmith.

Just based on NML time at ours, could be very wasteful in front of goal. All that pace and lacks the end product too often.
