LeedsCityRam got a reaction from Indyram in Sibley gone
Always suspected this was going to be the final outcome when he didn't sign a new deal immediately post-season.
First & foremost, really sorry to see him go - never nice to lose a lad from the Academy & especially one who clearly loves the club. It's ironic that he has decided to leave after finally finding a regular role in the team for the first time since his emergence in summer 2020. Its also the position I believe suits him the best despite us all hoping that he'd emerge into the first choice attacking midfielder/number 10 role he played in the Academy. The reality is his first touch, lack of pace & limited physicality have restricted his opportunities there & it's been a pattern played out with a few managers now. At LWB those deficiencies were masked much better & his stamina & undoubted quality shone through - its a shame either he or Warne didn't see him as a Championship starter in that position as I thought he'd kick on this season.
I wish him all the very best going forward - once a Ram always a Ram Louie 🐏

LeedsCityRam got a reaction from Miggins in David Clowes
David Clowes is the owner I always hoped we'd end up getting one day.
A lot of fans seem utterly fixated on the respective spending power of owners but unless you have materially more wealth than all of your competitors (extremely rare), the differentiator becomes how you manage your club. What culture are you looking for? Do you back your managers when things get tough? Do you have a long term plan? Quite apart from the extraordinary sacrifice David Clowes undertook in grossly overpaying for Derby County, everything since has been an exercise in how to run a club properly. He is an elite level owner & best of all, he cares - he's one of us.
Its no secret I'm a Warne-sceptic but I had to admire Clowes sticking by Warne during his decidedly dodgy autumn. Sitting outside the playoff spots as late as 24th November would have had many chairmen pulling the trigger but there was absolutely no sense Warne was even on his final warning - he was given time & Clowes was utterly vindicated by the subsequent promotion. That is the kind of responsible stewardship successful clubs need & that we have so often lacked in the past.
Tales of his humility elsewhere in this thread endear him even more, as does that open letter on the official site today. A successful businessman, a qualified pilot & now a successful football club owner - that is a bloody rare skillset & all credit to him that he lets his actions do the talking rather than resorting to the egocentric approach of many of his peers. I'm genuinely excited to see how he approaches the challenge of competing with clubs with bigger budgets & more reckless strategies - I strongly suspect this is where the backroom structure he brought in 2 years ago starts to bear fruit - quality recruitment, quality youth progression & a tight, respectful culture that gets the best out of everyone in the building. Progressive ownership is the only sensible game in that snakepit of a division & Clowes is smart enough to realise this.
Most of all, I hope he's enjoying it. I loved seeing him get the limelight on Saturday - the fans singing his name & him picking up the trophy - he deserves every accolade going. I hope David Clowes stays with us for many years, I'm certain he will steer us back to the Prem if he does.

I'm really disappointed with this due to a number of factors, but I always felt for him to get to where he needs to be then it would have to be away from Derby. I suspect he will have a good move lined up somewhere.
Genuinely one of the very best players I have seen (not just for us) at a Premier League academy. How it's got to this point genuinely baffles me.

Bit sad about this one, as I was with Bird. The romantic/football manager nerd in me loves the idea of a Derby side filled with homegrown talent. Not to say we won’t ever see that but a number of those most recently able to play first team football for the club are gone, for me it’s the legacy of admin and what could have been.
Wish him all the best in his career and look forward to how the team progresses with new faces. Wonder if we’ll get an exit interview from him?

LeedsCityRam reacted to Ambitious in David Clowes
My takeaway is that he’s excited about the budget for the season, obviously without giving too much away but there was a very wary, self-confidence to his answer and that funds coming into the club via TV and other sources could really give us an opportunity.
I love to hear that he’s very pro-overseas scouting and that the data we’re looking at on players is substantial. It sounds very, very much like what I really wanted from the new-age Derby County. The proof will obviously be in the pudding but the confidence and excitement within his demeanour was very palpable to me.

None of us should be in any doubt now - No Clowes= No DCFC . Buying the ground for £25 mill was a sound business purchase , with a rent of £1 mill a year coming in . But the price for DCFC of £25 mill looked cheap to us fans . But remember not another soul was prepared to pay that price .

LeedsCityRam got a reaction from Zag zig in A good Championship budget?
Its a little unfortunate/mischevious that the snippet BBC Derby have gone with is Clowes talking about us 'aiming for first place'. I mean of course we're going to try & finish as high as possible but anyone expecting a top 6 spot is going to be seriously disappointed. It would also be unreasonable to place that expectation on the club or Warne.
I take a 'good Championship budget' to mean we have the finances to finish comfortably midtable & establish ourselves in this division. That is a sensible expectation for this season given that we're having to rebuild the squad with younger/better players rather than tweaking an already strong squad (i.e. not like Ipswich last year) & I would take that to mean anywhere from 10th to 18th with no flirtations with relegation. Its probably also a public airing of the conversations he's had internally with Warne - i.e. the club is not anticipating a bottom 6 struggle. The assumption therefore is if Warne is starting to deliver the same outcomes he's had with Rotherham, he'll be replaced.

LeedsCityRam reacted to Ramarena in Kayden Jackson - signed on a 2 year deal
I get the feeling PW is bringing this lad in to do a specific job and utilise his talents in those areas.
Sounds like most Ipswich fans rate him fairly highly, despite them not seeing him as the most technically gifted player.
We’ve got to remember we’ve lost a fair chunk of our squad and have 9 places on the bench to fill irrespective of injuries.
This guy fits the bill for me, is he a sensational signing that gets the heart racing……….no
Will he be a solid contributor for a couple of seasons………yes I think he will!

LeedsCityRam reacted to Day in A good Championship budget?
I have to defend BBC Derby slightly, prior to saying aiming for the top he does say he wouldn’t like to say where we will finish. They didn’t even mention it in the post to lure you into watching, it was a line pulled out to start the topic on here with, which you could argue could be seen as potentially more mischievous.
Most appear to have understood the context of his words though and I don’t see many going into the season expecting to be challenging for the title.
