Watford go for Zola.

Apparently the Ponzo family have confirmed their takeover. Watford set to be a feeder club for Udinese. Desite Dyche doing well last season. looks like Zola will be moving in. Can see Dyche going and joining Cardiff alongside Malky if he is booted out. Where does this leave us. Last season Metgod described us as a bottom 6 budget club or something like that. Donny and Cov and probably bankrupt Pompey would have all fallen into the same bracket budget wise probably. They havr been replaced by three clubs with Cash to spend. Huddersfield and Wednesday have already been making signings. Charlton are rumoured to be after Shackell so obviously have owners who are willing to show more ambition than ours. Assuming Forest get bankrolled by that Kuwaiti bloke. Who is left at the bottom of the pile ready to trade in our key player !

Apart from us maybe Barnsley and Peterboro and maybe Palace and Millwall.

Think Watford could be the Dark horse this season

I don't, in fact I think it'll be spectacularly bad! Sean Dyche was perfect for them, brilliant manager whereas zola is a figure head and joining a family that don't come over with the best reputation.

Very harsh on Dyche and his backroom team.

I hope they get fixed up sharpish and fancy Dyche will eventually go on to manage one of the less fashionable premier league clubs.

Not sure I'm so confident Zola will do the same.

Even though Dyche talks with a permanent frog-in-his throat and has a radioactive goatie, I still feel a lot of sympathy for him over this scenario.

He did a decent job last season and deserved better. No doubt he'll go to a lower league club and do well there.

Still, Zola is from all accounts a very nice chap, so I wish him the best of the luck in his new role.

He did quite a good job there bringing youngsters into the team and with no money in one season. In sure he will get another job. Didn't watford go the Italian way before with no success

Didn't Vialli and Wilkins have a few weeks in charge a few seasons ago ? Feel quite sorry for Dyche, but that's the nature of the beast now, look at Houghton at Newcastle, never did anything wrong there and found himself out on his ear.

Hope Dyche get's another crack at management somewhere soon.

Quote from stimacked "Watford look set to befeeder club to udinese" are you being serious what players do Watford have that regular champions league team udinese want. Answers on a postcard please. Surely Watford will be offered all udinese surplus players and youngsters as I believe they can't play professionally in italy til they are 18 I think so all in all don't think they will do to badly out of it

Granada also became a feeder club to Udinese a few years back.. In that time they won promotion and stayed up in La Liga based on bringing through talented youths from Italy..

Will it work for Watford? I'm not sure, but they've got nothing to lose as they weren't in a position to challenge for promotion anyway..

Also, Zola is a sound choice.. He played decent football at WHU and performed a minor miracle in keeping them up with all the injuries and players sold that they had.. WHU improved their squad the following season, got a few of their key players back to full fitness yet still went down showing that Zola in fact did a decent job there..

Watford finished above us last season, and whilst we appear to be getting weaker they appear to be getting stronger.. We're both midtable sides, so it will be interesting to see where we both end up at the end of the season..

They are likely to have given Zola a decent budget to play with unlike our tight board. They have one of the most productive Academy set ups. Think their Academy has produced 50 players who have made their profssional debuts. Thats where they edged us out last season. Doubt we will be able to compete with them if Zola is also given extra Italian and Spanish loanees and a budget to bring in his own players.
