Cloughie's brand new squad

You don't think youngsters will improve with experience. I do, I think all of our buys from last season will show improvement individually as well as a squad.

Mind you, saying they ALL will be of similar quality as cheaper alternatives is probably a bit naive.

Davies going isn't the end of the world if we get a decent fee and if - and this is the big if - the money is reinvested in the squad.

Maguire's such a strange one, though. Never got a chance. Either a scouting failure or a man-management failure.

There is always the slim possibility that is could be player failure?

I agree, I think Bailey's asking for a big pay increase because he's proven he can handle the championship, when maybe we offered him a league 1 player contract in case things didn't work out.

Glick has mentioned in the past that we are going to have to reduce the wage bill of the likes of Leacock, Bywater, Varney that were still on our books longer than anticipated last season, which cost the club £3 million, hence why there doing the best to get rid of the players that arent going to play a role at the club, rather then letting them sit around and do nothing. Last season, we would not have noticed if Addison was there or not, the same applies to Croft, Maguire and in some cases Bailey, as Hendrick and Bryson did play the majority of the games together. If these players combined (Croft, Bailey, Maguire and Addison) are on £20,000 a week, it would make sense to get rid of them which would not only bring in capital from there but also save the club £1 million over the season. We'd have a tighter squad, and allow us to bring in 1 or 2 players that would compete for places, whereas these players didn't get a look in for one thing or another.

-------------------------------------------Fielding/Legzdins---------------------------------------

-----Brayford/Naylor-----Buxton/O'Brien------Shackell/Lelan------Roberts/*New*------

------Jacobs/Davies-----------Hendrick/Hughes-------Bryson/New?-------Ward/Tyson----

-------------------------------Robinson/Ball-------------New/Bennett---------------------------

Seems like a pretty small squad, and a few injuries in certain areas would stretch us, but we seem to have quite a lot of versatility in the team, such as Ward can play on either wing and upfront, Hughes again can play in the middle or wide right. Most players can cover 3 positions, so maybe with this tight budget, Clough is looking for players that can play numerous positions if we are hit by injuries. Would be nice to see 3 or 4 players bought in, 2 Strikers, Right winger and a left back for peace of mind.

I'd want another centre half, a left back, a Centre Forward and replacements for Tyson and B Davies who I'd let go. I know that sounds ambitious but this assumes we get rid of the 5 announced yesterday, as well as the two above.

Had rather hoped that the core team Nigel had built would just need a few new, shrewd signings to give the side a chance to compete for a top 6 place. Sadly, Barks out and Savies on his way leaves us with a partial side and the probability of another year of financial austerity, and mid-table blandness or worse. Lets hope that Nige gets some support from GSE, got to speculate to accumulate, and no one is being made to play by sound financial rules until next year, so lots of pressure to get into to the Prem this year I suppose? Growth forecast isn't strong for next season, perhaps Glick should get out of bed with Merkel and heed the words of monsieur Hollande.

A good mate of mine is friends with the Davies family and he has shed a bit of light on the situation. It is genuine that he wants to move due to family reasons. NC has been supportive and accepts that a geographical move would be beneficial. As far as rejecting a contract, i understand that he wasn't asking for more money!!! You can make your own assumptions and as LeedsRam pointed out he's not the first and wont be the last. The club NOT NC want to sell him and others. Also he has had some awful things tweeted and messaged to him today which is just so unfair. Even if you dont rate him, i feel that abusing Savies is totally unacceptable from any Derby fans. NC has a massive task ahead and we need to really be behind him. YANKS OUT

Isn't it a contradiction to say that Savies wants to leave, and then go on to say that the club wants to sell him (unless both are true, then it's a question of which came first).

I think he means he wants to leave at the end of his contract and the club want to sell him now instead.

But - if we've written him off without really giving him a go - that would generally reflect badly on the scouting. (True whether the issue is technical, mental or personal.)

Hollande would probably make us sell half of our squad and then make statements about why we aren't doing well, how it is our fault and not her brain dead ebola save every penny policy and telling us she has no sympathy with us when we are relegated because she looks at how poor Burton Albion's team is.

Exactly- he has obviously done something to piss Clough off, whether this was football related or away from the game is irrelevant. Our manager does not want him at the club, for whatever reason we should trust his judgement

Hollande is a man of your own heart I'd have thought YR as a socialist. I don't like him personally, I was just playing devils advocate, puzzles me that austerity is seen as good for DCFC but bad for the economy. Its the exact same thing on just a bigger scale, how are you expected to move forward by repeatedly cutting costs? Answers on a postcard.
