By being the only economy left- Greece, Italy, Spain= fcucked. Thanks EU, what a great idea! fcuckwits

Perhaps this is where it differs then Shilts. We don't have an economy without the countries you list. Germany doesn't either. We have nigh on a trillion quid of loaned money to the eurozone, we're the most exposed arguably out the lot. But that is politics and this is football, not of my better anologies based on the above.

More exposed than Greece? Ok then. The point I was making is that the EU was a flawed idea and has put many countries in serious financial risk, with the single currency exacerbating the problem. I wasn't saying that ours would be the only economy left but that to survive cuts are needed. Back to the football analogy- if clubs are allowed to spend irresponsibly as Portsmouth, Rangers and umpteen others have then they will go into administration. Clubs that do make sensible cuts will not and therefore making cuts is a long term strategy that will allow clubs to improve over time by being in a better situation than the clubs that did not

Yes, more exposed. Exposure ofcourse being from the lender's perspective, not the borrower. Greece has borrowed money and spent that money, not loaned it, borrowed money it shouldn't have had, it was afforded cheap debt on the same basis as one of the world's major industrial powerhouses: Germany. We have circa £14 billion in Greece according to the Financial Times, what exposure do they have to British debt? Greece needs to be accountable for its painfully low tax receipts, forged books and blatant fabrication of figures to the EU budgetary commission. And I fully agree that the EU was a flawed idea.

Football bit I can follow the theory!

More fool us for "lending" them the money. Loans of this type are not loans as we know them. We would have known full well that we would never see the money again- they are a tool of politics, a way of influencing policies and trade alliances.

The initial debt was built up by bank lending (i.e. RBS etc.), banks have no political ambitions, just to make shareholders rich. Subsequent debts, namely the bailouts are secured by the UK itself to try and ensure the Greek economy doesn't collapse. A collapse would mean the Greeks default on payments of original debts which could cause the UK treasury (and taxpayer) to potentially have to bail out our banks toxic debt. I'm not really sure what political advantage or trade alliance there is here, its a torrid state of affairs with no winners.

Now listen here you lot, ive hacked into mo55y's brain.. (difficult job in itself) to try and explain my motives

to you, most of you seem to think you can run this club better than me, I know you all mean well, but

technically you are delaying our progress by questioning my every decision. I am actually the one who

is PAID for managing Derby County Football Club. You may have noticed one or two big names leaving

the club, but we need players who are 100% committed to the cause. I am here for the long term and intend

to see it through. If I have to explain my every decision to you, obviously the long term will be even further away.

You have to crack a few eggs anorl that. Be patient, it will all come together, sooner, rather than later, if i'm left

to do the job i'm employed to do.

Cheers , mo55y, you can have your braincell back now.. 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

My admiration for Nigel knows no bounds. Even Brian wouldn't have been able to find summat Mo55y's brothers weren't sure even existed 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Hollande is a man of your own heart I'd have thought YR as a socialist. I don't like him personally, I was just playing devils advocate, puzzles me that austerity is seen as good for DCFC but bad for the economy. Its the exact same thing on just a bigger scale, how are you expected to move forward by repeatedly cutting costs? Answers on a postcard.

sorry i got mixed up between Hollande and Lagarde was rushing for time and damn those french 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />
