Le Fondre, played hell of a lot more and scored the same amount of goals... as I said, it remains to be seen. I am 90% sure the replacement would be Waghorn, is he a better player? we'll see.

Ok not le Fondre (even though a lot of them games were sub apperances) what about Ricardo Vaz Te (when he joined Barnsley), Charlie Austin, Danny Graham (when he joined Watford), Grant Holt, Steve Morison (when he joined Milwall, NC also rated him at Stevenage), Simeon Jackson etc.

£1 million for a player who has only one year left on his contract and doesn't have that greatest fitness record is a "snap your hands off" offer.

As long as he is replaced by someone better... I'm really disappointed that him and bailey have been talked about leaving, people have indifferent opinions about both players but both are at the top end of our squad lists when comparing ability IMO.

I hoped we'd of kept hold of Davies, and added someone next to him... It's looking more and more likely he is off, although, since it looks like his pushing his own way out then we can't argue, we are in the modern game only as big as our ambition and pockets... **** 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Not too bothered about that if we get decent fees and it's reinvested directly.

IMO this sounds more like "spin" from team Glick again!!! Apparently they did offer Savies a 3 year contract but wanted him to take a massive pay cut and rip up the 1 year extension! You. Can't blame him for being pissed off at that, as they only have a short career. I believe that the Leeds offer is an old story, from when he signed for us as they were favourites to sign him at the time. Glick wil sell ANYONE as he needs cash! I feel sorry for NC I really do.

Said that there putting Bailey on the transfer list because he'd find it difficult to break up the Hendrick-Bryson partnership at the minute, god knows what happens if one of them break their legs

Stick greenie in there. Oh wait....

This may be a bit skeptical of me, but I feel, Davies is leaving because he no longer fits into the squad. I think most people would agree that Robinson puts in more effort then Davies, however Davies has the greater abundance of talent. Yet, they still ended up joint top goalscorer, and at the end of the season dinner when asked if they are looking forward to the new summer, Robinson was enthusiastic saying 'yeah yeah, i can't wait to get back' and Davies basically said 'not really, i'm looking forward to my holiday, and not going to think about football for 10 weeks.' So maybe he's not enjoying training as much, and would prefer to work for a team that relies more on talent then work ethic?

Derby County boss Nigel Clough has revealed that Steven Davies could leave Pride Park this summer.

The 24-year-old striker was offered a new three-year deal following conclusion of the 2011-12 season, in which he scored 12 goals and finished joint-top goalscorer alongside Theo Robinson.

However due to family circumstances, Davies made the decision to turn down the offer. Subsequently, after consultation with the frontman, he has been made available for transfer.

He remains under contract with Derby until the summer of 2013 after the Club took up the option to extend his contract by a further year.

Davies joined the Rams back in 2008 and has netted 21 goals in 49 League starts since his arrival from League 1 side Tranmere Rovers.

He began the 2011-12 npower Championship in fine form, netting five goals in 10 games, before injury struck. The Liverpudlian was ruled out for almost four months after suffering a fractured skull in the side's 1-1 home draw with Southampton in October. After undergoing surgery he made a full recovery and returned to action during the closing months of the campaign, scoring five times during March.

Clough said: "There's no falling out with Steven, no disagreement about money, no lack of ambition by the Club or anything like that. He has genuine reason why he has turned the offer down and it's one that we accept and understand.

"People might be sceptical about this news but we completely respect Steven's decision. He's available for transfer and if a bid comes in which matches our valuation, then we'll move on and wish Steven and his family all the very best."

Available: James Bailey - who has a year left on his contract - has been made available for transfer

Meanwhile, Clough has also confirmed that four other players have been made available for transfer this summer as he looks to freshen up his squad in a bid to build on Derby's 12th-placed finish in the Championship.

Miles Addison, Chris Maguire and Lee Croft, who enjoyed loan spells with AFC Bournemouth, Portsmouth and St Johnstone respectively in the second half of the season, as well as midfielder James Bailey, have had their names circulated to other clubs.

Clough explained: "Miles, Lee and James have a year left on their deals, so it makes good sense from that point of view to get a fee in if we can for them. Miles, Chris and Lee barely featured for us last season and moving forwards are unlikely to, while in James's case he hasn't done anything wrong it's just that he's going to find it very hard to break up the Bryson-Hendrick midfield pairing we have."

Despite the potential departures Clough says the Rams are working behind the scenes on inward bound deals - but insists patience will be crucial during the close-season.

He added: "It's a big 'cat and mouse' at the moment and barring one or two clubs doing deals, there's not too much going on at the moment around the leagues. It'll pick up at some point I'm sure, but at the moment there's not too much activity with players and managers being away on holiday; and it's all about being patient right now."

[Edit: beaten to the link, no point people reading it twice]

It made me laugh what a Leeds fan had put on a forum:

"Of course we are going to be linked with lots of players, because of who we are, a recent Premier club".

I didn't realise they had renamed League One (again)?

Does that mean we will never sign a CM while there here then?

Seems a strange theory like you say what if one gets injured? Or both?

or perhaps bailey wants to be first choice and was told he isn't.

and so he's quite happy to move...
