Wolfie20
Sad news. I seem to remember him having similar issues when he was with Derby.
Millenniumram
That’s sad to hear. I think he had to have some sort of operation here around the time McClaren came in which was something to do with his heart, I imagine this must be related. Poor bloke. Still reckon he would have made an excellent player had he been available more often for us, it’s a shame really. Main thing is that he remains fit and well mind, football always comes second to that.
OUTSIDER
Has to retire due to heart problems, met his parents in Derby when he first found out and they could not praise Derby more highly in the way they looked after him and his family https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2020/0615/1147569-newports-mark-obrien-forced-to-retire-aged-27/

Duracell
Not sure how to receive this news - is he desperately unlucky to have his career limited by his heart, and other injuries, or very lucky to have had a career in football despite them? The truth is probably somewhere in between. Real shame. I rated him.
Van der MoodHoover
Reading that article I'd forgotten he was one of our legion of cruciate ligament injuries. Crikey we've had some of those......
IslandExile
Very sad. Feel for him. I remember him taking the ball off an attacker by flicking the ball over his own head, turning and collecting. I thought 'classy, this guy will have a great career with us'.
MaltRam
Good lad, was OB. Maybe suffered a bit for not being a huge strapping centre back in my recollection, but a good 'un. Good luck to him.
OUTSIDER
scored a late winner for Newport to keep them in the league https://www.skysports.com/football/news/29026/10866578/watch-newport-stay-in-league-two-thanks-to-mark-obriens-dramatic-winner
blackNwhites
Came into the first team when Clough was in charge, didn't he? He looked so young. Good luck to him, too young for that sort of condition.
