Totally underwhelmed with this, I  hope it doesn't go through, it goes against everything GR said about building a young hungry team.  At this rate there will be the unmistakable stench of boiled cabbage & stale p***s about PP.

Have you ever thought that Rowett may have wanted to buy young exciting prospects but was stopped by Mel?

He clearly came in and said no more 30 something's from the prem on big wages, maybe Mel Morris wanted big names and the instant success he has been craving.

If so, fair play Mel and keep it up! leadbitter next followed by Matty James followed by Lawrence and if I'm being greedy, followed by Jota would be grand thanks uncle Mel ?

It's possible that we wanted a tough CDM to bolster the squad (Whelan, Leadbitter etc) but also thought GT would be the silkier version. When his injury hoodoo returned (hopefully a temporary blip) they saw Huddlestone as his natural replacement.

We may need to ship out a few before we can bring in the speedier, younger players we crave.

We have a lot of players who do basically the same thing but not to the standard required.

We need better attacking midfield options than we have at present.

Any two from Lawrence, James and Jota would do nicely.

Could lose two from Bryson, Butterfield, Johnson, Weimann, Blackman.and Bent.

This guy was in the Spurs first team not very long ago. Hull signed him as they were looking to push on to be an established premier league team.

Think some people forget just how good he his.

I watched him when he was young. He was stolen from us at an early age.

2 million bid accepted.

He has at least 3-4 years of football in him, plenty of ability, 2m is a gamble i would take. His lack of mobility is worrying but he sure can pick a pass. I'm up for this, i hope he is , given they have offered him a new deal to keep him. Tom , black and white suits you mate, gold and black is so yesterday lol:thumbsup:

Hull City offering him a new deal

Hull City offer Tom Huddlestone new contract with Derby County confident of signing player as Andy Robertson set for Liverpool

Tom Huddlestone offered improved deal to fend off Derby County interest but Hull City resigned to losing Robertson

Hull City ’s summer exodus looks set to continue as Andrew Robertson and Tom Huddlestone move closer to exiting the club.

Liverpool are closing in on an £8m deal to take Robertson to Anfield, while Derby Country have met the £2m release clause in Huddlestone’s contract.

While City are resigned to losing Robertson, the Mail understands the club have made Huddlestone an offer of an improved contract on a longer deal, with the onus now on the player to make a decision. Derby, however, remain confident of landing their man.

Having already seen Curtis Davies, Harry Maguire, Josh Tymon and Shaun Maloney leave the KCOM Stadium in recent weeks and with Ahmed Elmohamady and Kamil Grosicki likely to follow suit, the departure of Robertson and Huddlestone would leave City in a similar situation to last summer with a threadbare squad

Chelsea right-back Ola Aina is new manager Leonid Slutsky’s only senior recruit, with the Russian desperately in need of reinforcements just three weeks out from City’s opening Championship game at Aston Villa on August 5.

Huddlestone could be the next to depart after Derby yesterday met the former Totenham Hospur midfielder’s relegation release clause.

It would mean a reunion not just with Davies, who left for £500,000 in similar circumstances last month, but a return to the Rams where he started his career as a teenager.

Derby doing an old friend a favour... whip up some interest in him, get Hull panicked into offering a better and longer contract, Tom signs it and becomes a hero for staying 'loyal', we avoid buying an old man who can't run, the club look good for trying to buy a former favourite, academy star, ex-england international who 'got away' for peanuts.  Everybody wins... is what a horrible old cynic might come up with

I, of course, would never think this way - far too much of a happy clapper for that!
