More athleticism?

If that is the answer , then the last player you need on a team is fat boy.

He's got a strength and core strength that allows the balk to stick further up the pitch with his hold up play. Doesn't get bullied like 'athletes' such as Vydra do. But if you put a fast player like Vydra or Anya around him, that's when both types of athleticism compliment each other.

Athleticism doesn't = fast players. Connor Samson and Theo Robinson were fast, doubt Rowett would prefer them to Martin.

The quote is more athleticism... this does not necessarily mean every player has to be 'an athelete' (in they way I'm assuming most of us are thinking), just that we need more people of that ilk to make us a better team overall.  Blend and balance and all that guff.

It does mean that if you add a less athletic player your team won't become more athletic. #logic

Does it? That would only be true if you started with the same baseline.  If he's going to out and buy 10 runners, then you can afford to have one so-called less athletic player in the team.  The net result is still a greater level of athleticism.

Chris Martin is a powerful athletic lad.

Do not get the fat boy bit he's looked great at Fulham.

So it's a 10 steps forward 1 step back sort of plan then ?
