Gypsy Ram
I'm a fan of James MaCavoy. His movie Filth about an alcaholic-corrupt Scottish detective is brilliant. Also, Apocalypto is a true underated epic, directed by Mel Gibson.
WhiteHorseRam
@StringerBell Putting Sting puns aside, is your choice of new avatar pic a reflection of you liking the Lynch Dune? I've always liked it, while it has always been roundly panned.

Dont do any research, just watch it and stick with it during the rather strange first 20 mins. I nearly walked out of the cinema, bored, but so glad I stayed to the end. Since this won oscars, does it really fit with the title of the thread?
AndyinLiverpool
The Devils. Ken Russell at his best. Oliver Reed, Vanessa Redgrave and that bloke out of Lovejoy. Horrific scenes of pain and death and a nun orgy thing thrown in.

Sounds like one Mary Whitehouse would have waded into, can imagine she would have opposed any willy waving or gore.

I've always liked it, while it has always been roundly panned. It's entirely pun related. I sort of like the film but then I like any old 80s film so probably look at it through rose tinted glasses a bit. I mean I really will watch anything from the 80's even the naff stuff. I dont think it's a particularly good adaptation of the book though. I like David Lynchs other films and I like 80s fantasy/sword and sorcery films but I don't think they made for a good marriage. Apparently George Lucas wanted Lynch to direct Return of the Jedi. I'm glad that didn't happen. All in all it's not as good as Masters of the Universe.
