Beer Thread

A christmas present just got opened.

I think it was bought for me as a joke by someone who's bloody walking back from the next away match I give him a lift to - a Swedish lager which goes by the name of Pistonhead.

This is the foulest muck I have ever tasted in my life. As soon as I took the cap off I realised that something was very amiss - the stench of sulphur was the only detectable aroma - and that was from a yard away. I can only assume that the beer has been left beside a furnace with a very bright ultraviolet light playing on it for about six months, because the beer was skunked with a capital S.

I ventured a taste but couldn't bring myself to swallow it. A quick dash to the sink and I had spat it out, followed by glass and bottle contents.

Best of luck to anyone else who tries this 'beer'. Like I said, I suspect that my bottle had gone off, so perhaps it's not always rank.

I'd better make the most of these trappist beers then, all the monks are dying off!

Then again, it could be a new career opportunity for me, and I wouldn't have to change my lifestyle very much at all....

Drinking their own ***** beer no doubt?

tbh i have no idea whether they drink their beer or not, or even whether they're allowed to! (If I didn't like it I'd say "perhaps that's why it tastes awful" but I do like it, so i won't)

Anyway my 2nd 'Beer Of The Day' is Goose Island IPA, only 5.9%. Despite being owned by InBev now (**** InBev) it is very nice.

This is a brewery local to me. Their beer is delicious and available from their shop (link below). I particularly like Dark and Handsome and Derail Ale.

That's somewhat of a coincidence. I've been watching some youtube video reviews of stuff I bought, and one linked to a broken bottle of rochefort 10 received in the post.... along with a non broken bottle of theaforementioned D&H (sent from Tuvaar reviews > Real Ale Craft beer Guide)
