I am not referring to the article from the Sun but I am certain that by the end of next season that McClaren will be managing a Premiership side. If he doesn't get us promoted he can quite rightly say that he did not feel that he was up to the job and resign. He will then get a Premiership job either straightaway or when teams start panicking at Xmas. Otherwise he will be in the Premiership with Derby. If he gets us up then he will be in the premiership with us. Rush could get McClaren to sign a more lucrative contract but Rush would not give any more credibility to it, so would not do that.

Toon fan here. You have no worries.

You are thinking its McClaren because of what was said in the interview.

Firstly toon fans don't want a British manager. We would see it as a pointless appointment due to the nature of the job.

We are looking for a head coach and so we should employ a head coach. The best head coaches and ones who are used to our job description, are Europeans.

Carr is a huge fan of Galtier. Galtier wont leave mid season.

The fans would really prefer De Boer but again he wont leave mid season.

No one with any sense wants to see another British manager with our set up.

Its bad for the club because they fight it rather than embrace it.

Another priority the club has is the introduction of youth in the first team.

Galtier and De Boer are both specialists at this.

McClaren would be on a hiding to nothing if he came here. He is ex boro too so would have to start winning immediately.

Foreign coaches would be given time by our fans because they know it will take time to change our playing style from the horrendous stuff we watch now.

McClaren just wouldn't be given the same benefit of doubt.

I also feel that the labeling of the job 'head coach' shows we are going European.

I hope I have allayed some of your fears.

I lived in Derby for 6 years and even worked as a steward for a season in the old baseball ground so your club, although not my club, is still very dear to me.

Anyhow take care and I look forward to seeing you in the premiership soon

While I agree that we have nothing to fear, it's worth mentioning that we have the continental-style setup here with the Technical Director, and McClaren's title is actually 'Head Coach' here. And Mac is the most 'European' English manager around because of his experiences in Holland and Germany.

But yes, I agree, you'll want someone foreign anyway. Makes sense that way.

Good point, but we don't have a director of football.

Because of this I think if we had really wanted McClaren we wouldn't have changed the job title.

We would have kept the title 'manager' just like we had with Pardew and then explained to him how we did things.

The changing of the title opens more doors in Europe so it tells me that its definitely European we are after.

Its 'howay' but thanks

Don't worry he's yours and will stay that way.

You will need him next season to keep the score down

in our season, where we managed a mere 11 points, 4 came off of the magpies.. I'd argue we're rather looking forward to playing your lot!

If you guys had any sense you would go for Francisco Jemez Martin - aka Paco.

Has worked wonders with Rayo Vallecano, adopts an attacking approach at all times, guided Rayo to excellent league positions using mainly young players - Need to remember they - along with Eibar - are minnows in comparison to the rest of La Liga.

Outside of the big two, they play the most attacking football in the league and are 2nd in average ball possession - ahead of Real Madrid.

Wonderful manager, only 44-years-old, adopts youth and deserves a crack a big club. Could take Newcastle places and would definitely go there if offered the job - plus his contract is up in June 2015 meaning he'll practically be free.

The article in question suggests that Newcastle are now resigned to having to wait until the summer, and McClaren is only one of a number of potential managers mentioned.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/pa/article-2923436/Magpies-set-summer-appointment.html

Newcastle look almost certain to wait until the summer to appoint a permanent successor to Alan Pardew.

Managing director Lee Charnley indicated earlier this week that the club are prepared to wait until the end of the season in order to get the right person for the job.

Press Association Sport understands the men at the very top of their short-list are all either in employment or otherwise unavailable until the end of the current season, and while that could mean a frustrating delay, they are unwilling to settle for a lesser candidate simply because he could start work immediately.

John Carver looks set to remain in the dugout for the rest of the campaign

Indeed, there is an acceptance that the fact their major targets are currently out of their grasp is evidence they are doing something right and worth pursuing, and having been encouraged by some of the discussions they have had during the last fortnight or so, the Magpies could be ready to play the long game.

Ajax boss Frank de Boer, who has softened his public stance on the vacancy, has guided his side into second place in the Eredivisie table behind PSV Eindhoven, while St Etienne sit just a point outside the top three in Ligue 1 under Christophe Galtier and Derby manager Steve McClaren is currently masterminding the Rams' bid for promotion to the Barclays Premier League.

In addition, former Lyon boss Remi Garde and ex-Mainz counterpart Thomas Tuchel have both enjoyed a measure of success in the recent past, but are unavailable until the summer.

Charnley and chief scout Graham Carr drew up their list of potential candidates - the club received around 80 formal applications for the job - taking into consideration a specific set of requirements tailored to the model adopted by the Magpies under owner Mike Ashley.

That blueprint was outlined by the managing director this week.

He said: "The traditional English manager who would want full control is not what I'm looking for - they don't fit within our structure or strategy.

"He doesn't have the final say on transfers and doesn't get involved in every aspect of the business. His job is to coach the players and implement and oversee a philosophy that goes through the first team, the reserves and down through the Academy to improve the players and to ensure we get the best out of them."

In the meantime Pardew's former assistant John Carver remains at the helm, and could do so for some time if he is asked to hold the fort until the summer.

So it turns out no one has the slightest idea who the next Newcastle manager will be. Least of all Newcastle it would seem.

If Steve does consider that job he needs to seek therapy. Nothing against Newcastle per se but the football club ownership, fans, players, tea lady and the city's nightlife, reality TV shows, PJ and/or Duncan are beyond ridiculous.

I dislike anyone who advocates the colour orange for a skin tone.
