But that’s the entire point. If you’re scrabbling around to put a squad together, you can’t afford to give one manager 10 games to build a squad, and then get a diametrically opposed manager in to build a completely different squad. Honestly, to suit Warne we probably need to get rid of at least Chester, Davies, Roberts, NML Barkhuizen, Hourihane, Bird, Dobbin, Thompson, McGoldrick and replace them with new players. That’s almost our entire summer transfer dealings in the bin. It’s insane.

Maybe Clowes saw enough from rosenior to use this season as a 'free hit' for his longer term preference of a seasoned coach like Warne? It's short termism that kills football.

  2. Utterly bonkers comments about Warne on here. Three promotions to his name and people writing him off after 5-6 games. A cobbled together side of youth and freebies he's been handed. Knight and Collins unavailable and little depth elsewhere.

Multi-year plan here, no need for overreactions after losing to a team going up via the autos.

  3. At the end of the day any feelings towards Liam will soon dissipate if we get promoted this season under Warne. It’s really hard to argue with his experience versus that of a novice. I’ve always thought Liam has spoken about the game impeccably but I’ve never been convinced by his ability to really command the respect of senior players (find his approach quite weak and uninspiring in the clips on RTV).

That said; he’s been an asset to the club in the seedlings of the post-EFL admin era.

Mixed feelings. A logical move (the loan anyway, not necessarily the destination) for our finances and for his chances of going to the World Cup. Very doubtful he was going to want to play in league 1.

However, when fit, he is absolute class and if there had been any way of keeping him I think he would have been amongst the best players in the league and likely to have been ‘the difference’ in a lot of games.

Oh well. Maybe he’ll come back next season and we’ll see see the best of him here not elsewhere.

He may as well be playing in league one if he’s gone to them. It’ll bypass him anyway as Caddis lumps it up to Donaldson.

  5. This is the thing isn’t it - we’re open to loan offers but someone obviously needs to want him and be prepared to both nurse back his injury and cover his costs. I think there’s a huge chance we keep him until the January window, which could mean he can infuence at least a % of our season and depending on how we do (top 2/6/12 etc) even fancy staying put.

  6. They’d be crazy to not keep their powder dry - I’m just not sure a statement is the best way of going about it. Clowes could have dropped it into a generic RamsTV interview and/or just chatted to LR about it in detail off record (which indeed he might have done).

This could give LR a real energiser though - a performance related incentive to give that extra 10%.

I think his heart was in the job for a time and the emotion that went with it. But deep down in his heart lies Everton / utd and we aren't able to compete with that. The dcfc managers job was a means to an end. I've no idea where Rooney will end up. Part of me secretly hopes the new owner will be installed and they will have a deep and meaningful conversation and shared ambition and will agree to stay.

It obviously doesn’t lie with Everton as he turned them down and make no mistake if this mess hadn’t dragged on for 1.5 years with both his hands tied behind his back he’d have had us pushing play offs.

  8. No doubt it’s a huge set back, but you could argue we’ve lost so much of our spine that the playing squad doesn’t really have much identity left anyway for his (or anyone’s) playing philosophy. He’s done incredibly well with the hand he was dealt and he goes with my full respect.

It starts with ownership and exiting administration, then we can start looking forwards.

Which is what I said back on page 1920. Given how few clearing banks there are in the UK, and how sophisticated the banking systems are in the UK/US, I’d be amazed if the bank CK is alleged to have used to send the money didn’t have a relationship with Q’s bank or at the very least another UK clearing bank.

This is a good point isn’t it - and seems reflective of the vast amount of reactionary activity (and lack of foresight) we seem to be getting from Q. I’m aware we don’t know each and every detail, but the number of unforeseen - by them - kinks in the chain from them is so constant. This is their area of expertise, why is so much done with hindsight and no well executed scenario planning.
