Charliegeorge1962 got a reaction from David Graham Brown in Stick or Twist?
We need the spine of the team with experience. And a few fresh players around the older experienced players.
Remember when Cloughie brought in Dave MacKay people said he was past it. Cloughie put some younger players around him as you never lose the football brain.
75 we we won the league i think we had half the team around 30 years old.
We need experience.

PW will have new players in know doubt about that.
It's whether we find ourselves mid table or top half by Xmas.
Not too sure of PW's record in the Championship?
Seems to be the one that can get a team up from league 1 but ......
Let's stay as we are regarding contracts and see how we are in the Championship first.
Xmas 24 maybe a time to look at and make decisions for the future.
You never know we could do an Ipswich now that would fantastic!

I respect your opinion @sage you always seem well informed and insightful but on this occasion I’m inclined to disagree; he’s not a star indeed but I do believe he’ll be just as effective in the Championship as he was in L1. I also believe he’ll get better and he’s got more goals in his locker. 😲

If I were Clowes I’d be leaving Warne (and his staff’s) contract as is. Warne probably also content with that. There’s still 2 years to run, probably had some sort of bonus or % increase written in should he achieve promotion. Wait and see how we go and if there’s a need to discuss a new deal it can happen later in the next season.

Against a pretty poor team, we are looking pretty woeful. We are clearly going up, but there is much work to do. Seen nothing to suggest I would want Warne managing us in the Championship.

Why not?
The team finishing 3rd is certainly not good enough for promotion in that particular division. Hence why it always worked fairly before the football league grubby little fingers got involved to make more money. 2 up 2 down or 3 up 3 down, promotion and relegation is based over season not on whether you can finish 6th and get promotion.

To make the playoffs more justifiable they should be done something like this.
Top two automatic promotion
Whoever finishes 3rd has to play the team 3rd bottom from the league above. This then proves whether they are capable of playing in that league above.
I hate to think a team finishes 3rd is beaten in the playoff final by the 6th place side just because they had an off day or too many injuries.
Premier league and championship would be a straight swap. Bottom. 3 for the top 3.
It's not about fairness it's about the football league's grubby little fingers making money.

I disagree with play-offs. You've done enough to prove yourself over 46 matches, to finish 3rd in my opinion. Seems unfair you could fail to gain promotion to a team in 6th, finishing say, 20 points behind you and winning the play-offs

I'd rather Lincoln, Blackpool or even Oxford win the playoffs - I would fancy our chances of finishing above them in the Championship next season (assuming of course we ro the business on Saturday).

You might find both sides play with complete changed sides.
Neither side will want to get injured players going into the playoffs.
We do know the Bolton boss has settled for the playoffs before Posh did.
Come on you negative lot - we are 1pt away from promotion, at home in front of 30,000+, against a team already relegated with nothing to play for.

I think the more likely scenario is that they start with a strong team but make plenty of subs at HT if it's not looking good for the autos.
If we ended up losing 2-0 and Bolton ended up fielding an under-strength team against Posh Reserves and end up winning 1-0 they'd be kicking themselves well into the playoffs.
Either way, we should put all of this beyond doubt by going 3-0 up inside the first 10 minutes. F*** what Peterboro and Bolton do.

come on we only need to draw at home in front 30,000 plus against the poorest side in the division who are already relegated.

I have watched some highlights of Carlisle games recently including their loss to Wycombe yesterday & they are woeful in defence including at set pieces. I think if we go at them with pace & energy early doors we will get 1 or 2 goals to calm everyones nerves. That way this PBoro vs Bolton game is irrelevant

For anyone bringing up the reading game I will raise Barnsley under Rowett and West Brom under Lampard where we got decisive victories in the last game of the season at home to make the playoffs.
We’ll get this done
