Devils advocate here regarding the whole ordeal, a little piece of me believes we should be a little bit grateful to middlesbrough for bringing up the allegations for the following reasons

1. If they hadn't brought other allegations we would have been relegated this season 

2. If they didn't bring ourselves and Wednesday to EFL attention how bad could it have been?

3. I believe this ordeal is the main reason for Mel wanting shot. I see this and the keogh ordeal as a hard reset for us. 

4. I think we have the quality under new management to see off any points deduction

It wasn't so long ago that everyone was rooting for us in a play-off final over a "cheating" QPR. Now the tables have turned. There's always the animosity towards the clubs that have splashed the cash to get up but failed, rather than those who were successful as they stuck two fingers up to the rules on the way up.

Lots of praise for teams like Leicester, Villa, Wolves etc in recent seasons for how they've done in the Premier League, with very little mention that they bent the same, or similar rules as we have apparently broken to get there. They were successful with it, we weren't. We're the ones who are vilified.

We have become a laughing stock and everyone's most hated team in the last couple of years. We've cheated is the bottom line of it.

Either way looks to me like Mel's taken a leaf out of Leicester and QPR's books and decided he'd spend whatever and get promoted and then we'd be pretty much exempt from any punishment much like Leicester and to a lesser extent QPR were. Is this pretty much what Reading have done this year as well and now they are fudged because they missed the playoffs? Seems as though so many owners are risking their clubs futures because the lure of the Premier League is financially so big. 

Forgive me if I've got any of this wrong I'm trying to understand it best I can from people's explanations. 

That's pretty much what I have taken from it. Leicester, qpr and especially villa have gotten away with it.

I believe there is one appeal for the losing party, it isn't a case of they could appeal but we can't. Just like Wednesday appealed their 12 point deduction and ended up with 6.

To my understanding that isn't the case, the efl DOES have the power to remove points, the championship season hasn't concluded yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see us have 3 points deducted. 

According to reports on twitter the decision  is imminent.

Agree Fletcher does have something about it him despite his goal record being less than impressive. Not sure if he is best in a front 2 or as a lone striker? 

Not sure mate, he's tall and pacy and scored a few in a rubbish boro team.

I'd take a look at bringing in Ashley fletcher, I think there's definitely a player there and he's on a free. Would be better than waggy IMO. I think mowatt may sign a new deal if Barnsley go up.

I think a club that has cycled through as many managers as we have under Mel, been involved in so many controversies that we see the Corner Flag Tweet more than we see wins, numerous financial issues such as payers not being paid on time and transfer embargo(s), battles with the EFL over and over again (and still going!), drink driving dramas, captains being sacked, games called off for "snow", nearly selling the club to one, two, three different shady buyers...how many reasons do you need? 

If I'm honest, calling us a basket case club is probably going pretty lightly. 

I have tried getting over my points very similar to yours but you articulate a lot better than I do. The club is an absolute shambles and we will have to pay the piper eventually.

Don't get me wrong that is cheating yes and they should be dragged over the coals aswell but whether is Wednesday or boro or whoever I'm just interested in what we do. The thing that still bothers me is that we are still yet to be punished and I think it's coming for next season. I hold mel responsible for being irresponsible. I want nothing more than for the whole thing to be dropped and we can move on under new ownership, coaches and playing staff.

When Gibson brought up ours and wednesdays misdeeds I thought he was full of it and still is on the most part but we overspent and that is cheating. We will receive a points deduction IMO and that will also prove him partly correct. All I have for mel is anger and I want him gone. I am most definitely not a WUM I'm just a very concerned Derby fan and the whole affair gives me massive anxiety.

What the EFL are appealing the punishment will be a fine at most if they win which going on the mess they made 1st time round they won’t ( not allowed to present new evidence ). 

Fine at most are you sure? They can most definitely take 12 points from us if the appeal sides with the EFL

You say that but Gibson is partly being proven right when complaining about us and Wednesday, Wednesday are now able to begin their recovery whilst we are still waiting for the punishment. We will most likely start next season on -12 and IMO that will see us off.
