Is it a good thing for a keeper’s frame of mind if he thinks he’ll be dropped if he drops a bollick. I’d have thought it’s a bit like being a test opening batsman - most play better if they’re  told, ok you’ve got this whole series and the next to prove yourself.

That's worked out well this last few years, Opening you need to be scoring in the 40s/50s if your good enough, Then carry on, No good getting out early or in the 20s/30s, It's a tough job being an opening batter, Get the shine off the ball and feel where the ball is when pitched.

    Opening Bat=Goalkeeper...a specialised position.

PS... this aint the cricket thread ?

Can we legally keep trading if we aren’t financially viable?

financially viable...meaning spending more than coming in, Yes if you have loans, I believe there are soft loans that have been taken up, 32Red have brought forward their payments, Also it was reported that there was maybe a local businessman that has stumped up some loot,.

When outgoings exceed incomings and there is no more corners to turn...then Liquidation is at the end of the straight.

John Middleton competing with Dave McKellar for the shirt. ?

Compared to those two, we're now spoilt for choice.

I'd still argue Roos is a better than average Championship goalie and should play week in, week out.

Until HIS! next mistake, I'm just be as comfortable with Roos as Allsop in goal, Now here's the rub, Allsop knows he's made an error, If WR drops him for that then i'm sure his confidence will take a little knock, Then the pressure will be on Roos knowing if he makes a mistake will he be dropped, I'm sticking with Allsop for the time being...that is until he makes...well you know ?

This particular person is why I won't get involved with RamsTrust. First came across her in another Rams forum about 10 years ago. Her behaviour to other Rams fans online was shocking. Having witnessed her previous posts then, I am not so sure I would give her the benefit of the doubt.

This would be where another female posted a "witch on a broomstick" after her comments, And a visit by the PC Police ensued, I get the feeling someone needs to be heard and listened too at all times?

A lot of major sports venues are looking at going completely cashless, with Covid accelerating people's thinking as well as the tech development. Before Covid Derby were looking at a loyalty scheme involving a card that could be used on concourses, club shop, anything associated with the club/matchday.

Though I imagine much like any loyalty card it was more about data gathering that helping people!

I watched SK Rapid Vienna Vs Lask around 4 years ago, Went for a hot dog at the ground and was told I had to purchse tickets from the ticket machine as cash was a no no, An Austrian next to me paid with the tickets he had and I paid him cash back.

It's a crafty way to make extra loot, If you're a little under or over the toatal amount then you have to purchse more tickets, With no change given, Having said that I gave the fella €10 for 2 hot dogs that were €7.50cents

Do you think Jags was blameless in this?

Can I chuck my 5 peneth in.

With Jagielka behind their attacker you'd have thought it's in the bag, BUT!, He can see Allsop coming to to collect so makes little effort to challenge, Now this is hindsight... If Jagielka had done his job and if Allsop had done his job...I see a collective pileup from the 3 players involved...just My opinion

Good point - I looked at the highlights but it appeared that Allsop simply timed his jump wrong.

I've looked at it, Allsop thinks he's got it, Player out jumps him, If your coming for the ball...then get it, Maybe better staying on his line and just catching when no opposition.

    Highlights here.

Of the 3, Marshall is the worst so it's no surprise he's being left out.  He's made far too many mistakes, despite quite a few on here (holding my hands up, me included) being quite pleased with his initial signing.

So it's a flip of a coin between Roos and Allsop.  Both have shown flashes of brilliance but then both have shown flashes of utter ineptness. Make a mistake as a keeper and it's usually a goal conceded.  We spout lyrical about Davis and Jagielka (rightly so) but both have made stupid mistakes over the past couple of weeks, but have got away with it.

I actually prefer Allsop but it's a close call.  I just have a bit more confidence about his ability to handle crosses,  yeah, yeah, last night aside.  Roos always seems to flap more.  Both are good shot stoppers, both can use the ball well.  But let's face it, I don't think we look at any of our keepers and say with confidence we've the best in the league.  I'd prefer Rodak or, dare I say Brice Samba who I rate.

    Good post

On Brice Samba, Hughton said and did drop him towards the end of his tenure as he was costing the dogs goals, Now back as the number 1, Those who have played and watched football...being a keeper and the last line of defence is down to confidence, Have the confidence to come and collect the ball, Have the confidence in organising your defence, Knowing when or not to come for the ball, With us playing from the back there's been times when Allsops playing from the back has almost cost us, As it has with our other keepers, This is down to tactics of the Manager and his team, I swore a few times last night at the knife edge we were playing on.

I see Hamer is doing well at Swansea...strange game is football ?

You are joking? Relative height of our players and theirs meant there was a mismatch at every corner.

We're just a load of short-arses compared with most teams!

I think the words you're looking for are.

We just have a lot more smaller players compared to most teams

Ok ...I.ve never been one to say I'm ITK as I'm not but a good friend of mine was out with someone this weekend who is heavily involved as part of admin team and because my mate knows I'm a Ram got some interesting bits of info after a few beers apparently.

Not loads of info and maybe some is known or old news  but thought I'd share anyway

The debt is 105m and there are at least 6 parties very interested in taking over and looks promising ...

Mike Ashley is 100 per cent one of those interested parties what i did find hard to believe was he said that 30m was owed to large chains of hotels for accomodation / hospitality /  away trips etc which seems excessive but says has built up over many years .....also said the club has been run very poorly but think we already know that

    A few beers...how many??

Not every mistake, but that mistake was very poor. Plus this is my point, how does Roos get back in the team? Do we wait for Allsop to cost us more points first? Why wait, we know Roos is a better goalkeeper.

3 clean sheets in 5 games for Allsop is good but I wouldn't really say he has been particularly impressive. Aside from maybe one game he hasn't really had much to do that wasn't pretty straightforward.

The Lone Ranger said to Tonto when 100 marauding Red Indians...had them both en-circled, We will fight to the death Tonto...Who's this WE? Kimosabi.

What Rooney can also do is improve his tactical decisions when making subs, because despite all of the (excellent) hard work he's done in setting up and motivating the team his substitutions often have a habit of contributing to our undoing.

You could point out the limited options in the squad, but they are still options and mistakes were still made last season when we had more options; our only away win this season came at Hull when Stearman came on for the last 10 minutes and won everything in the air, could we not have taken a different tactical approach and got him on the pitch?

Yes it's all ifs, buts and maybes but perhaps Allsopp wouldn't have come for the punch if a fresh-legged Stearman had taken control of the situation? There are other variables of course, but was putting on an 18 year old LWB the best move? Another manager may have made a different call and we're sat here celebrating a victory.

To use another cliche though, it's swings and roundabouts - another manager may fail to beget the same team spirit and battling performances from this group so you'd be swapping some of that out for experience and tactical nous.

I suppose this is where having 'an experienced head' alongside him could have helped, rather than turning him around and getting the opinion of the even less experienced Rosenior on the best changes to make. Rooney has made it very clear that he's his own man and doesn't want that sort of arrangement.

    Hindsight is a wonderfull thing?

Allsopp has looked good since coming in. The second goal was a very good cross right in the area of uncertainty he came but it was too good and their big forward got above the defence to score. If he had stayed and they scored then he would have also been criticised. If we had scored that goal we would be praising the quality of the ball in and the finish. Hope he is still in on Saturday.

Any ball that goes into the box NEAR an attacking player is a good cross...nowt special about it, Allsop is the keeper it's his area, He should have got that ball all day long, Slight hesitency and he missed by inches, He knows he cocked up...as his actions when he crouched down when the ball enters the net...quite simply, HIS FAULT!

1st goal down to our defender being beaten at the near post...ball goes to the far post and scrambled in.

As for those who are screaming for either Roos or Marshall, Are they guarenteed not to make a mistake...that's a big NO!, I've said before on their day they're good keepers...but all have a mistake in them.

    Keep Allsop in goal...for now.

Can I just suggest a name change if you decide on a legal career ? . Pistol Pete might not be the most appropriate moniker for a High Court Judge ?

I wanted to be a Goalie but I found that being called Butterfingers Bill restricted my opportunities just a little

As it happens my mate was sent down 2 years ago for cattle rustling, I asked him who the judge was...yes you've guessed it, Pistoldpete, This judge needs putting out to grass.
