I kind of explained it in the rest of the post I made, but I think he meant the entire team. They didn't respond well to our fans getting loud. They were over-awed and noticeably became wobbly. Lost their heads in that period after the second goal.

It just goes to show what an important part the home fans can play this season and the addition of flags and banners has helped I think (well done to those involved). The atmosphere in our two victories was very reminiscent  of our -21 points season and long may it continue.  It was surprising how stunned and quiet the City fans were in the second half, as if they expected to just turn up and take the three points.

  2. I had the pleasure of enjoying both manager's teams, but probably appreciated Arthur's tenure most. It was my first taste of success as a Derby fan after a barren decade (my first game was in 1976).  I missed a fair bit of Jim's time at Derby, living in Aberdeen and seeing them mainly on telly. Probably a better team than Arthurs' with the excellent foreign buys, just wish I could have seen more of that era in the flesh.

  3. I enjoyed that. hard to pick out a MOM as everyone played their part including the fans. By contrast Bristol City made a bit of noise at the beginning, but seemed to be in stunned silence all of the second half. I was a little worried that Bird and Knight would come back to haunt us, but they looked a shadow of their former selves. Another beer or two are calling, enjoy your evening fellow rams.

    182.

    Place of birth: Chester-le-Street

    Signed for Derby: 1971

    First club: Sunderland

    Last club: Luton Town

    Position: DF

    Full caps: 27

Fun fact:  His first and last caps were both against Northern Ireland

The great Colin Todd, who I had the pleasure of seeing in Denmark when he managed Esbjerg a few years ago. Unfortunately a 5.1 home defeat to FCK meant the end to his management career was nigh. Great player, but i was too young to see him in his prime.

Now that every non saturday 3pm kick off is now on Sky Sports +, it's bound to have an effect on the gate. Even you haven't got Sky, you can get a one day pass.

It'll be nice and warm tonight, just hope that I can get back to my car after the match, before the rain comes.

Enjoy. Wish I could make it there myself, but too far away with work today.

Attendance. It's the League Cup. Opening rounds have seen lower crowds everywhere in recent seasons.

I think the club might have missed a trick though. It's a Derbyshire Derby, They'll be bringing a fair contingency. If the South had also been open, and not just the East, I think we'd have sold more than we have so far.

Not sure it would make much difference. I stood in the South end v Crewe in the FAC replay last season and  the crowd was less than 6.5k, with about 1.5k Crewe fans. Should be a bigger gate tonight.

Pretty much 700 tickets left for this.

So we'll be taking 3600 as it stands.

There was lots of people last season not happy cos they couldn't get tickets for away games, so I bet this last 700 will be snapped up easily.

Think there are 1000 tickets left as a block of 300 have yet to be released, so we have sold about 3,300. Hopefully these will go over the next week.
