Took a bit longer than I expected but the Bradley critics have started to stir. He was a solid 7/10 in the games he played in the last dozen games or so and to actually say his only decent performance was in a pre-season friendly is hilarious.

to say he was a 7/10 in last 12 games is even more hilarious to me

We weren’t literally camped in our own box much last season and I reckon many of us thought he did well once he’d got over his early season disaster. How he fares against Championship opposition is any one’s guess but you could probably say that about most of our players.

i think he's talking specifically about the stoke game.

Bradley's only real strength is his heading. You can mostly get away with this in league one, but when he comes up against championship sides every week that actually want to play football, his lack of pace, decision making, etc, etc, will unfortunately be found out. We saw examples of this in league one with some of the teams that try to play good football.

What if Roos had just extended his arms a bit more? What if the Villa player hadn’t scored with the back of his neck somehow? Would we have beaten West Brom if they’d won the penalty shootout? Anything could’ve happened that game. It’s strange how fine margins can affect so much in football. Not just Derby but also the likes of Watford who got relegated by 1 point the season after.

I'm pretty sure they scored a goal at Sheff Utd at the end of their first season that kept them up, that with goal line technology would have relegated them as it didn't go in.  Get the luck sometimes as well.

that was sheff utd that scored that 'goal'

Villa finished 11th that season, almost 30 points clear of relegation

Nope. By far the better team and squad.

A half fit Jack Marriott wasn’t changing a damn thing. We didn’t leave the second coming of Pele on the bench, his career has showed everyone that.

You mean the marriott that scored one and was so close to getting another?

Or the marriott that came on and completely changed the play off v leeds with 2 goals?

the sprinklers are usually on pre-match and at half time, to help promote a slick type of play, which is actually the style Warne prefers to play.

    No

Fair enough Bird only has 2 out of 12 from set pieces. But the majority of Hourihanes have been set pieces with 7 out of 13

Over half of Birds goals/assists have come while playing as a no.10 behind the striker.

Saying 'outstanding goal contribution stats for CM's' is somewhat misleading

Tell you what's amazing- how Bird and Hourihane have got 5G/7A and 5G/8A, respectively, when Warne's tactic is ''not to use them''... Outstanding goal contribution stats for central midfielders; almost like you're just generalising since Bird particularly has also played some of his best football in a Derby shirt this season. Funny that. 🤔

aren't the majority of those goals/assists just from set pieces though

I watched the actual game -as I assume did you- so have 100% of the info, why on earth would I downgrade to an estimate of what I just watched? Why use a pre-shot model when I have the post-shot version that actually happened?

xG is an estimate for teams or games you haven't watched (and even then it's very hit-and-miss if not useless for individual games)

A great example of the flaws of xG when used in isolation. It gives 0.15 or less for 3 of the goals (which should always measure 1), just 0.1 for their open goal (as close to a goal as it can get), 0.15 for the Nelson, Collins and Cbt openings which were all poor attempts (and 2 of which in the same sequence), and zero for their penalty claim which if given would be almost 1.

I can’t agree with this. We’ve been brilliant in a lot of games, let’s not forget that. We’ve battered a lot of teams. However, there will inevitably be games where luck plays its part and we miss out. Wasn’t there but the highlights suggest we had three decent chances, they had none and won 1-0. It’s bound to happen. We’re not City, our players aren’t that much better than the opposition so the opportunity for luck to play a part is greater.

Let’s not forget as well that we’re unlikely to have much of a foundation given the club made its first signing for a fee three months ago for a long time.

    really?

but for some injuries, with our squad we could put out a B team that could still get in play offs

This doesn't even include players like Waghorn, Rooney, Washington, John-Jules, etc

Just because a player signs for a fee, doesn't automatically make them a better signing. A lot of our free signings have been amongst the best in the division these last 2 seasons. Mendez-Laing, Nelson, McGoldrick, etc. Not to mention all our academy players which also cost us nothing.
