Well quite.. We have several times seen statements from the EFL about wanting to preserve the long term future of the club while at the same time threatening to apply sanctions that fundamentally undermine the value of the club to any potential saviour.
I genuinely believe that the EFL don't wish us to cease to exist but I just don't think that our situation was what they had in mind when these rules were written up. We have no stadium and an utterly threadbare squad on short contracts due to a seemingly endless embargo and then administration on top. There is just very little residual value, that's the fact of it.
They can brandish their rulebook and stamp their feet all they like and demand that certain creditors are paid but if a series of incoming owners say that the club is worth nowhere near enough to do that then they can just apply their rules and be damned and send us under or they can look at the discretionary element and say OK, well lets be pragmatic here and find a way through this and perhaps afterwards we can sit down and review the rules we've made as to whether they work in all situations. This isn't about trying to duck debt to gain unfair advantage, it's about trying to survive. Even if we achieve that, the DCFC entity is in a seriously distressed state in need of an extensive rebuild on and off the pitch. Regardless of what some delusional fans of other teams think, we have absolutely not got away with anything, far from it, we've taken an absolute mauling that could take years to turn around even with new owners prepared to invest. Don't make this any harder than it already is.

I can see it playing-out now. EFL accept our plan to suspend the 15 point deduction based on paying 35% of non-football debts over two years.
We stay-up this year after Reading lose all their last six games and Derby pip them on GD for 21st spot.
The season after next, Rooney's Slync.io Rams buoyed by a fresh line-up of ex-internationals and aspiring youth, go on a storming run and at the final whistle on the last game of the season are firmly sat in second spot with a 14 point cushion over Everton in third.
10 minutes after the game Kieran Magiure spots an aritmetical error in Quantuma's "Great British Financial Plan", and it transpires that only 34.99% of the debts were cleared. EFL instantly deduct us 15 points and we lose both PO semi-finals 1-0 to Peterborough.

You can see what's happened over this god awful period in the club's history......
We're now all focused on accountancy matters. Where's Kirchner get the money? Why's Ashley trying to save a few quid? Who owns the property like corner flags if Kirchner isn't buying the ground?
Anyone else looking forward to it just being about football again?
(Ironically the football has been monumental this season and, to be fair, we talk about that too. Just seems like the obsession is with knowing the financial details of everything - and yeah, it's understandable. My point is it's another negative)

Of course there is an element of risk. he is a bit of an unknown to us has never owned an English football club before. That said, he has some people on board who know the game over here very well indeed and his intention seems to be owner and not the person running things day to day which seems sensible.
There is a chance that this might end badly of course, who knows, but alternatively it might be an excellent fit and fresh ideas. He has been selected now so lets just leave him to do the paperwork and strike his deals as quickly as he is able and hope that there isn't too much fallout regarding potential penalties. I don't see that we really have much choice in our situation. It would however be nice to hear some statement as soon as possible about what the general state of play is and what his plan is. With avoiding relegation looking less likely by the game, what is concerning us fans is stuff like: (and understanding that some of this can only be addressed once a sale is complete) :
    - Can we confirm that we have sufficient agreement on debt settlement to maintain our golden share ?
    - Will there be a points deduction of any kind, if so, when will this apply ?
    -  What is the timescale of this potential takeover ?
    - Given the fact that it will be weeks at least until sale completion and given the utterly threadbare nature of the squad and more contracts expiring shortly, will we be able to tie some of our remaining players down to contracts and potentially sign some free against at least? It seems unlikely that we will have much (if any) time to assemble a viable competitive squad in time for pre-season so with a possibility of deductions it will be absolutely vital to hit the ground running next year and give the manager a fighting chance.
    - Will we be able to buy Season Tickets soon? If so, what is the likely timescale for that ?
    - How onerous will the EFL approved/enforced business plan be? Will it give the new owner scope to actually help rebuild or will we be completely hamstrung by the actions of previous owner for years ?
    Many more I'm sure...

Well it makes sense not to burn any bridges with anyone that you may potentially need to step in, so if MA is still monitoring the situation and is openly interested then as a backup plan that has to be a positive thing right ?

I know that renting a stadium seems like a slightly alien concept to us but regarding CK's apparent willingness to rent the stadium (which we are all assuming buyers will be desperate to buy outright), it seems that American sports teams very often seem to rent their stadia so it is perhaps nothing unusual to him. It might also help explain some of the jarring things that we see from a UK perspective like franchises moving home and just upping sticks from City A to City B.
Just plucking a few random examples from this article from 2017, it's clear that plenty of big names in the NFL/AFC  just rent.
    https://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/raiders-nfl/stadium-and-rent-details-for-all-32-nfl-teams/
    New York Jets
    New York Giants
    Pittsburgh Steelers
    Jacksonville Jaguars
    Green Bay Packers
    Denver Broncos
    Dallas Cowboys
    San Francisco 49ers
    Chicago Bears
    etc..
Culturally it may be a bit like Germans being far more likely to rent a house for life for life rather than buy it as per UK preference. I read that more than half of Germans rent rather than buy.

I think something like this'd be great rather than what you normally get in stadiums which is mass produced generic fast food from a big industrial estate near Carlisle. Help build on the closer bond there has been lately with community and club. They'd need a decent production capacity to meet match day demand and keep prices reasonably competitive of course, but still..
Who knows, a council owned stadium in particular might fancy that idea.

I know what you mean. Don't get me wrong, it is good to hear that a PB has been named and good luck to CK if he sees this through and gets us back on track in good shape. Good also to know also that there is another interested party in case it falls through but the devil will be in the detail and we haven't heard anything about that yet so it is hard to judge the merits of this with any real certainty.
I guess we're back to waiting because there have been comments that detailed negotiations with HMRC will only happen when they have a bidder to speak to. They have indicated that they may be prepared to entertain some form of compromise but wouldn't discuss specifics until the process had moved on. I suspect that we may be facing more waiting while a load of issues are thrashed out but I am surprised that we don't have a CK statement. He's not usually reticent to speak on all matters DCFC.

Wow, OK, that is a genuine surprise. Really ? us ?
Sure, there are little things about pretty much every country that I'm not keen on (including America) but Americans as a group is surely far too wide a demographic to be lumping them all together in a negative way! My company was American owned for years and it never occurred to me not to like the folks as a group. Some were great people to be around and some less so, which is pretty much representative of all folks that you meet !
