I'm probably wrong, but I thought curtelage was the area of land contained within your own boundary, so the piece of pavement beyond your drive would not be part of it i.e. it belongs to the council or summat.
Hereditament would be the buildings within the curtelage. The old handwritten deeds used to refer to 'the hereditament and curtelage'.
Educational, these forums.Mind you, it's probably all B*llox.
Merry Christmas, one and all.

Vehicles with only one headlight working (an ever-increasing number)
Vehicles with headlights badly adjusted so that they shine at your eyes
Vehicles parked on your side of the road, facing you, on full beam.

I always think a response of 'Your bum would look big in anything' would be amusing, but never had the courage to say it.

Pre-payment hospital car parks, especially ones that are cash only. Apart from visiting someone, how can you possibly know how long you'll be?

It gives me great pleasure to let you know that our entirely British made wristwatches summited Everest this year with the Royal Gurkha Regiment. They carried them specifically to raise money for the very poorest, mountain regions of Nepal. As I am sure you are aware, Nepal suffered dreadfully in the Earthquake of 2015 and again with catastrophic flooding this year.
The Mountain Trust, a small charity based in Cambridge, specifically works in mountain districts of Nepal. In a country with erratic and sometimes no schooling in remote districts they launched Radio Guru. It broadcasts FM radio lessons, led by experienced teachers. The station has an audience of some 44,000 mountain Nepalis, many of whom would have no other access to education.
We hand-built an unique manual winding wristwatch for them. The case and dial were made by us for the Mountain Trust and the movement is a highly adapted English (new old stock) movement built by Smiths. It is a rare Imperial model, the most expensive movement ever produced in Britain. We re-built it to run at extremes of temperature (the climbing team dealt with temperatures between -40 degrees and + 35 degrees centigrade) and the watch went out on both the aborted 2015 expedition and the hugely successful 2017 expedition.
The skill and expertise of the climbers was beyond question. The RGR team were the first people, climbing alongside Sherpas, to summit this year. Nine serving soldiers, all climbing instructors, and three British officers summited. The army described it as the most successful Everest expedition the British army had ever undertaken.

To go to those extremes to watch birds, he must have been bittern by the bug.
By the way Frogggy, nice time in Dorset, although Mother Nature was at her most capricious. Managed most on your list. Nice to visit Gold Hill again after many years.
For those of you who don't know Gold Hill, here's a reminder.

My stepdaughter was there when it happened. Went to NY with a bunch of student nurses/doctors staying in a hostel. They had planned to visit on the eleventh, but decided they wanted to do something else that day and moved it back a day. Still got the admission ticket dated the 9th (you had to book a day in advance) and a little commemorative glass from there.
They saw the towers collapsing and offered to help (medically) but were turned away. The Indian airline they'd flown out with (it was cheap) refused to fly out, so we sent her some money to get out asap. Scary.

VAT on wills. It's depressing enough doing one, without adding 20% on top.

Drivers who sit in cars, on the wrong side of the road, i.e. facing you as you drive along, with their headlights on full beam.
Drivers who are waiting at side roads, and as you approach, wait, then pull out at the last moment causing you to brake sharply.
