It's the only conceivable reason that I could think of that people would be so dismissive of the idea that we're in danger of it.

What concerns me are four key things.
1) our defending from set pieces- in our last 3 games we've been woeful defending from set pieces, Luton, Reading, and Norwich have all had 2 or more chances from corners or crossed free kicks. We've given away numerous free headers and have had a few lucky handballs waved away- against teams like Preston, Birmingham etc. this is a critical area we need to tighten up on.
2) Our lack of creativity- It's not only that we don't score many we don't create many guilt edge chances either. We are too often reliant upon a shot 20 yards out to get a goal rather than creating 1 vs 1's or a clear shot inside the box. We're chronically poor in our chance creation and composure in the final third.
3) Our lack of goals- CKR is quickly reverting back to the player we thought we'd signed after his initial purple patch. Apart from him we have Gregory who doesn't ooze goals either- essentially we've got 2 strikers whose skill set is pretty much exactly the same (great at hold up not to so great at scoring). Our wide players and midfielders don't contribute much to the goal tally either- at this point I'd welcome back Waghorn just because he can take a good freekick now and again.
4) Our current form- Our form has absolutely nosedived in the past dozen games or so. We're simply not winning games or getting enough points on the board atm and we've got 5 games to turn it around. We played well in the second half against Norwich and Luton but I can't remember the last time we looked solid and played well for 90 minutes. Both Blackburn and Preston are in as bad as form as us so winning at least 1 of these games is imperative but I can't say I'm confident we will.

1 win in 10 with a worse goal difference than the team in 22nd, at least they're not being complacent.

Just realised that it’s actually not technically in our hands to stay up!
Quite frightening...

Other than the win against Luton, the last win we had before that was vs Huddersfield on the 23rd of February. Draws aren't good enough now, and I honestly cannot see where our next win is coming from.

Amuses me that on this thread there are still people delusional enough to think we're not in deep, deep trouble.

Rotherham have produced a big result at a big moment.
To be honest, I would like Rotherham to win on Thursday, so it might actually jolt us into life.
We have been playing like the season is over since the start of March.
It is time for us to start performing.

Pretty damning for Derby to be relying on Rotherham to lose games to be safe. I think we'll drop into the bottom 3, we're in awful form.

Not the same at all, we have a good chance of staying up but the repeated not a chance in hell can we go down is total nonsense...

Might wake up some on here to the reality of the situation.....

I didn't like it much when it went quiet during the Sheik takeover.
I don't really like it much when Alonso talks about £20 million players and the Champions League
I have decided to confine my immediate worrying to avoiding relegation this season, once we are safe, I will review my options and pick something else to worry about, there always plenty of choice when you support Derby. ??

Rotherham aren't dead and buried, yes they have fixtures piling up but they won't lose them all. If they win 1 and draw 1 they'll still move within 4 points of us which is too close for comfort. Sheffield Wednesday are 8 behind but have a game in hand and play us on the final day. As they play us on the final day they just need to get within 3 points of us to make it competitive. That could mean clawing anywhere between 5 or 2 points from the remaining 4 games on us depending on their game in hand results. I think 5 might be too much but they have good games at home so a couple of good results and we could be staring into the abyss very quickly.

Rotherham have 9 matches left. I think it’s between Derby Coventry and Huddersfield but I’m starting to think we’ve had it after watching our last few matches.

I meant that Rooney doesn't seem to set his team out to try and win games so the default outcome is nul goals and an invariable defeat.
Look at the run Birmingham have put together since they axed Karanka for example with effectively the same group of players.
I genuinely hope the new owner has already watched enough games himself to make his own informed decision and acts accordingly despite what he's said recently publically.

Someone needs to tell Rooney that all games are winneable cos he's just not getting it.
-
Deej reacted to Tyler Durden in Relegation watch
If Rooney sends us down then the first thing the new owners need to do is sack him.

Correct... because they have appointed a proper football manager...it always helps.

I won't say we WILL be safe, but I do think we have enough in us to be able to say we CAN be safe.
That said, we need to improve further and significantly from today, for that to come true.
I'm thinking, particularly away, that scrappy 1-0 wins is how we could achieve it.
I do generally agree with you Jourdan..we are really cutting it fine and nothing is certain. There is a relatively high likelihood that things could go horribly wrong.....

He said no further comment since he’s not shut up he’s trying to show off, at first I was more than willing to give him a chance I still am but it’s starting to be more and more alarming by the minute!

Mel's reasons for selling are his own but why on earth should we just 'trust mel' after we've had a failed takeover that lasted what felt like a lifetime because they couldn't come up with the money?
Please tell me you're joking... the EFL's 'fit and proper' persons test basically led Bury to extinction and got Wigan into financial ruin. It's clearly nowhere near sufficient enough to ensure proper custodianship of a club.

Interesting that he lists recruitment as something to look at. It is poor and overpriced recruitment by previous managers that are largely responsible for the recent financial position.

This article certainly makes this deal look a lot more ideal than I first expected.
I'm not a fan either to be honest. I'm sure he writes a number of good pieces but I just don't get the impression it's much more than I already knew anyway. Maybe it stems back to when he first started and his ITK pieces turned out to be a load of ****?

Deporting immigrants who break the law is a standard approach in many countries.
Angela Merkel recently voted against same-sex marriage in the German Parliament, where the ruling party are her Christian Democrats and therefore religiously influenced conservatives.
In my experience it's standard for anyone on the left to label anyone who disagrees with them "far right". It's the nature of the polarized societies we live in, driven in large part by social media algorithms.
I'll judge him as I find him.

I mean that would require some competency, I imagine they just accidentally signed the wrong piece of paper and were too embarrassed to reverse their 'decision'.
